Legends of Castile News

[p]AdventureX is the UK's convention dedicated to adventure games. Since 2011, AdventureX has been bringing together developers & gamers with a passion for interactive storytelling.[/p][p][/p][p]We are fortunate enough to exhibit at the convention this year.[/p][p][/p][p]AdventureX 2025 includes a digital event featuring a Steam Sale with an incredible selection of narrative adventure games.[/p]

[p][/p][h3]Development state[/h3][p]This month I went back to the foundations of the game and worked on improvements to the demo. The updated demo, prepared for the Adventure X exhibition, also represents progress toward the full game. In this way, I am not only revisiting the basics, I am enhancing the final result.[/p][p][/p][p]Here are some of the improvements in version 4.0.0 of the demo, now published on Steam as part of the Adventure X Steam event:[/p]

• [p]New main character animations, such as María knocking on the house door or her breathing idle animation.[/p]
• [p]María now shows emotions visually (more about this later in the text).[/p]
• [p]A “thinking” feature when María does not speak in a dialogue or aloud. This helps keep the non-voiced parts of the demo more logical, and it could also serve as a way to apply voice acting to the full game in a more affordable manner if full VO funding is not achieved, ensuring at least dialogues and spoken lines are voiced.[/p]
• [p]Dynamic lighting applied to characters, improving the overall graphics.[/p][p][/p]

[p]Additionally, there is an extra puzzle from Act 1, exclusive to the onsite audience at Adventure X, featuring the first “adventure game boss fight” of the game.[/p][p][/p][h3]Emotions system[/h3][h3][/h3][p]As I mentioned above, María can now express a wider range of emotions visually. Up to nine emotion animations have been added, designed so they can be easily applied in dialogues or at any point in the game. The system is also scalable, allowing for more emotions to be added in the future. If you have any suggestions that would fit the character, please share them with us on our Discord server![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]I look forward to meeting many new people connected to adventure games on Adventure X event this weekend, including some well-known figures from the industry. [h3]We are officially selected for AdventureX 2025 convention![/h3][p]
I had to read the title twice because this feels like a dream. When we started making this game back in 2022, we didn’t even know what AdventureX was. Now that we do, and knowing it is second to none among narrative conventions worldwide, we are thrilled to say our game has been officially selected to exhibit at the convention.[/p][p] [/p][p]We will be in London on November 22 and 23 showcasing an exclusive game demo, and we hope to meet some of you there. We will be creating special goodies for anyone who stops by the game stand.[/p][p][/p][p]https://www.adventurexpo.org/[/p][p]  [/p][h3]Release date update[/h3][h3] [/h3][p]The release window we set is getting closer, and we want to be upfront with you: a Christmas launch isn't likely. The game still needs a bit more time in the oven to shine the way we all want it to.[/p][p] [/p][p]Legends of Castile won’t be released in 2025. That said, we are doing our best to bring it to life in 2026, and we will share a clearer timeline when the moment feels right. She is a very lighthearted baker who makes a kind of Spanish doughnuts (rosquillas in Spanish)![/p][p] [/p][p]- Meet Aquilino as well, a mysterious character that María will meet on Act 3.
