Patch #1 - Infection Mode & More

Greetings, Agents and Mannequins!

As promised during last week's Cross-Play Update, we have another patch ready with a host of new features. Headlining today's update is the addition of a new Infected Mode for custom games, a new Social Lobby, and more. Let's get into the main points.

We also have a key known issue for Steam Link and Virtual Desktop users to look at. Please see the bottom of this post for more information.

Infected Mode For Custom Games

Players jumping into a Custom Game can now experience Mannequin's brand new Infected Mode. If you've played Infected Mode in other games then you probably know what to expect; one player starts as an Agent while the others spawn as Mannequins. Mannequins have to pose, hide and survive for three minutes to win. You can still attack Agents, but tapping them now simply jams their gun and gives you a chance to escape.

Agents, meanwhile, convert Mannequins to their team by shooting them. If all players are converted to Agents, the Agents side wins! It's a great spin on a classic mode, with our trademark hide-and-seek gameplay giving it a breath of fresh air. Make sure to jump into a Custom Game to give it a go!

A New Social Lobby

One thing we’ve always wanted to do with Mannequin is provide a space where players can simply hang out without the intensity of the core game mode itself. With today’s update, we’re launching the Social Lobby, where up to 5 players can jump in, meet up, and simply hang out together, maybe jumping into a game if they want.

This doesn’t change the way you interact with Mannequin right now. You’ll still boot into a solo area, but then have the choice to head to these lobbies or start searching for a game straight away. We’ll be adding more to these lobbies – including exploring expanded player count – soon to make them a great place to hang out between games. Expect more details soon!

Push To Talk Toggle

Another often requested community feature, we’ve added the ability to press a button when players want to talk into the mic. This can be really helpful with elements like background noise that can be distracting in-game!

There’s a few extra note-worthy additions going into today’s update too. Take a look below.

All Platforms

  • Added Infected Mode as part of Custom Games
  • Added a Social Lobby
  • Added in-game voice announcer
  • Added push to talk option for voice chat
  • Added reloading to lobby area
  • Tutorial now has voice over

Known Issues + Workaround

There is an issue with players launching the game with Steam Link and Virtual Desktop. We are working on a fix. For now, in order to play using Steam Link or Virtual Desktop, delete the 'MetaXR' folder from SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Mannequin\Mannequin\Plugins

We'll have more updates with some exciting additions soon, so stay tuned.

Until next time, Pose and Oppose!

We can't wait to bring more players into the fold as we head towards our 1.0 release later this year.

We also have several other updates arriving today. A huge shout out to our community, which has been instrumental in shaping a lot of the content and direction that's gone into today's update. These include:

Finalised All Four Levels

Every existing level in the game has been finalised with additions to design, art assets, lighting, first responder placement and more.

Updated UI And Visuals

New icons, colours and VFX can be found across the game. Expect a lot of smaller improvements that add up to a much cleaner, smoother experience.

Progression Badges & Summaries

A new end of match Summary Screen has been added to track players' performance. You'll also now be awarded progression badges as you rise through the ranks.

Reporting Tool

A new in-game tool to report other players can keep your Mannequin sessions safe!

And, for those that want it, here's a deeper look into the changes coming to the PC and Quest builds today. If you see a *, that means this was a suggestion made by the community!

We've even added in progression badges to show off as you climb up the ranks! We’ll have more updates to the game to talk about soon.

Want to try the game out before picking it up? Then we have the perfect opportunity for you - we’re running a free trial weekend at release! Yup, from Thursday through to Sunday you’ll be able to play as much as you like at no cost. Then make sure to check out our 25% launch discount, which will be live for the first two weeks.
