Emerging from the adrenaline of Aberration Ascended, we’re eager to announce the next thrilling chapter in the Ascended saga: Extinction Ascended, launching December 16th! Whether you’re a veteran or new player, Extinction is where the ARK story reaches its climactic battle for survival. Set in a ruined Earth overrun by titanic creatures, survivors must scavenge, build, and tame powerful allies to face the ultimate challenge – the colossal Titans. Get ready for the fight of your life in this vast post-apocalyptic world.

Also coming December 16th is the final installment of Bob’s Tall Tales: Wasteland War. This post-apocalyptic adventure is filled with high-octane, Titan-slaying, Tribe-celebrating madness! Explore the wastes using new modular-built battle-cars, or redecorate your base to be a ramshackle outpost. Clash with rival Tribes in a battle for dominance using new territorial-ownership structures, or search for lost Tek Traits to further upgrade your weapons with the help of your own goodest pup. This is the ultimate test of survival in the vast wastelands of Extinction!

Joining the fray is the latest community-voted creature, Dreadnoughtus, a true titan-killer. This massive beast lives up to its name, taking on only the biggest threats. With a platform saddle large enough to carry your artillery and the ability to spit acid-coated projectiles, the Dreadnoughtus will be your ultimate ally for taking on the Titans of Extinction.

A major version update is set to roll out next week, packed with key crash fixes, bug squashes, and several quality-of-life improvements. This update aims to resolve issues affecting gameplay stability, enhance performance across all platforms, and also includes a slew of content fixes. Thank you for your valuable reports, and we’ll continue to iterate on more so stay posted for more updates and fixes coming soon! 



We’re excited to announce an upcoming overhaul to the custom cosmetic system. Our goal is to make it more streamlined and intuitive, allowing for easier navigation and quicker access to your favorite items. This update will roll out in the near future, so keep an eye out for more details soon!



An AMD beta driver is now available that fixes the loading crash in Aberration. The official release is coming soon, but you can download the beta driver early from AMD using this link.

We’re excited to see so many of you exploring Aberration Ascended since launch! Whether you’re taming under the spell of the adorable Cosmo or taking on the dangerous Yi Ling, it’s been great to see players navigating the new map, content and creatures. So let's jump into updates on the latest live ops, Nekatus’ free version of Astraeos launching soon, a mod spotlight, and Arkpoc’s new mod list for this month! Whew!

Nekatus, the prolific creator of Fjordur and Svartalfheim, has a new mythological map offering in the works: Astraeos!

Immerse yourself in a Greek-inspired world spanning a massive ~264km², where majestic mountain ridges and marble-like cliffs give way to white beaches and a paradise of cherry blossoms in a full sakura biome. Explore ancient Greek ruins and temples, or sail vast oceans with custom Greek Trireme ships. Face off against powerful new bosses, alpha dino variants with enhanced loot, and a fearsome miniboss lurking in mysterious caves.

Prepare for mythological enemies hiding in the shadows while gearing up with custom cosmetic skins and standalone mods for structures and ships.

Astraeos’ free version will launch on October 10th, 2024, available day 1 for crossplay, with a premium version slated for later in the year!



This week, the Live Ops team focused on addressing various crash issues, and we’ve made solid progress in resolving many of them. We'll continue working on the remaining cases, including ongoing efforts to fix some straggler console crashes. We also resolved an impactful rendering issue on PlayStation. With these crashes and rendering issues being addressed, we’ll shift our attention toward a number of level fixes and general content and gameplay bugs in the coming weeks.

To highlight a couple of fixes in progress: Rock Drake gliding and Ascension issues. A Steam server version was deployed today with a fix for Rock Drake gliding, which is now live for all players. We’re also prioritizing a fix for the Ascension issue, which is expected to go out with a planned major version patch next week. Of course, this isn’t exhaustive. The pipeline is chock full of fixes that will soon be ready to go live!

Additionally, we’re collaborating with our engineering partners and AMD to resolve a crash occurring on newer drivers. AMD has reproduced the crash and is making good progress on a solution. In the meantime, some players have reported success in eliminating the GPU crash on Aberration by rolling back their drivers to the following patch: https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/release-notes/RN-RAD-WIN-23-7-1.html

Waking up on ‘Aberration’, a derelict, malfunctioning ARK with an elaborate underground biome system, survivors face exotic new challenges unlike anything before: extreme radioactive sunlight and environmental hazards, ziplines, wingsuits, climbing gear, cave dwellings, charge-batteries, and far more, along with a stable of extraordinary new creatures await within the mysterious depths. But beware the ‘Nameless’: unrelenting, Element-infused humanoids which have evolved into vicious light-hating monstrosities! On Aberration, survivors will uncover the ultimate secrets of the ARKs, and discover what the future holds in store for those strong and clever enough to survive!



Aberration places survivors on a damaged ARK: its internal atmosphere has leaked away, resulting in a harsh surface with intense radiation, and a plethora of lush biomes underground. With the maintenance systems of this ARK malfunctioning, the many hazards, creatures, and nature of the environment present a thrilling new world to explore and master.



Discover 15 new creature types with amazing abilities! Clamber up walls & glide through the air on a self-camouflaging ’Rock Drake’, keep the dark at bay with one of four friendly ‘Lantern Pets’, or grab and toss multiple creatures simultaneously with a massive ‘Cave Crustacean’, or -- if you are brave enough - allow the horrific "Reaper Queen" to impregnate you, and spawn a vicious male Reaper alien lifeform you can tame and control.

[h3]Where is Nvidia Framegen?[/h3]

We're currently in the process of making some implementation changes to Nvidia FG as tweaks were necessary after intregrating AMD Frame Interpolation. We opted for the AMD FI implementation with this release as it is supported on all hardware, including consoles. We're looking to restore Nvidia Frame Gen ASAP

[h3]Where is AMD FSR 3.1 Upscaler?[/h3]

In AMD FSR 3.1, AMD decoupled the Upscaler from the Frame Interpolation, this allowed us to implement the Frame Interpolation while we work on FSR. Technically you could enable it with some console commands, but there are some visual issues we need to resolve which is why we haven't completely enabled it in the game.

Survivors, the countdown is almost over! On September 4th, dive into the new Aberration Ascended for ARK: Survival Ascended and explore fresh challenges. For those with Bob's Tall Tales, the Steampunk Ascent expansion is ready to take you even further into the unknown.

• Launch Date: 4th of September
  
• Time: Later in the day US Schedule -- we'll have a more accurate timeframe on release day!
  
• Rates: We'll be increasing the rates for Aberration Official Servers to be equivalent to our 2x evolution events (so 1x servers get increased to 2x, and non-1x servers get a +2 increase on their rates), and this will run for the first two weeks of Aberration's launch
  

And a quick update on some of the different projects we've been working on:

AMD FidelityFX Frame Interpolation: This is working on all platforms, across all hardwares. So with the Aberration launch, players can expect to see an approximate 80% performance gain on consoles and PC (assuming they weren't already using frame generation).

Unreal Engine 5.4: The upgrade work is mostly complete. However, we're still putting it through our internal QA processes as there are a lot of changes that we need to make sure are stable before we can release this out to the wild. We're currently targeting sometime between October 15th and November 15th as the launch window for this update.
