Nikoderiko: The Magical World — Director’s Cut News

Luna’s Diary: Slide Into Snowland!

Hey, adventurers—Luna, here! Are you ready to check out the beautiful, fun, and downright dangerous realms that await you? As Niko and I journey through The Magical World, I’ve been making notes on each zone we visit to help out our fellow travelers.

There’s plenty of loot to pick up, and scenery to enjoy, so don’t forget to collect everything and see it all!

Next up: Snowland.

As mongooses, Niko and I don’t feel the cold very much—which was just as well in Snowland! This frigid realm had beautiful sunsets and snowstorms, as well as caves flooded with icy water, geysers, and steep cliffs.

Geyser Cliffs was up first, a wonderful winter landscape with snow-topped trees, sheer drops, and plenty of brr-azen baddies to defeat!

Next, we were swept up in the tides of Cold Waves, an underwater oasis full of sea life (some friendly, some not so much!). After we narrowly escaped being crushed by rocks and munched by mini sea monsters, we arrived at Riptor’s Rage.

The second we landed, we were under siege! Avoiding the cannons from Riptor was no easy feat, but we managed to escape relatively unscathed (with some armfuls of treasure, too!).

Barrelling into Junkyard Madness, Niko deftly leapfrogged over projectile tires, taking out foes on the way.
Soon we were lured into Robokong’s Cave with the promise of loot, but got more than we bargained for when it came to fighting Robokong itself!

Niko and I hope you enjoy each world you encounter on your adventures as much as we did! Luna, signin’ off!

Luna’s Boss Diary: Robokong

Hey adventurers, Luna here! As you journey through The Magical World with Niko and me, you’ll come across dangerous and devious Bosses! I’ve been making notes on every dastardly foe we see to help out our fellow adventurers.

Time to put the pedal to the metal! Next up: Robokong!
Robokong
Snowland may be cold, but its landscapes are beautiful enough to warm even the iciest heart! As we traversed the land and sea across this realm, we overcame flooded caves, geysers, and steep cliffs, but nothing as perilous as what would come next.

While taking a breather from our hike in a cave, we met one of the Baron’s henchmen—Screwy—who told us three devious monkeys stole his robot while he was napping, and that we should be on the lookout for any stray metal machines. We wouldn’t have to wait long. Niko spotted a banana, and as he munched on his snack, the monkeys appeared to avenge their fallen food!

You’ve heard of three monkeys in a trenchcoat, but trust me—three monkeys in a robot is much scarier and way less funny! Niko and I began hurling explosive barrels and dynamite at Robokong, dodging its punches and jumping over its spinning arm attacks.

Just when we thought we were out of the woods, Robokong appeared above us, and shaky platforms emerged underneath me and Niko from the lava below–talk about a molten point of contention! Robokong unleashed powerful hammer strikes that smashed more and more sections of the ground beneath us.

Robokong was tough, but we made it out with only a little bit of singed fur. He meant (monkey) business!

Niko and I wish you luck in your battles with each fearsome foe you meet. Luna, signin’ off!

Luna’s Diary: Swing Into Sky Vines!

Next stop: Sky Vines.

My favorite thing about our adventures is the beautiful places we get to experience, and Sky Vines did not disappoint. Niko seems more concerned with getting stuck right into the action. Luckily for him, there was no lack of that here!

Crazy Cannons was up first, which featured (you guessed it)—tons of cannons! Niko blasted his way through like a true daredevil until we made it to Dino Vines.

It was here we met up with our scaly ally (or scally!) Dino, who helped us out by letting us hitch a ride on his back while gobbling up our foes and spitting them out, and smashing through obstacles with ease.

Swinging Shrine Falls was the next stop on our adventure. While I marveled at the stunning architecture, Niko was leaping across moving platforms, avoiding spikes, and taking out countless foes both above ground and in the waters below.

Soon we arrived at Frogs and Frights, where our friend Todd the Toad picked us up and helped us to take down enemies with his super spitting power!

Finally, we reached Sally's Swamp, a toxic swamp where Sally The Flower was waiting…

Luna’s Boss Diary: Sally The Flower

Hey adventurers, Luna here! As you journey through The Magical World with Niko and me, you’ll come across dangerous and devious Bosses! I’ve been making notes on every dastardly foe we see to help out our fellow adventurers.

Next up: Sally The Flower!
Sally The Flower
Sky Vines is one of the most picturesque realms we’ve encountered. Unfortunately for us, many enemies thought so too, and made it their home. As Niko confidently swung through the vines (not being too careful around the brambles…) we came across a small petalled friend who jumped into a pool of bubbling, green water—and transformed into a giant floral beast!

This toxic ooze was Sally’s Swamp, and Sally The Flower rose from the goo. A truly terrifying sight! Thankfully, we had our prehistoric pal Dino on our side to help fight off the fiendish flower’s projectiles and whipping vines.

Sally wasn’t alone in this fight. She had Krumms on her side, which Dino had to eat to stop them from self-destructing and exploding! Eventually, we tamed the tropical tyrant and managed to stop and smell the flowers along the way.

If you thought a flower couldn’t be scary—think again! Sally was no pansy.

Luna’s Diary: Step Into Skyward Falls!

First stop: Skyward Falls.
Skyward Falls
Niko and I might possess different skills and prerogatives (I want knowledge and Niko wants adventure), but our shared motive has, and always will be—finding treasure

Skyward Falls is a fantastic world to start our adventure off with. This tropical island is beautiful and has a dense jungle, ancient temples, secret coves, and cavernous caves. Niko didn’t seem to appreciate the natural beauty surrounding us. Typical!

When we landed on the island, our first job was to get our bearings after climbing down from the airship. Unfortunately, the first sight we saw was terrifying—remnants of past adventurers who met a spiky end! After leaving that not-so-pretty warning, we made our way through lethal puzzles, avoiding traps and pitfalls, until we reached the prize we’d been searching for—a shiny treasure chest!

No sooner had we lugged the thing out of its cave home did we run into Baron Grimbald and his Cobring army, who had destroyed our airship and proceeded to nab the chest! After a hasty (and almost explosive) getaway, our true adventure began. Time to reclaim the relic!

Sacred Forest was first up, a leafy jungle adorned with beautiful bioluminescent plants to guide our way, and complete with serene waterfalls. It wasn’t all peaceful, though. Some Cobrings tried to get in our way, but a quick Ground Pound saw to them.

Soon came the Tricky Caves. Tricky by name, tricky by nature! There were plenty of hazards down here, but the awesome Aztec-inspired architecture made up for all that (to me anyway, Niko wasn’t so convinced).

Then we hit the Owlspire Wheels, a winding path of rotating wheels designed to slow us down on our quest!

After clearing that cylindrical chaos, we dove into Jellyfish Cove. Whoever said it was better down where it’s wetter was sorely mistaken. Those stings hurt!

Finally, we came upon a dam, and had to face off against Darby The Beaver. Well, we all know how that ended!

Our first world was a whirlwind, but I’ve managed to piece together this diary from shredded and damp notes. Hope it helps!
