ARK: Survival Ascended News

This week’s Crunch comes with a touch of the mystical! The Spirit Bear has stepped out of legend and onto the pages of its dossier, a reminder that the ARK’s mysteries run deeper than tooth and claw. And while we’re marveling at that ancient warden of the wilds, the countdown is on for next week’s big splash: the arrival of the Helicoprion, ready to make waves with its jaw-dropping debut.

This time it feels like I’m trying to describe a supernatural entity, instead of the usual living fossil. Crossing paths with Osto Silvanimus (commonly called Elderclaw) is like communing with a forest’s soul. As much flora as fauna, this ursine avatar seems attuned to local plant life.

Although Elderclaw rarely attacks unprovoked, it won’t shy away from a fight. It instinctively controls nearby vegetation to wrap itself in a thick tangle of protective vines, while sending out roots to entangle any aggressor... assuming it doesn't just knock them into a stupor with its massive paws.

A nettled Elderclaw will conjure up a Spirit Echo to help ward off threats. This ethereal talisman will then emanate vibrations that weaken threats while invigorating those in its protection. A Spirit Echo collects the energies of nearby violence and imbues its Elderclaw master with enough fury and power to trigger explosive growth.

While Spirit Echoes generally stay immaterial, they can also become tangible long enough to explode. The resulting cloud of charged spores will affect friend and foe differently, burning aggressors but closing wounds on allies.


While I've yet to see a tame adult Elderclaw, their cubs (or shrubs?) seem much more impressionable. Sadly, this has led Survivors to hunt and kill these lumbering giants for their seeds. Propagating your own is a long, difficult process, but once a sproutling has grown enough to leave its garden, you’ll gain a protective forest warden that can use its roots to sustainably harvest nearby trees.

Something ancient stirs deep within the lush forests of Valguero, an ancient power of oak and vine.

Meet the Elderclaw, a breathtaking new companion that’s less like an animal and more like the living soul of the wild. Draped in blossoms and adorned with protective vines, this mystical guardian blends the strength of an apex predator with the serenity of nature itself.

Though it’s not prone to anger, crossing the Elderclaw’s path with ill-intent can awaken its wrath, and the forest answers its call. Rumours speak of twisting roots, protective vines, and strange totems which turn the tide of battle, sapping the will of enemies while bolstering allies.

Taming one won’t be as simple as tossing a few berries its way. Survivors whisper about rare seedlings and cubs that must be nurtured to maturity, earning the trust of a being that embodies the land it roams. Those who succeed will find themselves gaining a steadfast warden capable of shielding its allies and drawing power straight from the earth.

The Elderclaw will arrive alongside Valguero Ascended and is included with the Lost Colony Expansion Pass, meaning all pass holders can set out to tame this supernatural forest guardian from day-one. It will also be offered as a stand-alone Fantastic Tame purchase at a later date.

Prepare yourselves, Survivors! The Elderclaw is coming, and with it, the forest breathes anew.


Your next adventure is almost here! Valguero Ascended will officially launch on September 30, bringing its vast landscapes, breathtaking biomes, the dangerous Deinonychus, and the mysterious new Elderclaw to ARK: Survival Ascended.

While we’d originally shared an August window, shifting priorities in our schedule meant Valguero needed an updated launch plan to ensure your journey through this map lives up to its full potential.

This free map also comes with something extra special: the Megaraptor, a community-voted creature ready to prowl its new home. Swift, cunning, and packing plenty of prehistoric bite, it’s sure to become a favourite among Survivors looking for both speed and style.

We’re excited to welcome another fearsome and fabulous creature from Garuga123’s ARK: Additions into the world of ARK: Survival Ascended. These community-favorite creatures bring new ways to play, new threats to overcome, and, frankly, some of the coolest tames around.

Expect a little fine-tuning as the Helicoprion settles into its new home, but one thing’s certain: it's here to make a mark in the ocean’s depths!

There’s something lurking in the deep—and for once, it’s not looking for you.

Roughly the size of a Megalodon but far less aggressive, Helicoprion prefers the quiet vastness of open ocean, circling silently with its iconic, spiral-toothed grin. Survivors report they’re mostly unbothered… unless you’re an Ammonite. In that case? Good luck.

But there’s more to this prehistoric predator than brute force. That strange, whorled jaw has a curious utility that crafters may find indispensable…

The sun’s setting on Summer Bash, and we’re waving goodbye to beachside brawls and firework-filled nights. Thanks for being part of the fun. With the event wrapped, today’s major version update brings a round of fixes and improvements to keep things running smoothly. We’re not quite ready to share what’s coming next, but the team’s busy behind the curtain working on what’s ahead!




We’ve just rolled out a major version update packed with a slew of fixes, so be sure to check out the full patch notes below. We're continuing to tackle reported issues, and we appreciate everyone who's been sharing feedback and bug reports to help us refine and improve the game.



General Bug Fixes

• Fixed Ankylosaurus not auto harvesting when carried by Karkinos
  
• Fixed an issue where clients were experiencing very low FPS when loading into a large base
  
• Fixed dropped items going through structures
  
• Reduced the frequency of wild flyers and water creatures wandering into the mesh (more to come)
  
• Fixed not seeing building template in some cases
