Demonheart: The Cursed Trial - Chapter 5 is coming soon!

Hello, demonhearts!

I'm thrilled to announce that the text for Demonheart: The Cursed Trial, Chapter 5 is not only finished but also fully scripted into the game (at least for me!)

I'm excited to be one step closer to sharing it with all of you.

While the text is pretty much done, as usual, there's still some polishing work ahead. The next steps involve thorough testing and tweaking. I'll also be adding the final touches like music, sound effects, and any missing choices.

If I failed to include a conversation choice you would really like, you can tell me after the chapter comes out. I could include it, unless it requires me to write a whole new game around it. ːlaughing_yetiː

Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement!

Chapter 5 is almost ready!

April Devlog - Demonheart: The Cursed Trial

Hello, demonhearts!

I haven't posted a devlog in a while, but I have been working on the Cursed Trial from the shadows!

As of now, the content for Chapter 5 is 65% scripted and ready for testing, and I'm in the process of editing the rest of the text.

I'm excited about this new chapter, and a little afraid of your reactions when some plot details become public. At least it shouldn't leave you indifferent. ːlaughing_yetiː

Update v1.16

This update changes some more text in Day/Chapter 3.

After reading a lot of player theories on discord (thank you for posting theories), I realized the dream scene with the Assassin was not clear enough, and it led to some confusion. Part of the confusion is of course intended ːlaughing_yetiː but there was also an unintentional effect of this scene appearing like a flashback, when it's mainly meant to be a nightmare. In this update, I've reworded some of the Assassin's lines to hopefully sound like they are talking to the main character in the present and not as a flashback. I've also edited the main character's thoughts so that she sounds more secure when she states she did not really speak to the Assassin.

Update v1.15

This update changes some of the text and content in Chapter 3.
If you haven't played Chapter 3, please ignore the rest of this text, as it will be confusing and might include spoilers.
There has been more than one complaint about a certain part in Chapter 3 where the MC is thinking about Vita and the narration is leaning toward loving Vita. Some players played an MC who hates Vita, and got annoyed that the MC thinks she cares about her. Note, there were already different branches of narration written about it. It was dependent on Vita's approval points and your Good or Evil alignment. The problem arose if you were trying to roleplay a lying character and that's why you had a (fake) good relationship status with Vita. In this case, the game would assume you genuinely liked her. Many players do, and I thought it would be a bigger mistake to assume you don't. The game hardly has a way to know if you're lying or not.

In any case, this was an issue that bothered more than one player, so I decided to skip the mind-reading and let you pick an option. So now, please don't get annoyed if you get a really evil choice even if you love Vita... since it's also possible to hate her. Now it's a choice instead of invisible conditions that lead to a narration that assumes it knows what you think. The pro-Vita choice and the "Good" choice have conditions, so they will not always appear, but you don't need an extremely high amount of approval or Good points to see them. And the choice "forget Vita" will always appear.

Some things have stayed the way they were in order for the story to continue, but I hope Vita-simping has been reduced to an acceptable level.

I also added a few more choices around that part, Vita-related and Kaisar-related, and some more Good/Evil points.
