Neverway News

Neverway is releasing in 2026!

Hello!!!! As you may have noticed, we’re very excited today!!!!!!

Neverway was just featured as part of the latest Indie World. Obviously, this means that we’re launching on Nintendo Switch!

[p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][/p]
We also got featured in the Japanese Indie World broadcast, look!

[p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][/p]
The Japanese version turned out quite different from the English one, as it's the first time we’re sharing actual spoilers (!!!) for the story, so probably only watch it if you don’t mind the spoilers.

[p][/p]
Finally, we're ready to announce that Neverway will release in 2026, for both PC and Nintendo Switch! Definitely scary and exciting.

[p][/p]
*And* we’re part of this year’s Tiny Teams event, which is super cool for a small team like ours!! Although we won’t participate in the stream showcase, we highly recommend checking out all the other cool games there!

[h3]So what's next?[/h3]
Anyway! That was A Lot Of Things. Honestly, we're just excited to get back and finally focus on creating tons of new content for the game.

After our first in-person event at BitSummit, we were very happy with the reviews and feedback we got from people that played the game. In particular, I loved when people noticed some small details that we added to the game (I really thought no one would notice!), or hearing how the story resonated with them. Over 200 people played the whole prologue! And there were zero bugs!!!! Well, except for this one person who managed to talk to an NPC through a wall.

We already have some ideas on how to get the prologue in the best shape possible for an eventual public demo, we'll let you know when the timing is right. Thank you for everyone's support and for trusting us!

Until next time!

Breakfast with Aurora

[p]Hello again!

We thought about explaining a bit more about our characters this time! You'll meet a variety of characters throughout Neverway, who can be either village residents or… something else.

For example, here, you might recognize Aurora!

She’s not wearing her usual dress - each character can have different outfits, and this is one of hers.

Aurora is a scientist. She loves understanding the bizarre occurrences throughout the world around her using rock-hard facts. She can help you study new manuals or find books at her bookshop. She also reads a lot of teenage romance novels.

Some of the cutest concepts Pedro has drawn for her.

She has breakfast outside her house in the mornings, and you can join her by sitting next to her.
[/p][p][/p][p]One of our foundations in Neverway is to always tie our systems together, so we try to make most of the interactions meaningful in some way. For example, by sitting next to Aurora, you can get closer to her and receive a special buff after eating the berries.

Everyone will have their unique routines throughout the week: they can work at their job, eat breakfast or oversleep in the morning. They can also do things together like game nights or have picnics. Just to give an idea, we already have 150 different ones implemented in the game at this point. It turns out it’s a lot of work but we’re doing our best!

We do all sorts of debug tools to help us with these systems. They help so much... I love debugging...

As a final note, we’re getting ready for our first in-person event, BitSummit in Kyoto!!!!

This will be our first time showing Neverway in public!!! We’re very nervous about this. But also excited!

We can’t wait to see how people react and play the game! We’ll also use all the feedback to make sure the game is in its best shape possible before showing it to you all. Although we don’t know yet when this is going to be!

I can probably spoil that, since Neverway is a narrative driven game, we’re taking the approach of a prologue, rather than a traditional “demo”. However, we might have prepared a special mode that unlocks after you finish playing the prologue…

That’s all for now! We have even more cool things to announce… soon… But, for now, you can just keep an eye here for any upcoming updates. Or, even better, join our newsletter: neverwaygame.com

You can let us know in the comments if there’s anything you want to see covered in the next updates, and thank you for reading!

Over 200,000 of you???

So our original goal was to post one update here every month, but then WE GOT 200K WISHLISTS? IN TWO MONTHS????

Seriously, we couldn't be more grateful for all your support. We really love working on this game, and knowing that you're all connecting with it in some way or another means a lot to us.

Pedro did this drawing last minute. We had no idea we'd need it so soon.

Anyway, I'll keep this very short, this is just our way of saying: thank you 🩸 Coldblood Inc.

Summer Game Fest is here!

[p]It’s Summer Game Fest time, and it turns out we got to do a lot of cool things! We shared more about our gameplay with lots of new footage at Day of the Devs, and announced that we’re localizing the game to Spanish (!!!) at Latin American Games Showcase.[/p][p]We have even more things to announce in these next few months that we can’t spoil yet, but we’re VERY excited!!! For now, just keep an eye on any upcoming updates here…[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Fiona is trying her best to survive the Summer.[/p][p][/p][p]Now let's jump into some content...[/p][p]We previously explained how food works in the game and how you can use it to advance time. So... what else can you do to advance time?[/p][p][/p][p]As you may already know, time in Neverway is divided into three slots: morning, afternoon and evening. [/p][p]Time does pass a little bit within a slot, but it only actually advances once you explicitly trigger an activity. This activity can be anything like eating, taking a shower, sleeping, reading a book, or dying. You probably should try not to die, though.[/p][p][/p][p]Whatever you choose to do impacts things like adding or removing buffs, recovering health, or new recipes that you learn.[/p][p][/p][p]Localization updates![/p][p]We promised that you’d hear more from us on localization, and here we are: we’re localizing Neverway to Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Russian, and Spanish! [/p][p]Since we have a limited budget and our game has a lot of words, we can’t commit to more than 5 languages for now. If Neverway does well after launch (fingers crossed!!), we promise do our best to support more languages — it’s definitely one of our priorities. We appreciate all your support and feedback![/p][p][/p][p]That’s all![/p][p]🩸 Coldblood Inc.[/p]

Over 140,000 of you!

We got over 100k wishlists in just five (5!!) days after the announcement. We are SO happy and grateful for everyone’s support, it's still a little hard to believe this! From everyone on the team: thank you T_T

Also, just knowing that a lot of people are enjoying our weird ideas is incredibly motivating. We promise to do our best to make the best game we possibly can!

The numbers keep going up…

For this month’s update, we thought we’d show you a little bit of the food in Neverway (mmmhmmm). Basically, there are two ways you can eat in the game:
  1. Eat it as a snack by “equipping” it
  2. Cook it into a meal and have it for dinner or lunch, which advances time

So let’s look at some examples. Here, take a corn on the cob. You can eat that anytime you want.

Here's how you do it:

Now, let’s say you want a proper meal, so you get yourself a delivery of instant noodles. You can sit down and have it for lunch, like this:

We’ll cover in the next updates how exactly you can prepare and cook your food...

On another note, we want to confirm that we are looking into localizing the game to more languages! While we want to support as many as we can, we do have a limited budget, and this game has a lot of words. That said, we still have some room left, so you might hear more from us next month…

And that’s all, until next time!
