Warframe publisher Digital Extremes confirms layoffs, plans to give up control of Wayfinder

Digital Extremes, the publisher behind live service behemoth Warframe, has confirmed that it’s shutting down its publishing arm and will be handing control of Wayfinder back to developer Airship Syndicate.

These developments have led to an unknown number of employees being laid off, mainly from the company’s publishing and external projects wings, with Polygon reporting that, according to two sources, “at least 20 people were let go”. It’s now unclear whether Digital Extremes has any plans to publish external games like Wayfinder going forwards, though it definitely seems to be focusing its attention internally for now.

"We can confirm we have made the difficult decision to cease operations of our external projects division," a representative for the publisher said in a statement issued to PC Gamer, which seems to be similar to those revived by several other outlets. "We have had to say goodbye to a number of hardworking and highly valuable team members as a result and we're working with Airship to transition full control of Wayfinder to them in the coming months."

Plague Star is back!

Tenno! Like a fetid and pus-filled comet across the sky, Operation: Plague Star has returned! The Infested Boil now taking hold of the Plains of Eidolon must be destroyed. Save the people of Cetus and restore the beauty of the Plains until November 21 at 11 a.m. ET.

It's been a few years since Vay Hek’s favorite surgery simulator has graced the Origin System, so we wanted to make a few updates to streamline the difficulty curve and improve the experience of the event.

Most notably, Plague Star no longer requires you to mix the Toxin during the Mission itself and you are no longer required to contribute Infested Catalyst and Eidolon Phylaxis from your Gear wheel. These items will be auto-applied to your Mission depending on which Bounty tier is selected.

Players can alter the difficulty by selecting one of three Bounties offered by Konzu in Cetus. These bounties have been tweaked to reflect the scaling difficulty of previous Plague Star events.
BOUNTIES
Tier 1 - Plague Star
The standard Plague Star experience, no Eidolon Phylaxis or Infested Catalyst required.

Tier 2 - Plague Star Advanced
To play this Bounty, you are required to have both Eidolon Phylaxis and Infested Catalyst in your Inventory. The effects of these items will be added to the Mission automatically. This Bounty’s difficulty is similar to players mixing 4 Eidolon Phylaxis and 4 Infested Catalysts in previous appearances of Plague Star.

Tier 3 - Plague Star - Steel Path
Greater difficulty and greater Rewards await those Tenno on the Steel Path who seek the ultimate Plague Star challenge. You will receive bonus Kuva and Endo should you and your Squad emerge victorious. As with the Plague Star - Advanced Bounty, you must have both Eidolon Phylaxis and Infested Catalyst in your inventory.
