🤠 Soulslinger Development Limbo Update February 2024



Greetings, Soulslingers!

This is Ede again - right of the depth of the develolpment limbo! 🤠

So, now that our two latest updates added ’Gunplay 2.0’ as well as a bunch of improvements, bugfixes and ADS balancing, it is time to share some more information about upcoming content that will be added to the game in the coming months.

But let's talk about the BESTIARY first! It was added with the last update and is located in Haven. It allows you to check out the enemies of every realm and collect permanent resources upon defeating a new enemy type! This building will be available by default and will provide a boost to your resources early on:



With the second Early Access Roadmap Update in March, we will introduce even more Haven extensions. These are additional buildings that will either be available from the start or ones that you can construct to unlock additional gameplay features:

POWER TOTEM
The Power Totem offers stat upgrades to Soulslinger. As long as you keep farming resources, you can keep upgrading because the Power Totem never runs out of new upgrades!

ORB OF THE SEER
The Orb of the Seer allows you to keep track of your most important stats, such as accuracy rating, furthest segment reached, etc, etc.

In addition to the Haven extensions, we also plan to add the new Blood Essence that introduces new skills focusing on healing and vampirism!

BUT THERE’S MORE!
Excited to find out what other new content is coming for Soulslinger? Here’s a first look at a new realm we plan to introduce soon! This is NOT the second major realm, but an exciting alternate route you can take while traversing the currently available Land of Memories!

🔥 Soulslinger Update 0.425 adds a Bestiary, Improvements, Fixes and more!



Greetings, Soulslingers!

We have just released a new update for Soulslinger: Envoy of Death. It adds a Bestiary to Haven that allows you to collect a one-time bounty for each new enemy type you encounter and defeat. The update also changes the balancing of aiming down sights, adds camera animations for movement and landing, new videos and cinematics, and much more.



This is the complete changelog for update 0.425:

New features and improvements:
  • Added the Bestiary to Haven, allows you to collect a one-time bounty for each new enemy type you encounter and defeat
  • Added a new pre-rendered cinematic "memory" that teases a bit more of the upcoming story
  • Added a new gate travel loading screen to when the secret arena is visited
  • Added a new "Boss Defeated" video for when a boss has been beaten and the player returns to Haven
  • Aiming down sights is now much more accurate
  • Added camera animations for movement and landing
Balance:
  • Increased shotgun efficiency
  • Reduced the cost of several craftable items
  • Increased coin pickup radius by 75%
  • Increased poison damage bonus gained by the Powerful Toxin perk from 40% to 50%
  • Reduced the Cursed King's health by 10%
  • Raised shotgun ADS location so it is clear where it is aiming
Bugfixes:
  • Fixed several instances of damage texts missing or appearing in the wrong place
  • Fixed a bug where in the cave arena, enemies could get stuck in a wall next to one of the stairs
  • Fixed a bug where the King's Guard could be cheesed from a ledge above the arena
  • Fixed a bug where you could see under the map in the courtyard arena
  • Fixed a bug where the poison effect would be left behind when an enemy died
  • Fixed a bug where the Cursed King's targeting circle could be left behind when he powered up at 50% health
  • Fixed a bug where the reload bar stayed on the screen if Soulslinger was killed during reloading
  • Fixed a bug where the blue shield bar would stay on screen during a cut-scene
  • Fixed a bug where the "Hold [button] to skip" prompt would not appear during the intro cut-scene

🔥 Soulslinger Roadmap Update 0.422 adds "Gunplay 2.0" and more!

Ede here, straight from the forge of Soulslinger: Envoy of Death, bringing you some good news: As announced in last weeks update posting, it's about time for the very first Early Access Roadmap update and for you to get your hands on the improved and enhanced "Gunplay 2.0"!

Update 0.422 adds overhauled recoil animations including recoil in ADS, "flying numbers" that appear when dealing damage to enemies, more noticeable impact visual effects and audio cues, improved enemy AI, balance changes, and many more:

This is the complete changelog for update 0.422:

New features and improvements:
  • Added a new battle arena to the Land of Memories
  • Added 36 new conversations for Dead Eye McGee
  • Added "flying numbers" to be able to track damage dealt
  • Improved weapon movement and physics
  • Improved revolver recoil animations
  • Improved movement and jumping physics of Soulslinger
  • There is proper recoil during ADS now
  • Added impact VFX and audio when enemies get hit
  • Fire and electric dashes have been replaced with brand new, more useful shockwave abilities
  • Improved enemy reaction animations to getting hit
  • Improved enemy AI, enemies no longer get stuck on level geometry
  • The dash screen VFX has been replaced with a more prominent animated effect
  • Gamepad buttons will now be displayed instead of keyboard prompts if a gamepad is used
Balance:
  • ADS has a much smaller movement speed penalty
  • Reduced player dash distance a bit
  • Vastly reduced the health of Cartel Brutes
  • His own explosive bullets no longer hurt Soulslinger
  • Electric bullets are stronger, also affect explosive barrels and bonus crates now
  • Increased melee damage
  • Gloaming Strike provides a greater bonus to melee damage
Bugfixes:
  • Fixed numerous gamepad-related bugs
  • Polished existing maps for smoother navigation
  • Fixed a bug where the Cursed King would not be visible while leaving during his first introduction
  • Fixed a bug in the cave arena where enemies would get stuck next to the stairs
  • Fixed a bug where the pirate's double damage bullet would not appear in the inventory
  • Fixed a bug where in the temple yard arena, enemies could spawn or teleport above the ceiling
  • Fixed a bug in the "hanged skeleton" arena where Spectral Shardstones could spawn outside the playable area
  • Fixed a bug where part of the animated sky was not visible
  • Fixed a rare bug where some enemies would just automatically get killed
  • Fixed a bug where enemies would hop up stairs instead of walking
  • Eliminated several cases of enemies unnecessarily jumping
  • Fixed backslashes before each apostrophe in the French language
  • You can now close the difficulty selection window in Haven without making a choice
  • Fixed a camera bug in Dead Eye McGee's introduction cut-scene

🔥 "Gunplay 2.0" will be unleashed in Soulslinger really soon!

I am thrilled to announce and share some more information about the upcoming "Gunplay 2.0" update, introducing several changes to how your guns will act and much, much more!

First and foremost, the Land of Memories is getting bigger as the update will introduce a brand-new map/battle arena designed to challenge your skills and provide a fresh, immersive environment.

The recoil animations for revolvers undergo a significant overhaul. We will add a realistic animation and have removed any procedural (i.e. programmed) animations. Each shot will feel more powerful, and recoil animations work in ADS as well now!

We understand the importance of precise feedback during combat, which is why we’ll be adding dynamic "flying numbers" that appear when dealing damage. So, after the update is released, you will be able to track your attacks in real-time, as well as the damage done by special effects such as fire, electricity, or poison damage.



Based on your feedback, we are also going to add more noticeable impact visual effects and audio cues that accompany every strike on enemies, making each successful hit feel truly powerful!

Additionally, we will improve the enemy AI, add numerous gamepad-related improvements, balance changes, new conversations with "Dead Eye" McGee and we’ve even worked on new spells!

💥 Soulslinger: Envoy of Death Early Access Roadmap expanded!



Greetings, fellow Soulslingers!

Since the release of Soulslinger in mid-December, I've been working my way through an incredibly large and also incredibly valuable amount of feedback that all you players out there have given me.

Firstly, I am really super grateful for this (❤️), and secondly, it has prompted me to extend the Early Access Roadmap for Soulslinger. That's what's new:

  • A new first update in January will add "Gunplay 2.0" to the game
  • The second update in March was extended by building extensions in Haven
  • A new third update in April will add a new realm
  • A new fifth update in July will add a dual skills system

I will also be going into more detail about some of the upcoming expansions in separate update posts here on Steam in the near future - for example the "Gunplay 2.0" at the end of this week.
