Developer Update #4: Interactions

Hey everyone!

Welcome to another developer update on Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic. In this edition we will talk a bit and show a few examples of the different interactions that make the game feel more alive and vibrant.

We aim to transform the gaming experience beyond the realm of a typical hidden object game, by infusing the world with vitality and immersion. Our focus revolves around three fundamental elements, all working in harmony to breathe life and vibrancy into the game, with the goal to elevate the user experience.

Engaging Interactions:
Our primary emphasis is on interactions. We understand that interactions are more than just clicking on objects – they encapsulate the dynamic actions that follow. Whether it's a character, an item, or any other object really, each click is carefully designed to provide players with some sort of feedback. These responses may manifest as both auditory and visual cues. From characters playfully waving back to the player to apples being consumed and the ability to toggle lights. Every interaction is intended to evoke a tangible reaction.

A few examples:

Fluid Movement:
Movement is a pivotal aspect that has already been introduced in the previous installment. However, we've turnt it up a notch by implementing a comprehensive set of improvements. The latest version empowers players to meticulously tailor character paths according to their preferences like customizing the number of nodes on a path, incorporating stops to trigger animations, or enabling characters to idle seamlessly. Furthermore, the inclusion of rear-view perspectives for all characters and animals ensures a seamless and organic perspective shift.

Example: pathing of a vehicle

Extra Background Music Options:
We recognize the influential role music plays in the game's ambiance. Rather than a single track on repeat, we've curated a collection of music that adapts to the era you are playing in. This transformational approach to music enhances the thematic experience and makes each map more captivating. Additionally, the online map creator grants players the autonomy to choose music tracks that best resonate with their vision, further elevating the immersive quality of the game.

All music:
Main Theme Calm
Main Theme Intense
80s Intense
80s Variant
Arabian Intense

In essence, our commitment is to deliver an exciting gaming encounter that transcends the boundaries of conventional hidden object games. Through meticulously crafted interactions, seamless movement, and a broader musical landscape, we aspire to create a world that thrives

Developer Update #3: The Architect

Hello everyone,

We're excited to present a new developer update for Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic!

Today's topic: The Architect

The Architect represents a fresh perspective on the Editor, and its name carries an air of sophistication. In essence, this remains the creative hub where you can craft your own maps, now with a revamped name and an enhanced user experience!

As you'll immediately notice, the user interface has undergone significant changes compared to the previous version, including the demo we showcased in July. The most prominent change is the meticulous categorization of items, making them conveniently discoverable. For instance, if you're searching for furniture, simply click 'Objects' on the left panel and narrow down your search by selecting 'Furniture' in the lower filter. This instantly displays all objects tagged as Furniture: chairs, beds, tables, barrels, and more.

This dual-filter system is integrated throughout every section in the left panel. A brief overview:

If you know exactly what you are looking for, you can also just search on name in the filter textbox.

The left panel stays largely the same. You retain the option to switch between the four eras or activate them collectively. On the other side, we've made slight adjustments to the right panel to enhance navigation. Noteworthy functionalities located here are Flip Character, Mirror Selection, Show Grid, Background Painter, Enable Object in other Mode, and Save as Preset. A few features like Save and Set Objective have been relocated. Added is the option to choose which music you want to play on your map, choosing between a few presets.

Setting an objective is now accomplished through the new context menu. This menu surfaces whenever you select an asset. In addition to designating something as an objective, you can adjust the asset's layer, access the character/structure editor and even change the coloring scheme.

From left to right:
(character) Open Objective Menu, Layer Selection, Edit Character
(structure) Set Colors, Open Objective Menu, Layer Selection, Open Container, Edit Structure

One of the exciting new additions in Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic is the ability to seamlessly switch between two modes within a single map, such as transitioning between Day and Night. You can activate this multi-mode setting at the top of your screen by clicking the +-icon and selecting the desired state.

This area also provides insight into the asset limit (on the left) and the objective limit (on the right) for your map. Do want to note that this limit takes into account both modes, if one is added.

Once you've completed your map design, the final step is to save and upload it to our servers, a simple task facilitated by the icons located in the upper right corner.

That wraps up a basic rundown of the improved Architect. We focused a lot on customization and making it a lot easier to bring your creativity to life, and hopefully achieved it with the new upgrades.

Thank you for your continued enthusiasm and support. Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the exciting release of Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic!

Developer Update #2: Shift Mode

Greetings, fellow adventurers!

Prepare yourselves for an exciting journey as we dive into today's captivating development update. Today we are going to talk about a new addition to our game: the shift mode. Brace yourselves as we delve into the intricacies of this feature, which allows for seamless transitions between different states within a single map. Picture this: the mesmerizing shift from day to night, or perhaps a mystical transformation from misty to snowy landscapes.

Now, you might be wondering, how does this shift mode work? Fear not, for it's a simple yet profound concept that adds an extra layer of depth to both the map creation process and your overall gaming experience. We have pinpointed five distinct states for you to explore: day, night, misty, rainy, and snowy. Each state possesses its own mesmerizing visual effects that breathe life into your maps and immerse you in a world of wonder.

But wait, there's more! You have the power to shape your maps exactly as you envision them. Each map created in the editor can encompass up to two states, and you are free to mix and match to your heart's content. By default, map creation starts in the day state, but you can easily alter this by clicking on the state icon. A drop-down menu will appear, granting you the ability to select your desired state and craft an unforgettable journey.

Whether you're traversing captivating campaign maps or engaging in thrilling online adventures, you can seamlessly switch between these enchanting states. With a single click on the state icon, a magical transition effect will transport you from one realm to another. Picture the wonders that await as you witness the world transform before your very eyes.
