Unbroken The Awakening News

The final countdown...
So this is it.
The time is almost nigh. Unbroken will be going public in Early Access starting tomorrow, 20th Feb around 10:30 CET.

To get things warmed up, prepared a few things. A teaser of the roadmap. Full version dropping tomorrow with release announcement. For now here is the general layout with the first larger planned update.

Also got these 2 clips prepped. A handy combat basics, to help get in the groove, as well as a visual styles preview and how to adjust the graphics to your liking.

Please excuse the low quality of my commentary. I wanted to re-record a better quality version, but with the current amount of work related to the release, sadly didn't make the cut. I'll be aiming to do better next time. But hopefully the clip will still show how the basic visual options work.

So that's it for this one. See you tomorrow, when the Unbroken launches!

Cheers,

mike

Unbroken Early Access Demo is live!

Today will be a short one. As promised, Unbrokens Early Access demo went live.

Here's a quick preview of the first 10 minutes:

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Grab the demo here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2937000/Unbroken_Early_Access_Demo

Things worth noting:

The players Demo stats received a few buffs (meaning circa midgame stats: walljump unlocked, speed upgraded, jump height upgraded and hp upgraded) as well as certain weapons and resin unlocked from registered point of rest. In the full game, all these buffs, weapons, unlocks etc will have to be unlocked/purchased/discovered etc via progression.

After the war memory tutorial you are free to explore a small section of the main game around Nelsons Crossing.

Or, for more varied maps, use the carriage outside coltons rest to be teleported to a selection of action levels. These levels will be leaderboard based in the full game. So getting a full combo in style is going to count.

In case of any issues-bugs-impressions, let me know.

Hope you enjoy the Demo!

Cheers,

Mike

Unbroken Release confirmed! Dropping in Early Access in February.

Big News today!

Unbrokens Realease date and strategy is confirmed. You'll be able to start your journey to Crests Edge in Early Access on 18th February. Also the Early Access demo is expected to go live with its own separate steampage some time tomorrow.

What to expect Early access Release:

-Full game with 2 endings, achievements and multiple subplots/world-lore relations, with a large map and multiple routes to achieve your goal. You could compare Unbrokens current general state to the final months of Neckreaks Early Access. Meaning the game is generally complete and major focus is bug hunting and fixing, fixing incomplete areas, adding remaining subplots-logic-endings, balance etc.

What is still coming:

I'll be preparing a better roadmap but for now a quick breakdown would be:

-arcade mode with leaderboards (replay action focused levels).*
-more endings and subplots-lore relations
-3rd moon curse effects and events
-specific new endgame/lategame areas and lore logic
-more actions focused levels
-as with neckbreak, addressing issues/bugs/balance/polish/etc reported by the community
-more achievements
-new languages (currently its only looking to be English for the premiere)
-steam cards

*Still not decided on the unlock here: if from the get go with levels which the player completes, arcade mode as an unlockable or purchase at one a special store in a certain area in the game. Either way, preview of the arcade mode is in the demo: the carriage outside coltons rest)

Known issues which are to be addressed:

-lighting in certain maps. The game has a stark contrast by design, hence certain maps have limited visibility. However due to the size of the game, this might not go for all since some maps might still be too bright or to dark, along with the random ToD/weather system(which has its pros and cons). This will addressed on a daily basis along with reports, ie todays fix to the vondelkerk area where the directional light shadow is too strong and kill ground texture/material visibility.

-general smaller issues/bugs with maps. Like with Neckbreak: be that a hole in the floor/wall, a too empty area. Working with the community during Early Access should be the fastest and most efficient way to get these done. These issues, along with the aforementioned lighting, once reported and reproduced should get fixed very quickly.

-balance in combat. The game,as neckbreak is designed to challenging. However, the challenge is also supposed to be balanced out with the fun factor. As well as general more randomized combat engagements. The game is also designed to quite a vibe, however there are parts which might seem to empty. These are either known issues and planned to be finished/and or added secrets, or added some random encounter. Based on Early Access report it will be easier to address these based on most commonly/often reported areas.

-general polish. Game is solodev, so I'm doing the best I can with multiple fixes and tweaks being added daily, however due to this fact I'd kindly request to keep your expectations realistic. Neckbreak can be a reference to the general progress you can expect.

So that's it for this one.

Looking forward to seeing you on the Frontier!

Cheers,

Mike

Unbroken Steam NextFest Demo

Happy NextFest Everyone! Unbrokens demo is back for a limited time with an updated version. Multliple fixes from previous demo feedback, as well as lots of smaller tweaks and details to multiple levels.

Dev is coming along nicely. Currently focusing on polishing boss fights and general game/content cleanup/polish.

I also have a little bonus prepared in a few days for the NextFest Demo, so stay tuned.

And last but not least, for those using the Lossless Scaling app, I'm happy to say Unbroken works really well with it. Important to disable v-sync if using theframe generation option and recommended to run in window is using a upscaling method.

Feedback, as always, would be greatly appreciated. Hope you enjoy the demo!

Cheers,

Mike

Unbroken Devlog August 2024
Hello Everyone,
Unbroken development is coming along nicely. The whole game, features and mechanics are more or less complete, so now it is mainly of matter of polishing, refining, balancing and bughunting/fixing current content.

As it is, the game is already good enough to be released in Early Access, but with ongoing talks with potential publishers has caused a delay due to potential changes in release strategy. Either way, if no satisfying agreement is reached, Unbroken will be self published and going live the latest in December 2024.

The ongoing closed Beta is constantly being updated with a large update that dropped last week, with a whole lot of refinement to the majority of maps, as well as updated NPC questlines, bugifxes etc.

The next update will focus on refining larger enemy/miniboss/boss encounters.

Currently there is 1 achievable ending, however I'm aiming to add at least 2 more before the end of the year.

So in comparison with Neckbreaks (ex PDF) Early Access, Unbroken by the time of release should be in a similar state to the last 6-8 months of Neckbreaks Early Access.

An updated time-limited demo is expected to be dropping relatively soon (1-2 months) and feedback from this demo will be crucial for the final pre-release tweaks if going down the self-publishing route.

And in other news, I've been cooking a few things in the background in the meantime, so you can expect some news in this regard very soon.

Cheers,

Mike
