Welcome to the Outskirts: Update 0.47 adds a new realm, weapon, essence & more!



Howdy Soulslingers!

New unexplored lands have just shown up in Limbo, and now Death needs your help, Soulslingers, to vanquish the Cartel lurking in the Outskirts! To help you on your way, you are given a new weapon, ‘Silver Defiler,’ and a new set of skills, 'Desolate Essence,' that might prove useful.

Welcome to the Outskirts!
With one part of Limbo relatively safe, Death sends Soulslinger deeper into Cartel territory to hunt another lieutenant. The landscape shifts even further into that of the Wild West, reflecting the Cartel’s leader’s solid hold on the area. These are the 'Outskirts' - the outer rim of Cartel territory, dominated by deadly gunslingers and monstrous wraiths.

Silver Defiler
A weapon with a curved projectile that creates a poisonous puddle on the ground upon impact, causing devastating AOE damage to all enemies in the area.

Desolate Essence
With the Desolate Essence, you can summon an allied golem that will rush to the closest target and aid you for a limited time. Or you can lower your dash cooldown so you can move around a lot quicker.

Revenant Sheriff and new enemies
A new challenge awaits you when venturing around in the Outskirts with five new types of enemies. You will also encounter the Revenant Sheriff, who might stop you in your tracks as you travel deeper into Limbo!

NEW FEATURES:
  • The first half of the new realm called 'Outskirts' has been added; you can reach this after defeating the Cursed King
  • Added 5 new enemies
  • Added a new boss: the 'Revenant Sheriff' can be defeated at the halfway point of the new 'Outskirts' realm
  • Added a new weapon: the ‘Silver Defiler’ schematics can be found upon entering the new 'Outskirts' realm
  • Added the 'Desolate Essence' and all its related abilities and perks. You can access these in the entire game after entering the "Outskirts" realm
  • Added 'Nia Blessings' to the game, these are special perks that you can access after beating the Cursed King
  • Added a new pre-rendered cinematic, giving a bit of insight into who Soulslinger used to be in real life
  • The Cursed King and the Countess can now be unlocked in the Bestiary (they are automatically unlocked if you've defeated them already)
  • You can now collect the black crystal resource from the Bestiary entries of the Cursed King and the Countess
  • Added the 'Impervious' and 'Punishment' upgrades to the Well of Tears


BALANCE:
  • Greatly increased the chance of finding a Healing Shrine
  • Projectiles fired by the Nightmare enemy deal 5 damage instead of 15 now
  • The Power Totem will now require Embers, Shards and Blueprints for some upgrades instead of Tears of Oblivion
  • Removed Insane Mode and the related achievement; a new game mode is coming soon instead
  • Extended the passive skill inventory so all collected abilities would fit


IMPROVED FEATURES:
  • The currently selected weapon is now marked in the inventory
  • Added the weapon perk tooltips to the weapon replacement screen as well
  • If you stand next to a spawning enemy, that enemy is now briefly disabled to avoid sudden unfair attacks
  • Picking up a new weapon no longer switches the order of weapon slots
  • You can now use the mouse wheel as well to switch weapons (in addition to the key configured in the options menu)


BUGFIXES:
  • Fixed a bug where footsteps could not be heard in Haven
  • Fixed a bug where the in-game health value would not match the one displayed in the Power Totem
  • Fixed a bug were falling down into a chasm would place you inside a wall
  • Fixed a bug where in the secret challenge arena, falling down into a chasm would just place you above the chasm again
  • Fixed a bug where a warp gate appeared to be too bright in the Pyrehelm arena
  • Fixed several bugs where it was possible to clip into Warp Gates in the Forgotten Graveyard
  • Fixed a bug where the Devourer enemy outline appeared only on his body instead of his full equipment, leading to glitches
  • Fixed a bug where aiming was not entirely precise when using ADS
  • Fixed the bug where 3D icons would not appear on the side of gates for certain rewards
  • Fixed a bug where invisible enemies were present in the first area of the Forgotten Graveyard
  • Fixed a bug where some weapon perk tooltips would not be displayed on the inventory screen
  • Fixed a bug where the Forgotten Graveyard portal sound effect would still play when quitting to the main menu

Next Early Access Update delayed till early July; what'll be included?



Heya Soulslingers!

A Soulslinger Early Access roadmap update was originally planned for June, but we've decided to postpone it until the beginning of July. For the amount of content that is coming with the update, we just need the extra time to be able to deliver it all at the usual quality.

We have adapted the Early Access Roadmap artwork on the product page accordingly.

But what is it exactly that you can expect from this upcoming update?

  • You will be able to enter the new realm called 'Outskirts' and make it to the next miniboss (equivalent to the King's Guard in the previous realm)
  • New enemies with brand new enemy types, different AI than before, some of them are smarter or behave very differently from what you've seen so far
  • A new voiced NPC with an important role, main cut-scene and lots of dialogue
  • Two new spell classes, one of them is a new essence, the other is tied to Nia, Soulslinger's love from real life
  • A new pre-rendered cinematic giving a bit of insight into who Soulslinger used to be in real life
  • A new weapon
  • The black crystal resource required at the Well of Tears, as well as the next two Well upgrades

You can also expect massive balance changes, eg. the projectile barrage in the Graveyard will be much more bearable and Healing Shrines will occur more frequently (among many other changes).

🔥 Update 0.452 makes you carry two Weapons, adds Weapon Drops in levels & more!



Happy Friday, Soulslingers!

As promised in yesterday's teaser post, we have released the update 0.452, introducing new ways to upgrade and handle weapons. You will now be able to use two weapons and easily swap between them with the (TAB) key even during a fight, and every weapon now has unique weapon-specific perks and levels, creating new ways for you to play the game!


We also made it easier to obtain the 'The Night Quartet' and, as a result, have added a new Relic that will be awarded by defeating the Countess.

With this update, we are also bringing a lot of quality-of-life changes and improvements to FOV, VFX, and much more that the community has put forward. We thank you for your support. Please let us know what you think about the new changes!

[h3]CHANGELOG FOR VERSION 0.452[/h3]

NEW FEATURES AND IMPROVEMENTS:
  • You can now carry up to 2 weapons
  • You can now find weapons out in the game world; their level, damage, and bonus stats are randomized
  • The Night Quartet weapon can now be found by just entering the Forgotten Graveyard
  • Introduced weapon-specific perks, randomly applied to gun pickups
  • Added a new relic that can be acquired when beating the Countess; this increases the levels of weapons you find
  • Unclouded Eye now reveals enemies instead of crates and barrels
  • The inventory screen now contains information about the owned weapons
  • The weapon FOV is now separated from the rest of the game, making guns appear larger and feel better during gameplay
  • Replaced the VFX of the poison shockwave
  • Replaced the VFX of the Vengeance homing projectile
  • Replaced the Flaming Bullet perk with a new bullet that triggers an explosion every time you hit burning enemies with another status effect
  • Scaled up the length of the 'Double-Barreled Fury' weapon
BALANCE:
  • Surrounding branches are no longer set on fire by enemy attacks; we've found this to be an unfair feature rather than an actually good gameplay element
  • Explosive barrels now only deal 20 damage to the player (they still deal 100 damage to enemies)
  • Removed the teleporting ability from basic Swarmers
  • The Power Totem now gives 8 health for each upgrade (instead of 2)
  • Balanced the amount of elemental Power Totem bonuses
BUGFIXES:
  • Fixed a bug where the camera would clip into Soulslinger's arms when landing
  • Fixed a bug where the blood rune instructions would stay on screen after winning a fight
  • Fixed a bug where Bullet of Vitality would not remain until the end of the battle when a Night Quartet was equipped
  • Fixed a bug where the essence selection screen could not be used with gamepad (works with the D-Pad now)
  • Fixed a bug where Vengeance homing projectiles would just hover in the air if there were no enemies left
  • Fixed a bug where jumping and falling sounds would play during the loading screen

🔥 New Update coming tomorrow, makes you carry up to two Weapons!



Greetings Soulslingers!

We are busy working on new Early Access contents for Soulslinger, the third Early Access update will land next month. BUT of course we also read the feedback that you share with us, and there is a lot of really interesting stuff.

And that's why - SURPRISE! - there will be a new quality of life/user feedback update tomorrow that will bring Soulslinger to version 0.452 - and to the next level! I'll share the complete changelog with you tomorrow, but I'd like to tease some of it already. Because I can't wait to share the cool new fetures and improvements with you!



With the update you will be able to carry not just one, but two (!) weapons from tomorrow! You will equip one weapon before the round as usual, but you will find more weapons out in the game world, their level, damage and bonus stats are randomized. The inventory screen will then contain information about the owned weapons (damage, bonus stats, perks, etc.).



There will be more improvements, fixes and balancing tweaks, but we'll save those for the release of the update tomorrow.

This underrated Weird West roguelite shooter just got a big update

There are lots of things to like about the "Weird West" setting for a shooter - it has such a distinctive look, and somehow the ghosts and Lovecraftian horrors feel right at home in the early 1900s. The main thing, though, is that the guns are cool. This is something that Soulslinger Envoy of Death understands very well, and fans who've already jumped into early access have a big new update to check out today.
