Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault News

Playtests Summary

[p]Hello Merchants! [/p][p][/p][p]On Monday, we wrapped up our round of Closed Playtests ahead of the Early Access launch, and what a journey it was!
[/p][p]After announcing the playtests, we received an overwhelming number of applications which was amazing. Because of your incredible enthusiasm, we decided not only to extend the playtests but also to increase the number of participants.
[/p][p]In total, we gathered feedback and data from over 5,000 players, along with more than 400 detailed survey responses.

Thank you so much for joining us on this adventure. From the very beginning, our goal has been to build a community-driven experience.

Here is what we learned from you:[/p][p][/p]

General Scores
[p]When asked, “How would you rate your overall gameplay experience with Moonlighter 2 during the playtests?” most of you rated it 8 or higher out of 10, with an average score of 8.55!

Especially, many of you highlighted the return of price-setting mechanics as a big improvement. We reworked the shop after the demo, and it clearly paid off! 90% of our Discord users mentioned this change as a positive change since the demo.
[/p][p]That is fantastic news for us, and we are thrilled that your experience with Moonlighter 2 has been much more positive than during demo release. Your feedback has given us even more courage that we are going into right direction.

Frequently Asked Questions
[p]The survey also gave you a chance to ask us about the game. Here are some of the most common topics and our answers to them:
[/p][p]Secret rooms in the dungeons:[/p][p]Yes! You can expect to find secrets hidden in the dungeons. We will not spoil too much, but keep your eyes open. You will be rewarded for your curiosity.
[/p][p]Upgrading the backpack:[/p][p]One of the vendors in Tresna will allow you to expand your backpack, giving you more space to carry your precious loot. Use it wisely!
[/p][p]Onsen rooms and more potions:[/p][p]Yes again! Eris, the alchemist you may remember from the first Moonlighter, will return to help you improve your survivability through upgrades and potions.[/p][p][/p][p]Stacking relics, quick-selling, and inventory transfers:[/p][p]These systems have been redesigned. Moonlighter 2 introduces a new backpack management mechanic that we believe feels much more satisfying.[/p][p]You can still use a “quick swap” button to move your currently held relic to the other side of the screen without accidentally activating its effect.[/p][p][/p][p]Loot from mobs:[/p][p]Loot is not limited to chests. Defeated enemies can also drop materials you will need for crafting and upgrades.[/p][p]

Things We Are Working to Improve
[p]We also collected plenty of great feedback on areas we can improve before launch. Here is what we are focusing on next:
[/p][p]Optimization and Performance:[/p][p]This is our top priority before Early Access. The team is working hard to make sure the game runs smoothly across different hardware setups.
[/p][p]UI and Keyboard/Mouse Controls:[/p][p]Expect improvements to interface usability and mouse navigation. You will be able to use your mouse on nearly all in-game buttons at release.
[/p][p]Dungeon Design and Information Clarity:[/p][p]We agree that arena variety can still be improved. However, in our opinion the game’s design encourages players to change biomes and weapons frequently, which helps keep the experience fresh and dynamic.
[/p][p]Balancing and Progression Pace:[/p][p]We have already made several economy and progression tweaks in the most recent build. If further balancing is needed after launch, we will adjust it quickly.[/p][p]
[/p]

[p][/p][p]We could not be more grateful for your support, feedback, such extensive activity. Together, we are shaping Moonlighter 2 into something truly magical and we couldn’t do it without you.

Prepare for the Early Access Launch and see you soon in Tresna!

Playtests Launch Today!

[p]Hello Shopkeepers!

A couple of days ago, we shared a new video titled "We Have Listened," where we explored the details of the latest changes in Moonlighter 2. We received an incredible amount of feedback from you, which we carefully reviewed. Here’s a look at the changes waiting for you in the upcoming playtests:
[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Set your own prices!
[p]
We’re bringing back the freedom to set your own relic prices, just like in the original Moonlighter. After all, this is a shopkeeping roguelike, and finding that perfect price is at the heart of the experience.
[/p][p]Now, alongside regular customers reacting to your prices, you’ll meet returning clients and use a new calendar system that makes certain relics more valuable on specific days.
[/p][p]With decorations offering unique effects, your shop becomes its own build to optimize each time you open the doors.
[/p][p]We’ve also toned down disasters and chaotic events, restoring the calmer rhythm that defines Moonlighter's dual core.

[/p]

Updated Backpack
[p]
Relics no longer show fixed prices. Instead, each has a quality value that acts as a multiplier back in the shop.
[/p][p]This subtle change deepens the shopkeeping fantasy by preserving the mystery of new relics while satisfying that “numbers go up” feeling many of you loved after the demo’s backpack puzzle.
[/p][p]And of course, different biomes bring their own effects and synergies to the mix - a roguelike within a roguelike.

[/p]

Enhanced Dungeon Pacing
[p]In the demo, we streamlined the roguelike structure to make Moonlighter 2 faster and more replayable. That still holds true, but we’ve also brought back the mystery of exploring the unknown.
[/p][p]Each run now includes a partially revealed map, letting you plan routes, take risks, and chase different rewards.
[/p][p]Combat feels tighter than ever, with improved balance, and responsiveness. With secret rooms, returning mini bosses, and quests scattered through dungeons, Moonlighter 2 blends discovery and pace like never before.

[/p]

[p]
We hope these changes make your upcoming runs even more thrilling! If you had access to the closed playtests, don’t forget to share your feedback - we’d love to hear your thoughts on the updates.

In advance, we would like to share a couple of well-known issues which you can encounter:[/p]
  • [p]Low resolution and low FPS on the initial cutscene on Steam Deck;[/p]
  • [p]Description texts in the UI may sometimes be blurry.
    [/p]
[p]Suggested Steam Deck graphics settings:[/p]
  • [p]Please set everything to Low and select either No Upscaling or FSR3 with the default profile.
    [/p]
[p]Thank you for helping us create this amazing adventure.

See you soon!

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault isn't closing up shop, but it has received a small delay out of a busy October

There just doesn't seem to be a good time to release a game right now, does there? We all saw the way that Hollow Knight: Silksong scared away plenty of games, even games with completely different genres. And sometimes it's just a case of a particular month being stacked - just this month alone there's Ghost of Yotei, Battlefield 6, Pokemon Legends Z-A, Ninja Gaiden 4, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, Dispatch, Arc Raiders, the list truly goes on. So, I really can't blame developer Digital Sun, who've announced that Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault has been delayed.

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault Early Access Release Moved to November

[p]Adventurers,
[/p][p]We have an update regarding the upcoming release of the Early Access of Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.
[/p][p]While our original plan was set for October 23, the month has filled up with so many other great releases that we feel it has become too crowded for us. And as every wise shopkeeper knows, even the most precious gem can be overlooked in an overstuffed showcase.
[/p][p]With that in mind, we’ve decided to move our release to November 19.
[/p][p]While we understand extending the wait isn’t the best news, we have a small treat for you! We plan to run Closed Playtests on Steam and via the Microsoft Store, allowing you to test some of the changes we have implemented in the game based on your feedback. You can expect more details on that very soon!
[/p][p]We truly appreciate your patience and understanding. Consider it a little extra time to sharpen your swords, restock your shelves, and prepare for the adventures ahead. [/p][p][/p][p]With gratitude,[/p][p]~ Digital Sun Team & 11 bit studios teams[/p][p]
