With “The Battle for Sherman Hill, you’ll tackle the challenges of moving heavy freight throughout the decades, from the steam era to the railroading of today. In a scene of contemporary Union Pacific railroading on Sherman Hill, a trio of GE ES44ACs lead a westbound grain train while a single GE is working as a DPU on the rear of an eastbound coal train.

Big Boy! With the upcoming Train Simulator “Battle for Sherman Hill,” you’ll take the throttle of the world’s largest steam locomotive – Union Pacific’s Alco-built 4-8-8-4 “Big Boy -- and challenge the unforgiving 1.5 percent grades of Sherman Hill’s eastern slope. At Dale, Wyoming, east- and westbound freights with Big Boy power meet at speed. Note: Screenshots depict content while in development.

Powerful, elegant, and fast – that was Union Pacific’s 4-6-6-4 Challenger locomotives. In a scene recalling the 1950s, Union Pacific 4-6-6-4 3985, destined for a long and famous career, emerges from the east portal of Sherman Hill’s Hermosa Tunnel with a priority Pacific Fruit Express refrigerator train in tow.

Train Simulator’s upcoming “The Battle for Sherman Hill” will bring to life more than half-a-century of railroading across the Laramie Mountains, including a brief period in the late 1950s when Union Pacific super steam and gas-electric turbines served together. UP GTEL “Big Blow” No. 2 has overtaken a westbound manifest on the slopes of the Train Simulator Sherman Hill route.

Battle for Sherman Hill is coming soon to Train Simulator 2020.
