New Update Brings New Enemy and New Weapon



Hello Survival Typists,

We put a lot of work into a new mission/campaign system this week, but since XM is going on a well deserved vacation and the features were simply too new and buggy, we decided on a smaller, safer update this week. But that doesn't mean we'll leave you hanging with this update, which brings a sneaky new enemy and a new weapon from on high!

[h2]Stalker Enemy[/h2]

This sneaky enemy will only reveal one letter at a time, creating a very stressful situation! Let us know in the comments how you feel about this enemy.

[h2]Meteor Weapon[/h2]

We're removing the Firestorm weapon for some tweaking, so in its place we've added the meteor weapon, which selects a random area on the map and lets you rain literal hellfire on that area.

That's on top of all the other fixes and balancing we've done to the game over the past few weeks. Thanks again to everyone who has joined our discord and folks submitting feedback and bugs in our online form, we couldn't have done this without you!

- Fixed armor detection in explosions.
- Drones will properly prioritize targets now.
- Fixed "Freeze" and "Double Damage" text effects not showing up in non-english localizations.
- Fixed enemies spawning without hitboxes in late game.
- Made 2x Damage multiplicative instead of additive.
- Fixed Glass Cannon halving current health as well.
- Blocked Warlike from spawning if Frostbite has been picked previously.
- Fixed Sentry damage upgrades having the same name for Common, Uncommon and Rare variants.
- Fixed Refrigerant and Vulnerability loot items description not reflecting actual effect.

Balancing
---------
- Increased health for Shooters, Warder and Swarmer's children by 50%
- Removed Slashing and Rapidfire tags, having less tags create more synergy between weapons.
- Make Shooter projectiles give more warning, have a larger hitbox and more health. Making them more dangerous.
- Make Shield Drones have more shield than health.
- Added 3rd tier of Shield Drones that spawns in late game.
- Removed Firestorm temporarily for re-design.
- Removed 10-min difficulty ramp from "Relaxed" difficulty.

Features

- Added Stalker enemy that reveals word one letter at a time.
- Added Bleeding status effect. Inflicted by Chopper after upgrade and does Kinetic damage over time.
- Added Static status effect. Inflicted by Tesla Mines after upgrade. Does Energy damage over time and also damages nearby enemies.
- Added new weapon, Meteor. Spawns markers for orbital bombardment in random locations. When marker is activated, pelt area surrounding marker with explosions for several seconds.

Misc.

- New visuals for Warder, Spawner and Shooter projectiles.

Patch - v2024.05.03.001-ALPHA

- Fixed Minefield has infinite +1 amount upgrades.
- Fixed controllers not detected when hotplugging during play.
- Force fullscreen if on Steam Deck (if not screen will be cut off)
- Fixed changing contrast in options make controller selection jump to survey form button.
- Fixed Oscillator and Chopper not responding to completed words if words belong to enemies that are already destroyed.

New Wordlist and UI : Update v2024.05.03.001-ALPHA


Hello Survival Typists!

Thanks to your feedback, we are hard at work pushing out regular updates to the game, seeking to find the right balance before moving on to new features. A new UI gives you a clearer view of your current weapon set, and new word lists have been added for more variety and balancing.

A quick note on word lists! Glyphica's weapons are actually quite strategic in that they are triggered by the first letter of a word. This adds a lot more strategic choice making to the game, but does also mean that it's not super simple to simply download a wordlist and go hog wild without severly unbalancing the game. This also means it is a little more complex to add languages to the game, but we are definitely exploring different languages down the pipeline.

Keep those bug reports and feedback coming, and see you in the next update!

Bugfixes
- Fixed crash due to Spectre doing damage calculations when hitting Warder armor.
- Fixed late-game spawner malfunction and spawning very little enemies.
- Fixed words sometimes cut short.
- Fixed augments can't be purchased if coins equal the cost of augment.
- Fixed pickups spawning on screen edge, causing word to not be wholly visible.
- Fixed crash due to running out of upgrades.

Balancing
- Nerfed Spectre and Hunter damage.
- Balancing pass due to upgrade rarity and overall lowered upgrade stat increases.
- Lowered damage from enemies so you don't die in a few hits.
- Reduced Warder shielding range.
- Updated wordlist with a LOT more words.

Features
- Words now fade out when overlapping, showing only the word of enemy closest to player.
- Added upgrade rarity and variation in stat increase.
- Added weapon bar at bottom of screen to track current weapons and upgrade counts.
- Added health bar and health number at bottom of screen.
