Patch Notes - July 2, 2024 - 0.26.0 (272243)

Greetings, Adventurers! It’s time for an update—one that brings a big party straight to you.

Grab a friend and join the festivities as we celebrate Sky’s 5th anniversary during SkyFest! A musical season also makes its debut, and a brand new event invites you to try a new series of minigames. Not to mention, you’ll find a new feature to enjoy as you view and make Player Creations!
SkyFest: A 5th Birthday Like No Other!
It’s time to celebrate Sky’s birthday. This year, Sky turns 5! And in case you hadn’t heard, we are throwing an extra special party. This is a BIG event, but we’ve packed the most important info into the patch notes!

We’re calling Sky’s 5th Anniversary SkyFest, and for two weeks from 17:00 July 12th through 23:59 July 26th (all times PDT, UTC -7) it combines in-game and in-person events for everyone to be part of.

It all begins at 17:00 on July 12th. Yes, 17:00, not the daily reset time. This is so the in-game celebration starts at the exact same time that the in-person SkyFest celebration starts in Tokyo, Japan! For two days, the in-person event will have talks and presentations about all things Sky—and part of this can be experienced in-game!

Once the event begins, meditate at circles in Aviary Village near the Friendship Constellation statue or the gates to the levels. That will take you to a special version of Aviary Village which will be the center of the SkyFest party, with parades and decorations and a whole lot more.

Instead of the regular gates to levels in the game, three familiar portals will take you to these locations made just for SkyFest:
  • History of Sky Gallery (Isle of Dawn)
  • Art of Sky Gallery (Hidden Forest)
  • SkyFest Cinema (Eye of Eden)

These areas will have something unique to share throughout the event, but from July 12th through 14th, you can find actual in-game livestreams of talks and more from the in-person Sky-Fest!

July 12
  • 19:00 - Guided Tour of Sky’s History with the devs (History Gallery)
    • Join us on a live tour through the History Gallery as we share stories and more about how Sky became what it is today!

  • 20:00 - SkyFest 2024 Keynote with Jenova Chen (SkyFest Cinema)
    • Let’s just say, you don’t want to miss this one…

  • 23:00 - How We Got 10,000 Players into a Level (SkyFest Cinema)
    • Here’s a peek at how our engineering team created the tech that helped us set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title!

July 13
  • 18:00 - Design at Record-Breaking Scale in Sky: Children of the Light (SkyFest Cinema)
    • It’s okay, you can cry! Learn how the team designed the AURORA Concert to make it a memorable and moving experience.

  • 19:00 - Guided Tour of Sky’s Art with the devs (Art Gallery)
    • Take a tour through the Art Gallery as we talk about some of the art that played a key role in Sky’s development.

  • 22:00 - An Exploration of the Art of Sky (SkyFest Cinema)
    • How did Sky first come to life in its earliest days? See how art played a key role in the ideas that ultimately evolved into Sky’s world and lore.

July 14
  • 00:00 - Designing to Reduce Toxicity in Online Games (SkyFest Cinema)
    • How do you make a game that welcomes everybody, with a world that allows compassion and generosity to blossom?
  • 01:00 - SkyFest LIVE Community Concert (SkyFest Cinema)
    • Sky’s first-ever live in-game concert! Player musicians from around the world will give a memorable performance featuring classic favorites, original compositions, and of course, some of the community’s favorite Sky songs.

    • This is a one-time-only concert that won’t replay after July 14th, so be sure to join us at the SkyFest Cinema to see it!

And there’s plenty more to see!
Every hour there will be other videos, screenings, and more. And if you miss the livestreams or videos during the opening weekend of SkyFest, don’t worry—the SkyFest Cinema is the place to catch them again when they replay during the rest of the event!

In between the visits to the galleries and stage, Aviary Village is absolutely party central. Catch an even showier Aviary fireworks show, join in parades celebrating five years of Sky, and more—you never know what you might find if you search around the village…

Once you’ve explored the SkyFest areas, stop by the Secret Area accessible from the Vault of Knowledge. During SkyFest, you can take a shortcut there by meditating at the Events Shop in Aviary Village. The gates are open to all, so you can join the dance party and watch Spirits take the rooftop stage. And just for the 5th anniversary, the Secret Area will have a display of three capes from past collaborations—the display will allow you to teleport to the special areas that came with each collab, no cape use necessary!

Don’t forget about event currency while you’re partying! Four star-shaped tokens can be found around the village each day. Use them to unlock some of this year’s new anniversary items, including some souvenirs arriving just for Sky’s 5th birthday

New Items
  • SkyFest 5th Anniversary Headband: 4 event currency
  • SkyFest Jenova Fan: 8 event currency

  • SkyFest Oreo Headband: $4.99 (all prices USD)
  • SkyFest Wireframe Cape: $19.99
    • This cape comes with a special ability: After SkyFest ends, it can be used to access the SkyFest version of Aviary, including the History and Art Galleries plus the SkyFest Cinema. Videos from the SkyFest Cinema will replay after SkyFest on a schedule. (Please note that this cape provides access to the SkyFest event spaces ONLY.)

Anniversary items can be purchased or unlocked with in-game currency from friendly Spirits in the Secret Area, the Event Guide, or through the in-game shop.
Season of Duets
This patch brings the Season of Duets, where you can enter the story of two spirits who were once connected through their music. Start at Aviary Village, where you’ll find a passageway that takes you into the Season and a new area within the village. In this area you, too, may discover ways that music brings meaningful moments to life!

Complete the first Seasonal Quest to open the concert hall which also holds a room with colorful outfits, instruments, accessories, musical decor, and more that capture your favorite parts of the story.

As the Season progresses, you’ll meet a second spirit, and receive a special version of the double bow expression that you can use with a friend. As the quests unfold, the Season invites you to learn a song that holds a special meaning and experience more of Sky’s music feature—it is Season of Duets, after all!

The Duets Guide also brings several items in their Friendship Tree: Season Pass holders have the chance to unlock three Ultimate Gifts, and a mask can be unlocked for regular Candles even after the Season ends.

Season of Duets begins at 00:00 July 15th and continues until 23:59 September 29th (all times PDT, UTC -7).
Tournament of Triumph
A brand new event opens in the realms for the first time! From 00:00 July 29th through 23:59 August 18th, join a rotating series of games that will have you running, leaping, soaring, even scampering through some of the best-known places in Sky.

Enter the tournament by teleporting from Aviary or Home to a special version of the Coliseum. Each day until the day of the closing ceremony (August 18th) you can participate in two different games, where you can enjoy some lighthearted and friendly competition with fellow Sky kids. Speed is helpful as you race along, but you may find sometimes it’s not the only thing you’ll need.

Like other events, Tournament of Triumph will offer event currency that you can exchange for IGC (in-game currency) items. We’re trying something new, so these will be available in a unique, flexible format!
  • 2 event currency in the event area daily
  • Event currency pool 1: 25 in the first ten days of the event
  • Event currency pool 2: 25 in the second ten days of the event
  • 5 event currency in the event area on the last day (Aug. 18)

Players can earn one event currency each time they complete a Tournament game, including after repeating a game, up to the total number of event currency available in each “pool.” Then, 25 more become available when the second half of the Tournament begins.

Event Items
  • Tournament Curls: 25 event currency
  • Tournament Torch: 37 event currency
  • Tournament Golden Garland: $4.99
  • Tournament Tunic: $9.99

These can be unlocked by speaking with the Event Guide Spirit or purchased from the shop in the main menu. Free trial spells are also available in the event area, Event Shop in Aviary Village, or Home.
New Feature: Comments for Player Creations
Many of us like to send gestures of encouragement when we watch Shared Memories, visit Shared Spaces, or read Message Boats—”liking” what someone made, perhaps even sending a Heart for something that we really enjoyed. Sometimes, though, you want to let the other player know exactly how they affected you.

So in 0.26.0 we’re adding an option to write comments on Player Creations! This way, even if you can’t chat with the person who created something you enjoyed, you can still leave a little note for them.

To leave a comment on a Creation you like, tap on the speech bubble in the Creation menu. Each person can leave one comment.

It’s important to us that comments are a way for players to connect more meaningfully with each other. So we’ve designed them accordingly:
  • When you view comments, you’ll see comments from friends and people who have opted to see more of your Creations first, and then after that, popular comments from the larger Sky Community.
  • Don’t worry if you don’t speak the same language, comments can be translated just like chat!
  • See a comment that’s inappropriate? Please hide or report it so that we can keep Sky a safer and more inviting place.
  • If you prefer that your own Creation remain without comments, you can always disable them by using the “...” menu after placing the Creation.

Note: Comments can be “liked,” but these do not result in Hearts for the commenter, and Hearts may not be given to comments.
Improvements and Bug Fixes in this update include:
Highlights
  • Fixed carry and handhold links breaking when transitioning from Wind Paths to Hermit Valley.
  • Fixed coloring for the Abyss ultimate cape.
  • Updated a few more backpack meshes with new designs.
  • Updated and optimized the Spirit NPC models for Jolly Geologist, Bumbling Boatswain, Stretching Lamplighter, Lively Navigator, Dancing Performer, Marching Adventurer, and Baffled Botanist. The new models improve clipping issues, avoid awkward cape placement caused by the shoulder piece, and give these weary souls a bit of TLC…and a more comfortable neck, to be honest.

Want more details about some other fixes in this patch? Read the full list below!

Gameplay
  • The game is a bit more lenient when counting what "good" and "great" notes are while playing an instrument. (This also applies to the music sheet challenges in Harmony Hall!)
  • Fixed inability to teleport home while holding out a candle.
  • Chibis aren't prevented from picking up the daily Seasonal Candle just because they're wearing certain shoes.
  • Props won’t lose functionality when you start recording a Shared Memory and then try to place the prop in it.
  • Fixed a controller bug that prevented players from taking the hand of a friend without it being offered.

Cosmetics
  • Fixed certain hairstyles not being attached to a Sky kid's head if they were wearing face paint-style masks.
  • The Festival Scepter won't float in front of you when you're in handhold and start running, swimming, or sliding.
  • Reduced the glow of the Days of Love Flowery Archway.
  • Fixed hairstyles from Season of Assembly and Season of the Nine-Colored Deer clipping when using the skip expression.

General Fixes & Improvements
  • Fixed audience reaction menu missing from AURORA concert.
  • Chibi Sky kids can now cook marshmallows by standing in front of the stove prop. Careful though—don’t cook them for too long, wouldn’t want to let them burn!
  • Side hug interaction animates correctly if two players use it at the same time.
  • Text hint appears if a player tries to unlock something for event currency but doesn't have enough in their inventory.
  • Fixed cases of Shared Space spells placed in levels not appearing for other players.
  • When the closet menu is open, the Help question mark icon is easier to tap on devices with a small touch screen.
  • It’s important to teach children to put their toys away when they’re done with them. This is why now, if a Sky kid wants to sit or lay down while they have props like the Dark Horn equipped, they will put them away instead of leaving them hanging in the air like they had been doing.
  • Skipping a Season of Dreams memory quest cutscene won't relocate the player to a different location in the level.
  • Banished that stubborn red dot that would appear next to a new friend in your Friendship Constellation and couldn’t be cleared.
  • Fixed a UI bug that prevented players from closing the menu on the blocked players list.
  • Called in the construction crew to fill in various holes in the Aviary Village area.
  • Fixed feet cosmetics clipping into the ground when using the chibi mask or shrink spell.
  • In the Secret Area accessible from Vault of Knowledge, fixed color of the floor terrain on the second floor back to white.
  • If a player has a Days of Fortune tiger mask pin, scanning it won’t erroneously use up a tiger mask consumable spell that the player may have in their inventory.
  • [PC] Emojis appear correctly when using Windows 10’s emoji keyboard shortcut.
  • [Steam Deck] Fixed missing translate, report, and mute functions in the chat log.
  • The rock decided to visit the colorful festivities that all the Sky kids were honking about. They couldn't use the hair tint spells, but a kind jellyfish friend helped out by pretending to be a pretty hat. They had lots of fun together, racing across rainbows and going super fast! The Sky kids didn't even see the rock zooming through and finishing in first place!
Known Issues Patch 0.26.0
We are aware of the following bugs that are ongoing or were introduced with the arrival of Patch 0.26.0:

  • The spirit prompts are missing from the final quest of Season of Remembrance.
  • Friends may appear offline in the Friendship Constellation.
  • Some players may experience issues with gifting IAP to other players.
  • Shard Events are interrupted when opening edit mode of a nearby Shared Space.
  • Players may notice appearance/shadowing issues on their Sky kid’s hair and cape when a Season of Duets instrument is equipped.
  • When interacting through the instrument stand, Sky kids may not have walking animation after using Season of Duets instruments or the Violin.

We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience these may cause while we work to resolve them in a future update.

Soaring Together in Days of Color 2024

Sky shines because of the mosaic that players create. It brightens not just the realms, but the entire player community in and out of the game. This month, we celebrate that mosaic with the return of Sky’s most vibrant event: Days of Color!
Where All Colors Can Shine
For two weeks starting on June 24th PDT, a kaleidoscope of brilliant rainbows, shining capes, and colorful Spirits will celebrate the diverse world we share. To join in, talk with Spirits in Aviary Village or Home and they’ll teleport you to a bright, spacious area floating above the clouds above Daylight Prairie Village.

There you’ll find a rainbow puzzle that grows each day. Complete that puzzle and you’ll reveal a new Days of Color feature that can satisfy your Sky kid’s need for speed. Don’t have what you need for the puzzle? Take a dip in a magical geyser nearby that will add a special splash of color to your cape (and more)!

With a host of updates for this year’s event, you just might find yourself in your new favorite place in Sky, too. These festivities are all about celebrating the tapestry we create together, sharing a message of hope and the beauty of a world where all colors can shine.
Event Currency
While you soar around the event area, look for four rainbow-shaped event currency around the area. Don’t forget the one you’ll get from completing the day’s color puzzle, too! Use these to unlock this year’s new in-game currency items: a colorful glam cut hairstyle, and a dark, stylish rainbow mask.
Making a Difference
We’re proud to share that we’ll once again be supporting The Trevor Project, the world’s leading suicide prevention and mental health organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people. The Trevor Project’s programs include crisis services, education, peer support for people around the world, and other efforts that ensure young people can have the chance to thrive no matter who they are.

We’ll be making a donation to The Trevor Project in association with the Days of Color campaign, so stay tuned for announcements that reveal the total amount after the event has concluded. We invite you to join us in supporting The Trevor Project this month!
2024 Days of Color Campaign Items
• New this year—Dark Rainbow Loafers: $19.99
    • As a token of gratitude in return, 75 regular Candles are included with the purchase of this campaign pack
Other Event Items
There will be plenty of other outfits and accessories to choose from if you’re looking for a souvenir for the occasion. For starters, a new bubble machine in the in-game shop creates bubbles that will change to match cape colors. And if you had your sights set on something from past years of the event, browse through the event shop, the Friendship Trees of the event guide Spirits, or the in-game shop menu to find just the piece you’re looking for!
A Sky for All Colors
Days of Color begins at 00:00 June 24th and continues until 23:59 July 7th PDT (UTC -7). The clouds above are waiting to welcome every player to bring their own unique hues to the celebration. So grab your favorite cape and join the festivities! Together, we can make the skies a place where all of our colors can come together and thrive. We’ll see you there!

SkyFest 2024 Updates: Tickets & More

Time has flown since our announcement in April, and now SkyFest will be happening in Tokyo in less than two months! Everyone at TGC is working at full steam to prepare for Sky’s birthday—after all, a 5-year celebration has to be extraordinary both in Sky and in-person. To find out more, read on for the latest news about SkyFest and how to get your tickets.
What is SkyFest?
SkyFest is our first ever simultaneous in-person and in-game Sky Assembly event! SkyFest combines the experience of an in-game Sky event with the in-person Sky gatherings held across the world, creating an incredible celebration we’d love to share with everyone for the game’s 5th anniversary.

If you haven’t heard about SkyFest yet, check out this blog post first: bit.ly/SkyFest2024

As you can see, there’s going to be a lot—it’s more than just an in-game event, and it goes beyond merely an in-person gathering. So today we’re taking a closer look at what awaits you at SkyFest 2024 in Tokyo!

DATE: July 13-14 (all times Japan Standard Time)
  • 2 Sessions per day:
  • Session 1: 9:00-13:00
  • Session 2: 14:00-18:00

LOCATION: Shinjuku Sumitomo Sankaku Hiroba (2-6-1 Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan)
Main Stage Programs Confirmed!
TGC teams will take the stage to share a whole variety of talks about Sky’s development, and Jenova Chen, the creative director of Sky himself, will give a keynote speech to players on Sky’s future. There will be all kinds of tidbits about the animation project and new friends who may show up in Sky. And not to mention, voice actor and Sky Special Supporter Yuki Kaji will be at the venue to celebrate Sky's birthday too!

Each session will have something different, so be sure to get a ticket if there’s one you want to attend. After the event we’ll be sharing recordings of the keynote and other talks. But we did want to mention this—The “Let's Explore the History of Sky Together!” talk will be linked to activities in Sky. We’ll share more details about the parts of SkyFest that take place in the game, so stay tuned!
Venue Attractions and More
SkyFest will also feature exhibits related to Sky's art and history. Take them in as you wander from one exhibit area to another—even through a recreation of Aviary Village.
  • Aviary Village: Enjoy this iconic space as if you were a Sky kid.
  • Main Stage: The main stage is located at the far end of the venue, but the large screen should mean that you’ll be able to see it no matter where you are.
  • History of Sky: An assortment of images and scenes will show the history of Sky’s creation.
  • Art of Sky: Like walking through the pages of the art book, explore the art that shaped Sky during its development.
  • Harmony Hall Crafting Corner: Anyone can make their own Nest! Join April-Sensei from the Crafting Corner to make a craft designed especially for SkyFest.
  • TGC Office: Walk through this recreation of the Secret Area as if you yourself were TGC staff.
  • Art Book Signing Session: The three authors of The Art of Sky—Jennie Kong, Yui Tanabe, and Cecil Kim—will gather to sign your artbook (or any Sky merchandise).
  • thatskyshop Special Pop-up Store: Featuring items to celebrate the 5th anniversary! Accessible from the free admission area as well (more about the different admission areas below).
  • Sound Bath: If you need a break, be sure to visit the Sound Bath located in the free admission area!

We’ll share more details (and pictures!) as the event approaches. Of course, a number of TGC staff will be around, too. and we’ve heard that some of the Elders might be there as well. Who knows what could be possible? What we can say for now is that SkyFest is meant to be experienced, not just watched. With so much happening, we hope there’s something for every Child of the Light to explore!

Again, for safety reasons admission to this event is limited to ages 7 and older regardless of the type of ticket purchased.
Free Admission Area
The main ticketed area is separate from the rest of the venue, but the spacious corridor that wraps around the perimeter is open to all visitors so anyone can enjoy themed photo spots and (albeit from a distance) sculptures recreated from in-game scenery. Not to mention, TGC staff may pass through this area too, so go ahead and say hello if you see any of us! The Sound Bath and thatskyshop pop-up store will also be located in the free admission area and open to all during the event hours.

We’ll also be handing out cards with special Sky codes to everyone who comes to the event! This code can be used in-game to receive 25 regular Candles plus a set of spells that include something blue, something delicious, something sparkly, and maybe some other fun anniversary extras (Sky code cards are also included with paid ticketed admission).

Two hours after the start of each session, up to 100 non-ticket holders will be invited into the venue area, depending on how crowded it gets (a dedicated line will be made for this).
However, please note that perks for ticket holders such as the Daily Quest activities will not apply for non-ticket holders. The Main Stage and the Harmony Hall Crafting Corner will also not be accessible.

*Whether ticketed or non-ticketed, those who enter the event area must be at least 7 years old. Similarly, elementary and junior high school-age attendees must be accompanied by a guardian.
A Few Notes If You Attend
We wanted to mention just a few other things to be aware of if you decide to join us in-person at SkyFest:

  • First, TGC staff and related personnel may take videos and photos inside and outside the venue. Attendees may also be filmed or photographed for official TGC promotions and social media posts in the future. Please be aware that by attending the event, you’ll be agreeing to let us use videos and images that you may be in.
  • As a reminder, elementary and junior high school students need to be accompanied by a guardian at all times. If you bring younger Sky kids with you, please do not leave them unattended in the venue area.
  • Eating is not permitted in the venue area. You may bring your own beverages, but please use containers with lids that can properly close. Absolutely no alcoholic beverages are allowed in the venue area. We may ask you to leave if you are under the influence of alcohol.
  • Please refrain from bringing large luggage such as duffel bags or carry-on suitcases, as we will not be able to accept any luggage. Please keep your valuables close to you.
  • We definitely welcome you to bring fanart and take pictures with them around the exhibits. However, please do not bring large or fragile items, or items that may harm people around you (items with sharp corners, long objects, etc.).
  • Attendees are welcome to wear costumes and other cosplay at the venue, but changing clothes at or in the vicinity of the venue will not be permitted.
  • Please do not distribute your fanart or other works at the venue.
  • We ask everyone to follow the instructions of the staff at the venue.

Whew that’s a lot of info! Glad you made it to the end. We know this is quite a bit for one blog article (one of our longest so far), but we couldn’t help but share the details—We’re getting more and more excited about the event and we hope that you are too!

Most of all, though, we hope that SkyFest will be a memorable event that Sky kids will enjoy together as they celebrate Sky's 5th birthday in a spectacular way! If you’re in Japan and are interested in coming, consider purchasing tickets or even just coming by for a visit.

Stay tuned to our Japanese social media channels for announcements when applications begin for the ticket lottery. We hope to see you at the SkyFest, both in game and in person in Tokyo!

Patch Notes - May 23, 2024 - 0.25.5 (264243)

Hello everyone! This update brings a slew of bug fixes, plus the rest of the Season and some updates to Nests and the Nesting Challenge Board. Mark your calendars for two favorites on the Sky event calendar, too: Days of Nature and Days of Color!
Season of Nesting Continues
This patch brings the second half of the Season, with new quests to share with the Nesting Guide—not to mention new features and improvements for your Nest. The update has tweaks for improved lighting in your Nest at night, more unique animations for avatars as they sit on different types of furniture, plus a new feature that we’re hoping will spark inspiration for everyone—an option in your Nest menu to view other Nests.

You’ll be able to “scroll” through a preview of these Nests that favors ones your friends have made while also showing Nests that other players have made too. It’s just a preview, though, so you won’t see anyone in this view, and other players won’t see anyone who might be viewing their Nest through this feature either.

What you’ll see in the 0.25.5 update is the first version of this view feature. We want to use your feedback as we keep building on it, so once the next patch goes live and you get a chance to try it out, let us know what you think in the #live-feedback channel on our Discord server and feedback threads on our official Facebook page!

Season of Nesting continues until 23:59 June 30th (all times PDT, UTC -7).
Nesting Challenge Board
Don’t forget, the Nesting Challenge Board is a permanent addition to the game, so its quests (and rewards) will remain in the game even after the Season ends. The remaining quests can be unlocked beginning in this patch (but again, no rush on these—they’re sticking around).

After completing all the challenges in a tree, several props will be available to unlock: an instrument stand, a music player, and a stone figurine.
  • Instrument stand: Use it to set out any one instrument from your closet to play. If it’s placed in an area where other players can interact with it, they can play the instrument you set out!
  • Music player: Plays various pieces of music that are in the game. There are several “channels” that have their own musical themes.
  • Stone figurine: A decorative figure that can wear any hairstyle, hats, neck items, or capes you have in your closet. (This is a decorative item only; it will not allow players to copy and wear the same items that the stone figurine is wearing.)
Days of Nature
Days of Nature brings a new experience to Prairie Peaks! From 00:00 May 27th through 23:59 June 16th, join your fellow Sky kids and a group of determined Spirits to help protect the mountain river—a Shard Eruption during the event threatens the waters of one of Sky’s most pristine spaces.

Each week brings a different phase as the Spirits try and retry to build a device that can contain the eruption’s Darkness. Clear the pollution to earn Light, but beware! A new creature is at home in that Darkness, and they don’t appreciate it when Sky children get too close…

During the event you can find 4 event currency each day, placed in different spots around Prairie Peaks. Use these to unlock this year’s new IGC items:
  • Ocean Mask: 16 event currency
  • Ocean Blue Scarf: 40 event currency

This year the event will again offer special IAPs to support charity efforts focused on real-world cleanup work in oceans and waterways.

Half of the total list price of items listed here will be donated to these efforts. The remaining amount will cover platform fees and a portion of development. (Platform fees: the amount that all developers are charged for each sale on platforms such as the Apple App Store, Google Play, etc. Development: includes operations, taxes, and post-event refunds.)
Days of Color
From 00:00 June 24th through 23:59 July 7th, the skies will again be filled with vibrant rainbows reflecting the diverse world we share!

Talk to Spirits in Aviary Village or Home to join them in an area high above the Daylight Prairie Village. There you can unlock a colorful rainbow puzzle day by day (with friends or solo)—and take a dip in a magical geyser that will add a splash of color to your avatar’s cape and more.

Once the day’s color puzzle is unlocked, soar into a new area to enjoy enchanting scenery and a brand new racecourse that can host some friendly runs through its twists and turns. With a host of improvements this year, you just might find yourself in your new favorite place in Sky, too. These festivities are all about celebrating the tapestry we create together, sharing a message of hope and the beauty of a world where all colors can shine.

As you soar around the event space, watch out for 5 rainbow-shaped event currency each day: 4 around the area, and 1 from completing the day’s color puzzle.

This year we’re proud to once again share that we’ll be supporting the The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and mental health organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people. The Trevor Project’s programs include crisis services, education, peer support for people around the world, and other efforts to ensure young people can have the chance to thrive no matter who they are.

  • Updated Daily Quest list UI.

Want more details about some other fixes in this patch? Read the full list below!
General Fixes & Improvements
• Fixed white narrative candles giving Light. This doesn’t affect the total amount of Light available in the game from red candles.
  • [iOS] First round of changes to support bluetooth keyboard gameplay on iOS.
  • Fixed an exploit that allowed a player to use and then cancel a Shared Spaces spell in order to recharge with it, without consuming the spell.
  • Picking up a plushie in a Shared Space or Nest while in preview mode should no longer risk launching it into the air or out the window.
  • Additional fixes to ensure new default hairstyles persist between game sessions.
  • Fixed some audio distortion issues that could occur after prolonged play.
  • Fixed a bug that activated the prop cooldown timer in the expression menu when a player used a controller or keyboard to attempt to retrieve a prop.
  • Heart Gift text is no longer blocked by the Meditation Pad hint text when claiming a Heart at the Return Shrine in Home.
  • Potential resolution for a bug that was preventing some players from sending Hearts through the Friendship Constellation. (This one was tricky to investigate and reproduce internally, so we’ll continue to monitor the bug report channels/threads on Discord and Facebook in case folks are still encountering it!)
  • [Steamdeck] The previous sent message isn’t duplicated in the chat input box when opening it.
Gameplay
• When a player exits the game, any friends who were with them in their Nest are now moved back to Aviary Village.
  • To prevent cases where a player would be spawned beneath the map, using the elevator to go to your Nest now breaks handhold.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed interactions with items, Player Creations, and other objects during preview mode for a Shared Space or Nest.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented equipped props from being placed in your Nest until you had entered and exited edit mode.
  • Fixed an error that allowed placement of items outside of Nests.
  • In Festival Tech mode, when a player transitions levels they’ll stay with the same group of Festival Tech avatars.
  • Unified functionality for all Player Creations that allows a player to see the same Creation that someone who isn’t their friend is viewing.
  • The turtle in Sanctuary Island is back to their regular schedule.
  • NOTE: An ongoing bug is preventing the footbag prop from functioning when it’s placed in a Shared Space or Nest. We’re continuing to work on a permanent fix for this issue, but for now the prop will temporarily be unplaceable in Shared Spaces and Nests to reduce confusion the bug may cause.
Cosmetics
• Added countdown timers to all the seasonal items in the Nesting Workshop to more directly indicate that these will no longer be available after Season of Nesting ends.
  • Updated and added backpacks to carry some of the furniture props that looked kinda awkward squished down onto avatars’ backs.
  • Corrected the color of one of the Season of Gratitude capes.
  • Spikes for the base game mohawk hairstyle are spikier.
  • Slight tweak to Bearhug Hermit horn accessory to match boots.
  • Backend optimization for some hairstyles, which may make the red hair clip on the Sparkler Parent hairstyle appear a bit more vibrant.
  • The light from the Season of Assembly lantern shines in the correct direction.
  • Potential resolution for a shader issue that made Season of Rhythm hairstyles look metallic.
Graphics & Appearance
• Polished Player Creations menu UI.
  • Fixed a slew of bugs where the player’s arms or feet would clip into a furniture item.
  • Your Sky kid’s eyes should now close when you’re sleeping on the stone-made bed.
  • Fixed a quirk where the camera would randomly pull back a little after your avatar stood still for a bit.
  • When another player rings the bells in Aviary Village, it won’t cause your avatar to do the animation as if you were the one ringing them.
  • [iOS] Fixed a bug with the Season of Moments camera prop—now when in-game recording while using that camera, the recording UI will continue to display properly even if you put the Moments camera away.
  • No more really uncomfortable-looking torso twisting when a player takes the Hopeful Steward’s hand at the beginning of the first Revival quest.
  • Realigned timer with icon when viewing an activated spell icon in the expression menu.
Known Issues Patch 0.25.5
We are aware of the following bugs that are ongoing or were introduced with the arrival of Patch 0.25.5:

  • Valley of Triumph race doors do not appear to open for players that do not sit at the meditation circles. However, a friend that has sat and opened the doors can hold hands with these friends and pull them through to the race.
  • When other players sit at a Season of Assembly or Season of Flight Guide quest meditation circle, and/or sitting at meditation circles for Shard Eruptions, players in the same instance will automatically be engaged in the quest or activity.
  • Some players may experience a crash when viewing a Shared Memory that includes the instrument stand.
  • The instrument stand is not displaying properly in Shared Memories.
  • The prop meter in the Nest’s decoration mode is not properly updating when adding and removing props.

We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience these may cause while we work to resolve them in a future update.

Aid a River in Need: Days of Nature 2024

Prairie Peaks is usually a haven away from the remains of the kingdom, but starting on May 27th, Spirits and Sky children alike will be called to aid the river that brings life to the area when Days of Nature returns.

For three weeks, Shard Eruptions and the Darkness they bring threaten the health of Prairie Peaks’ waters. Spirits will be on hand to build a device that keeps the corruption from spreading downstream, but it’s up to Sky kids to capture its pollution and stop it from impacting the spaces around the river.

“Well you’re in luck,” we hear you say. “I happen to be something of an expert at clearing away Darkness.” That’s reassuring, because it turns out this Shard Eruption has attracted a new type of Dark Creature—one who’s not as eager for the debris to be cleared from their new home. Be sure to team up and be quick on your feet to dodge them as you aid the river and your fellow players (or alternately let them share their hugs with you, we support your choice of either play style).

As you fly and swim and roll around the area, don’t forget to watch out for event currency! Four can be found around the area each day. Use them to unlock a mask with a splash of glittering blue, and an ocean-themed scarf in shades of sapphire and turquoise.

As for other new and returning items, we’ll have those too! If you’re looking for more new outfit items, the Nature Wave-Touched Hair may add some cerulean to your style, and the Nature Wave Pack captures the movement of a running river in cape form.

Not to mention, all the classics from past years will be back, from the translucent Nature School Cape to the Nature Turtle Pack and even the 2020 original, the vibrant green Earth Cape.
2024 Charity Items
We’re also pleased to share that the majority of IAP items sold during Days of Nature will support real-world cleanup efforts in oceans and waterways. These are the items listed below. A little more than half of the total list price for each item sold will be donated. Of the remaining amount, 30% will cover platform fees and 20% to a portion of development.

(Platform fees: the amount that all developers are charged for each sale on platforms such as the Apple App Store, Google Play, etc. Development: includes operations, taxes, and post-event refunds.)

Once Days of Nature begins, talk to the Event Guide Spirits in Aviary Village, who can teleport you to Prairie Peaks and offer items to unlock in their Friendship Trees. Don’t forget, you can also head to the Sanctuary Islands area to play the activities from last year’s event, too (in case you need more quality time with the manatees).

Days of Nature begins at 00:00 on May 27th and continues until 23:59 June 16th. We can’t wait to see you in the skies (and in the waters) of Prairie Peaks!
