A bit on how Core Lords works 2# - Controlling Elemental Cores!
The Core Types
The “Cores” in Core Lords are concentrated elemental energy focused and controlled by you. There are 4 types of Cores: Stonecores, Windcores, Watercores and Flamecores.
Summoning and Selecting
Cores are summoned or controlled from the world.
 • Stonecores are specifically sized pieces of stone that can be selected and moved, dropped, pulled from the ground etc.
 • Watercores and Flamecores and summoned from water and flame sources, such as rivers and lava pools.
 • Windcores are easily accessed from environments with air to spin up.
Movement and Action Points
In the Action State (and Combat), cores can be moved with action points, both horizontally and vertically. Summoning will, in most cases, cost action points too. Cores can often be destroyed early to refund action points.

As long as you have action points, you can transform the world to your goals.
Unleash!
On leaving the Action State or ending a turn in combat, the Cores that are suspended by player control will trigger - dropping, falling, pushing, exploding - all sorts of things you can experiment with!

All sorts of interactions can happen, with the Cores being used to explore, solve puzzles, clear obstacles and battle enemies and bosses! (more detail on these in the next article)

Next up:
Cores Interaction!
Here we will go into more detail on the Cores and how the they interact with each other.

In the meantime, give the demo a go and give me some feedback if you can!

Cheers,
Chris

A bit on how Core Lords works 1# - Movement and States

Hello hello! I will be doing some updates and posts about how the game works. First up is Movement and States:
States
Core Lords has two states, Exploration and Action. When in Exploration, movement is done through real-time navigation. But at almost any time you can jump into Action, which moves into a turn-based mode. Combat is done in the Action state as you might have guessed.
Action Points
Core Lords uses a shared Action Point system for ALL actions, including Action Movement. It does not use a separate “movement” resource.

Move one step, use one action point!
Movement
Core Lords uses the usual horizontal planes but also emphasizes verticality of levels to battle and solve puzzles. The arena you are fighting in will shift and change as rocks fall and form, buildings crumble and dangerous elements block your path.

Because of this, you are able to make some jumps across gaps and drop down jumps. Nothing crazy here.

You can also suspend Stonecores (blocks of stone) using your powers to make temporary or semi-permanent paths as well, but more on that later.

Here we will go into the meat of the game: The Elemental Cores!

In the meantime, give the demo a go and give me some feedback if you can!

Cheers,
Chris

The demo will give a taste of the game, having a short intro to the story, world and mechanics. Roughly 30-40 minutes of play.

You will also be able to jump into quick battles where you can play around with 2 out of the 4 Core powers that will be available in the game (Stone/Wind), so you can get a feel for the battle mechanics, more powerful enemies and the destructible world.

Heads up: The game is still fresh and will have bugs and missing quality-of-life features.
