[p]Hey ISLANDERS friends![/p][p]We’ve got some exciting news for handheld players – ISLANDERS: New Shores is officially Steam Deck Verified! [/p][p]That means the full game (coming 10th July!) and the demo available now have been tested to make sure they run smoothly right out of the box on Steam Deck. And we’re happy to say it plays great – this chill, score-based city builder is right at home in your hands.[/p][p]We wanted to share a few tips if you’re curious about performance, battery life, and settings. Of course, you don’t need to tweak anything if you don’t want to – the game runs beautifully on default settings – but for those of you who like to optimise, here’s what we’ve found during our own play sessions:[/p][p]Default Experience[/p]

• [p]Capped at 60fps[/p]
• [p]Smooth and responsive – perfect for on-the-go relaxing builds[/p]
• [p]~3.5+ hours battery life on our older Deck[/p]

• [p]Low Graphics Preset[/p]
• [p]TDP limit to 4W[/p]
• [p]Manual GPU clock ~300MHz[/p]
• [p]Refresh rate capped at 40Hz[/p]
• [p]In-game v-sync set to 30fps[/p]
• [p]~5+ hours of play on a full charge[/p]

[p]If you’re new to tinkering with Steam Deck settings, don’t worry – you don’t need to adjust a thing. But for those of you who love to fine-tune, there’s room to stretch battery life even further while keeping things running smooth.[/p][p]And don’t forget – the demo is live right now! So what is the 2025 Content Roadmap? Great question!
Once ISLANDERS: New Shores is released on July 10th 2025, we have a few cool updates planned to release each month for the rest of 2025… for FREE!

Welcome back ISLANDERS fans to a fresh updated demo!
We took all of your feedback onboard from the 1st demo, and the devs have made multiple changes we think you’ll be pleased to see implemented into the new demo.

The demo is remaining open until ISLANDERS: New Shores releases (Summer 2025), keep your eyes peeled for exciting news coming soon…

So, what has changed in the updated demo? Balancing Adjustments:

• Fortune Teller: Score per building reduced from 3 → 2
  
• Aviary: Max score increased from 100 → 125
  
• Lumberjack: Penalty adjusted from -5 → -4
  
• Bargain: Count reduced from 2 → 1; penalty increased from 4 → 5
  
• Score Multiplier: 0.5 → 0.6
  
• Reroll Charges: 4 → 5
  
• Wisp: Score lowered from 5 → 4
  
• Nature Interaction: Increased from 2.5 → 3 score
  

UX/UI & Visual Adjustments:

• Replaced icon-based tooltips with default text (a highly requested change!)
  
• Slight UI color tweaks to improve score preview visibility
  
• Adjusted tint color to reduce confusion during illegal building placements
  
• Improved wall platform placement for smoother gameplay
  
• General polish and bug fixes
  
• If you’d like the images or text to be larger, check out the settings! You can decide how large you’d like the UI to be
  

Demo Specific Updates

• New island variations
  
• Larger islands
  
• Slightly extended gameplay (still limited to 3 islands!)
  
• New “Duplicate” boon introduced, replacing “Bargain”
  
• 4 new buildings:
  - Temple
  - Harbour
  - Verdure
  - Guild Hall
  
• New gameplay element:
  - Sacred Rocks
