Update 0.1.10.0 - Oil & Water!


[h2]We're sea-bound for treasure Strayers, one way or another![/h2]

The island's surrounding waters are now open for exploration - be it for treasures on the seas, or of others' demise! 😎

With the introduction of motorized small boats, ocean junkpiles, fuel, and a new water shader, Strayed Update 0.1.10.0 will be our biggest feature update yet. These additions will surely change the meta, especially for those strategic Strayers out there!

Let's take a boat ride and see what we'll get from this update!



[h2]Small Boats - Powered Navigation![/h2]



The time for motorized vehicles has arrived - starting with something for the seas! Introducing - Small Boats. These motorized boats seat up to four Strayers simultaneously, with a small engine at one end capable of consuming basic fuel to traverse the seas.

Found randomly along sandy coasts, you'll find boats without fuel by default. To start the boat's motor, you'll have to put basic fuel into the fuel container at the driver's feet and grab the pull-start handle and pull repeatedly until it starts. Once it's started, you can use the steering grip to go forward or backward, or to turn left or right.



While the boat's capable of motorized navigation like never-before-seen on Strayed, keep in mind that you're pretty much in the open when you're using it. Also, the small engine can be heard by anyone within hearing range!

We've mentioned Basic Fuel a few times - now's the time to introduce the juice!



[h2]Basic Fuel - Nature's Fire Starter![/h2]



How else would you run a motorized vehicle without its juice? Human civilization's finest discovery is now on the islands!

To craft Basic Fuel, you'll need 2 Cloth and 4 Charcoal. Sounds easy? Remember, you'll need more than one if you're planning on a boat trip!

The addition of the Basic Fuel sets us up and solidifies future plans we have for Strayed. But for now, use Basic Fuel to power up your small boat and roam the island like no common Strayer!

Talking about roaming the island, let's give you more reasons to navigate the waters...



[h2]Ocean Junkpiles - Treasure afloat![/h2]



In the last few updates, we've added roadside junkpiles, which made good sense for the common Strayer. Now that there's a boat to travel across the seas, we're making it a point for you to have more reasons to sail!

Ocean Junkpiles - similar to its roadside counterpart - are what you would expect from them, albeit floating on water. Use small boats to gain access to these floating junks we Strayers fondly call treasure!

Update 0.1.9.0 - Refining the Rough

From winning battles against cheats, to squashing game-breaking bugs - this is more than just your regular update!🔥

Strayed Update 0.1.9.0 brings in more than just a few changes and fixes. We're introducing deep improvements to our anti-cheat system and dramatic quality-of-life improvements à la server migrations and bug-squishing!

Let's delve more into what we've done for this update!



[h2]The War Against Cheaters - A Continuous Battle[/h2]



Since time immemorial, the islands have had its fair share of cheaters trying to take unfair advantage over our real players. Since then, we've been working hard to be more than a step ahead of these so-ridiculously-called "hackers".

We're glad to inform you that our efforts aren't in vain - as we have gone a long way since starting the battle. Within the last two weeks, our team were all-hands-on-deck on improving our anti-cheat system. In short - we're very happy with the amount of progress we've made against Strayed cheats.

But the battle continues. For as long as we're working on the game, we won't stop fighting against cheaters as we continue to bring the best experience for each Strayer out there.



[h2]Server Migrations - Improved Backup Stability![/h2]



Lately, we have had issues in-game that we were addressing by restarting our servers - however - problems came up with unstable backups leading to more issues and unfavorable experiences for our players.

We're happy to let you know that we've dramatically improved our backup stability by migrating our servers from SQLite to MySQL. This should mitigate (if not, completely eliminate) data loss whenever our servers restart.



[h2]What's Next for Strayed?[/h2]



You may have noticed that we haven't had major additions to the game lately.

We'd love for you to know that we're focused on developing our Water Content, which is a particularly large update coming very soon. This is majorly our reason for not adding a lot of features and changes recently.

Another major reason are the updates mentioned above. While we're eager to commit to our roadmap of features, we felt that laying the groundwork would do well for everyone involved - especially our players. We wanted to make sure that everything's running smoothly before we add more stuff to the game.

Fret not, Strayer - we're working hard to bring not just the Water Content but more as soon as possible. We assure you that you'll be first to know once they're coming!



[h2]Other Additions, Fixes, Changes and Known Issues[/h2]

Besides the additions and news above, here's what's on the 0.1.9.0 changelog:

Additions:
  • Scrap barrels now spawn along roadsides
  • Servers can now display messages on the loading screen
Changes:
  • Server backups are more stable (We moved from Sqlite to MySQL)
Fixes:
  • Tons of cheat exploits
  • "Server is full" bug
  • Bug preventing some quest players from loading into servers
  • Increased speed of “baking terrain” loading stage
Known Issues:
  • Biweekly and other large servers sometimes timeout on Meta Quest 2 & 3
  • Voice server may suddenly stop working

Update 0.1.8.0 - Laser Sight, Deer and Chicken!



[h2]Another update, Strayer! The tame "beasts" are back, and a certain laser attachment... 🎯[/h2]

Time to hunt for food - and be equipped for accuracy!

Strayed Update 0.1.8.0 re-introduces Deer and Chickens, and adds the Laser Sight gun attachment to the game!

Let's have a deeper look on what we should expect back on the island!



[h2]Deer and Chicken - Reloaded![/h2]



Back in Update 0.1.6.0, we introduced Deer for our fellow hunters on the island. While it did its thing for some time, the team had to eradicate them (together with the Chickens) for technical reasons.



Now, the time to hunt for the good 'ol cluck and buck is back! This time, eradication won't be the overlord's objective. Get your bonfires ready, Strayers - we're having Venison & Chicken Dinner tonight!



[h2]Laser Sight - Crimson Accuracy![/h2]



Strayers - now's the time for pinpoint accuracy. Gone are the days of wonder when it comes to aiming down sights just to get that sweet hit. It's the era of the crimson light of death!



We don't mean to go overboard on this - but the Laser Sight attachment will surely twist the aiming meta out there. Attach this to your favorite weapon and you're already ahead of the aiming competition.



To balance it out, the heightened accuracy the Laser Sight brings comes with a caveat - it literally seeks attention. Anyone within visual range of it will see it even in dead darkness. Be mindful of how you use it, as it may bring more harm than good!



[h2]Other Features, Fixes & Changes[/h2]

Besides the return of the deer and chicken, and the addition of the Laser Sight, we're bringing in some changes for the better:

Small Fixes:
  • Disabling lock colliders when opening/closing doors (so doors won't push you)
  • Fixed being able to deal bullet damage to damageables through build pieces
  • Electricity objects no longer store large amounts of data (server performance)
  • Fixed disconnection error when disconnecting right when you spawn
  • Optimized building system for server performance
  • Fixed being able to see build piece health UI through walls
  • Fixed ability to place build pieces inside of deployables
  • Fixed being able to stack multiple half walls inside of each other

Update 0.1.7.0 - Hitting the Road!



[h2]Pack your rocks and apples, it's time to hit the road! 🛣️[/h2]

Actually, don't pack your bags fully - there's valuable junk by the roadside.

Strayed Update 0.1.7.0 introduces roads, roadside junkpiles and a myriad of fixes & polishes!

Let's see how much asphalt our benefactors have paved for us Strayers!



[h2]Roads[/h2]



Procedurally generated, asphalt roads can now be found near the islands' edges. Some have said that it goes on forever - though there might be some truth to it since it circles around the map rather than having a dead end.

Roads bring a lot of potential to Strayers' lives - may it be good or bad. While running down the asphalt, you'll encounter remnants of an abandoned civilization through roadside junkpiles.



Strayers are known to be as hungry and desperate for survival as they come. Some may call them junk; Strayers will call them treasures!



PRO TIP: Make sure you're prepared for your ventures on the road. Due to popular demand, junkpiles have become a common Strayer spot - meaning you'll be fighting more than you're used to in the wilderness when you're on the road.

The introduction of roads and roadside junkpiles is just the tip of the iceberg for our continued development of Strayed. Although, the roads are a little rough at the moment, since it's a work-in-progress. However, with Roads now in place, the destiny of some of the most awaited features have now been set in stone. We can't wait for you to experience Strayed just the way you want it to be!


[h2]Other Features, Fixes & Changes[/h2]

Besides the asphalt loop on the islands - thanks to our passionate community - we've worked on and patched bugs and added some polishes every Strayer would love to see!

Fixes:
  • Potential fix for junkpiles crates sometimes being invisible
  • Fixed incorrect max battery storage value
  • Fixed rocket damage on players
  • Fixed research bench removing attachments from gun
  • Fixed ability to med random objects
  • Potential fix for locked crates despawning
  • Fixed armor not disappearing sometimes off players
  • Fixed endlessly running resource producers (campfires, furnaces)

  • Potential fix for holdable objects not equipping serverside
  • Fixed workbench UI not updating when opening workbench
  • Fixed turrets being able to shoot through base pieces/rocks/high walls
  • Fixed hand freezing glitch when releasing grip on AK
  • Fixed being able to place deployables when UI elements are opened


Changes:
  • Added chance for turrets to miss shots
  • Slightly decreased turret damage
  • C4 will unequip when placed


Polishes:
  • Fixed hands moving weirdly when grabbing slides
  • Fixed map quickly opening when grabbing slides
  • Added smoothing to hand rotations/positions (most notable when aiming)
