Community Crunch 469: Introducing Helicoprion from ARK: Additions!


We’re excited to welcome another fearsome and fabulous creature from Garuga123’s ARK: Additions into the world of ARK: Survival Ascended. These community-favorite creatures bring new ways to play, new threats to overcome, and, frankly, some of the coolest tames around.

Expect a little fine-tuning as the Helicoprion settles into its new home, but one thing’s certain: it's here to make a mark in the ocean’s depths!

There’s something lurking in the deep—and for once, it’s not looking for you.

Roughly the size of a Megalodon but far less aggressive, Helicoprion prefers the quiet vastness of open ocean, circling silently with its iconic, spiral-toothed grin. Survivors report they’re mostly unbothered… unless you’re an Ammonite. In that case? Good luck.

But there’s more to this prehistoric predator than brute force. That strange, whorled jaw has a curious utility that crafters may find indispensable…

Prepare your scuba gear, Helicoprion arrives for free in the base game on August 20th.

Moving day is near!

Official Ragnarok transfers will fully open on the 15th of August, allowing players to move items, creatures, and characters onto the map without restriction! Please pack your dodos in bubble-wrap.



Expire servers are temporary servers across the network that will eventually be removed, and you can find them by searching for "Expire" in the session filter.

These servers will be online until 10 am PST / 1 pm EST on September 1st. We're preemptively using our allocation for future maps to host some additional sessions that players can travel onto to farm, tame, and experience the newest content Gameplay. The same transfer restrictions apply in that you are only able to download your character, but you can freely take anything off. This is to help reduce load off some of the other servers, or provide players an option for those who just want to jump onto a new map temporarily.

Please note that these servers will no longer exist after 10 am PST / 1 pm EST on September 1st, so if you intend to use them, remember to transfer your items/creatures/characters off before that date, as nothing will be saved beyond that time period.



We’re currently working on an issue related to character transfers whilst a build template is active.

To help mitigate the impact, we’ve taken the following steps:
  • Disabled auto-decay timers for structures and creatures, etc
  • Prevented transfers if you have an active template
  • Actively working on a fix for characters that cannot be downloaded with high priority
We appreciate your patience and will share updates as we make progress on a resolution.

Community Crunch 468: LiveOps Update, Arkpocalypse, and more!


The sun’s setting on Summer Bash, and we’re waving goodbye to beachside brawls and firework-filled nights. Thanks for being part of the fun. With the event wrapped, today’s major version update brings a round of fixes and improvements to keep things running smoothly. We’re not quite ready to share what’s coming next, but the team’s busy behind the curtain working on what’s ahead!




We’ve just rolled out a major version update packed with a slew of fixes, so be sure to check out the full patch notes below. We're continuing to tackle reported issues, and we appreciate everyone who's been sharing feedback and bug reports to help us refine and improve the game.



General Bug Fixes
  • Fixed Ankylosaurus not auto harvesting when carried by Karkinos
  • Fixed an issue where clients were experiencing very low FPS when loading into a large base
  • Fixed dropped items going through structures
  • Reduced the frequency of wild flyers and water creatures wandering into the mesh (more to come)
  • Fixed not seeing building template in some cases
  • Fixed Oasisaur dropping bag on restart
  • "Clear POIS" map button, now clears dino tracking
  • Removed the "Disable companion mode" from the pop up hud UI for Companions
  • Fixed not being able to interact with structures that were in stasis sometimes
  • Fixed Companions not unburying sometimes in vacuum cubes
  • Fixed Trike charge destroying structures through walls
  • Fixed flyers continuously flying up if holding a tool

We also want to reiterate that the mod storage upgrade on PS5 remains a top priority. We’re still working through the implementation, which requires a custom solution specific to the platform. It’s taking longer than expected, but we’re committed to getting it done.

Community Crunch 467: Introducing Megaraptor!

[p]This week, we’re giving you a closer look at the terror soon to be stalking Valguero’s shadows: Megaraptor! Don’t expect pack tactics. This solitary slasher lives for the hunt, picking off prey with chilling precision and a glare that sends would-be rescuers fleeing. If it locks eyes on you, don’t expect a rescue. If it pounces, it’s already too late.

The Megaraptor will descend upon ARK: Survival Ascended for free with the launch of Valguero Ascended, created by the prolific Nekatus, later this year!

Common Name: Megaraptor
Species: Megaraptor sceleratus Time: Late Cretaceous
Diet: Carnivore
Temperament: Solitary Aggressive

Trust me, you don’t want one of these creepy killers hunting you. Megaraptor picks off its victims one at a time, like the villain in an old-school slasher flick. And once you’ve been targeted, your stalker will scare away your friends and allies with its unnerving glare.

You won’t see this monster coming until it’s right on top of you. That’s when Megaraptor pounces, pinning you down and scattering everyone nearby to leave you defenseless. Talk about a jump scare! The final indignity is that your death will give this beast the strength to shrug off any attempt to avenge you.

Before you can tame a Megaraptor, you’ll have to earn its respect. Find and claim its grisly altar of carcasses, then keep the enraged owner at bay with fire. Just make sure you stay on a constant swivel, because this fiend will fight like hell for its trophies.

Manage to break one of these butchers, and you’ll share all the meat from its many kills. You’ll also gain an assassin eager to isolate and murder your enemies. But know that Megaraptor hunts alone. Uncomfortable around even its own kind, this army of one will lose its fighting edge around others.

We’ve just pushed out a Steam client patch that should resolve most cases where player characters, structures, creatures, landscape, and other game objects would become invisible or flicker. This client fix is also actively going through certification on both consoles and we’ll be pushing it live as soon as it releases (hopefully over the weekend, fingers crossed!). This has been quite the technical maze, so we’ll be monitoring closely and making further tweaks if further cases of invisibility appear.

Basilosaurus spawn rates have also been slightly increased in today’s v68.34 patch, so you can go and grab your blubber. We’ll keep an eye on them and adjust further if needed.

And just as a note to Xbox Users, today’s client version increased your mod capacity by an additional 10 GB, to a max cap of 60 GB. Some users may find that they have a one-off redownload of all their mods as a consequence of this change.

We’ve got a major version update planned for next week that addresses a number of long-standing pain points. While not everything below is included in that release, we want to keep you in the loop on where things stand, especially for the most-reported issues:

Labyrinth - Spirit Bear & Wolf spawn issues
Astraeos OSD Build Radius Changes - Scheduled for next week’s major update.
Ankylosaurus and Doedicurus continuing to harvest while slot-capped, also when carried by a Karkinos.
Exploit fixes that specifically tie to PvP - the less we share on these the better, of course - wouldn’t want more folks actively taking advantage of them right now!
Frustrating issue where you could accidentally throw off your shoulder pet
 QOL: Add "quick select" structure feature while placing a structure (while placing a structure, can ping other structures to start placing them)
Drakeling will now correctly apply the loot crate bonus for unofficial servers that have higher than default loot quality
Speedy Harvester no longer incorrectly plays the activation sound (appreciate the video HillBillyWilly ;))

And we’re currently still working through the following reports, with the hope to bring into next week’s release or as soon as possible:

PlayStation Mod Storage Upgrade - We’re still working through the implementation for this specific upgrade at the moment, as it requires a very custom solution imposed by the platform, it’s taking a bit longer to complete but remains a top priority.

Community Crunch 466: LiveOps Updates, Mod Spotlight, and more!


From Sarco sandals in sports mode to heatwave haute couture, Survivors have been bringing the beachside chaos to ARK, and the party’s not over yet! Summer Bash is still in full swing until Thursday, July 17. It’s the perfect time to soak up the sun, fire off a few sparklers, and hunt those pesky Slidy 'N Slippery Kairuku.


The Lost Colony Expansion Pass is available now, Survivors! Alongside it comes a bundle of bonus content to kick off your journey—including the adorable new Veilwing companion, the versatile TEK Bunker, and the game-changing Template Hammer, which lets you save and replicate your base builds with ease.

The full ARK: Lost Colony experience arrives in December 2025, but for now, sink your teeth into an early taste of what’s to come.

A quick final reminder ahead of July 15th: We’re making a key adjustment to OSDs on Astraeos to address a bug. Starting July 15th, when an OSD lands, it will now destroy any nearby player-built structures within its impact radius. This will be the same radius used for OSDs on Extinction.

If you’ve built near potential OSD drop zones, we strongly recommend relocating your base before the patch goes live.




We’ve rolled out a potential fix for a bug that caused sudden FPS drops due to VRAM allocation issues. This update also reverts the temporary workaround introduced in v67 (June 20), which dynamically managed VRAM to reduce memory buildup.
We’ll be actively monitoring player reports to confirm if this resolves the issue—if not, we’ll continue working toward a more permanent solution.
