Tales of Kenzera™: ZAU News

It's not every day that a vampire plays your demo.

The Tales of Kenzera: ZAU demo playthrough with Neil Newbon and Abubakar Salim went live on Monday, and the response has already been incredible!

As a team we've watched the entire stream about 10000 times because we can't actually believe that Astarion has played our demo.

Our favourite parts are:

1. When Neil discovers a colony of moles beneath a push block (we've fixed this bug by the way)
   
2. When Abu accidentally admits that he viewed his entire life as a Pokemon game as a child
   
3. When this pair of expressions happened:

Right from the beginning of production, we knew we wanted Kenzera to feel rich, varied and colourful.

As you play the demo, your eyes will probably be locked on the flurry of action before you as Zau leaps, strikes and unleashes the cosmic power of the masks on marauding enemies. Don’t forget to take a closer look at the world around him - keeping an eye out for peek-a-boo views that tell you more about Kenzera itself.

At a certain point in the demo, you’ll find yourself underground. Surrounded by glimmering crystals and fungi, you’ll watch light bounce off the rippling water and set the surrounding stone aglow with shimmering prisms - all carefully crafted by our team.

We’re really proud of this area, and we hope its beauty will at least partially make up for the harrowing challenge area nearby.

Great news: you can finally experience Kenzera for yourself in our first-ever public demo of Tales of Kenzera: ZAU!

The demo will give you a peek into the early moments of ZAU, offering a taste of its fleet-footed and fast-paced combat and traversal and a first look at the emotional story as it begins to unfold. Defeat marauding enemies like the Roho ya Rungu and Roho ya Mtupaji, and beware the cunning, explosive Tokoloshe. Within the pre-defined demo area, eagle-eyed players will also discover hidden Echoes, which will lend a crucial hint to the full game’s narrative framing.

Your time in Kenzera begins as you, a young warrior-shaman, arrive in the sanctuary Patakatifu and call upon Kalunga, the God of Death, to strike up a very unusual bargain. As you begin the journey to fulfill your end of the deal, you will learn to wield two powerful masks imbued with the cosmic power of the sun and the moon in a beautiful and chaotic dance.
