We just wrapped up an intense 3-day marathon at BitSummit in Japan, and it was nothing short of legendary! We hooked up a Steam Deck to a monitor and put Cyber Paradise to the ultimate test.

For three epic days, from 10 AM to 5 PM, our booth was swarmed with enthusiastic gamers! The Steam Deck held up like a champ, powering through continuous gameplay without breaking a sweat.

[h2]More Atmospheric, Tighter Storytelling, and Escalating Combats[/h2]

After showcasing at multiple festivals and extensive playtesting over the past year, the demo has undergone some major revamps. The original 3-hour demo is now condensed into a 20-30-minute experience of heartfelt stories, escalating battles, and an atmospheric cyberpunk setting, allowing players to quickly grasp the essence of the game. For those craving more lore, the old demo remains hidden in a secret area within the game.



[h2]New Biomes, New Music and Retro Cultural Fusion[/h2]

In addition to the original azure harbour biome, the updated version introduces new environments inspired by the devs' hometowns, featuring classic Hong Kong architecture, colonial British buildings, and nostalgic Taiwanese street food. Imagine a sprawling urban landscape with hovering drones, a steampunk industrial atmosphere, the distant clatter of construction machinery, and shadowy, neon-lit alleys. The murmurs of distant crowds enhance the ambience, all set to new music with a moody, atmospheric vibe and subtle electronic beats, creating a striking contrast between the vibrant city life and the cyberpunk setting's gritty undertones.

The team is now collaborating with the notable US pixel artist Blueeyes Norton, who has contributed several pieces of concept art and a new cover for the game. His unique art style inspired the new demo's visuals, which have been carefully adapted to incorporate his distinctive artistic influence.

Funny Yet Heartfelt Narrative Weaved with Roguelite Mechanics

DDmeow Games, announces the release of the "Cyber Paradise Demo" on January 19th. This neon-drenched 2D action roguelite revolves around the digital revival of Mini the Dog. Players will engage in frenetic combats on a quest to uncover Mini's memories, and in between battles, they have the chance to bond with Mini's friends in the cozy setting of Mini's Café.



Upon collecting enough of Mini's memories, players can digitally revive the dog. Additionally, players can also craft items from Mini's favorite memories. For instance, if players uncover a memory of Mini sniffing a dog's butt, they can recreate a dog butt in Mini's Cyber Paradise where Mini will happily sniff it and show contentment.

The narrative unfolds in two primary areas: within Mini's memories, players delve into the backstories of various characters and past mysteries of this dystopian world from the dog's unique perspective; and in Mini's Café, where each visit strengthens relationships with these characters through funny yet heartfelt dialogues.



All You Can Pet/Eat/Etc with an Epic Crossover of 5 Games
In celebrating the return of Mini the Dog, this demo includes a special collaboration with 5 games. This crossover will happen at the end of the "Cyber Paradise" demo, giving players a chance to pet/eat/interact with all the animals and food from the participating games' worlds as part of the festivities. A list of participating games is at the bottom of this press release.

Well Received at Early Demo Stage
The alpha demo has already received multiple awards and one nomination, such as Best Game Direction and more.

The narration has been described as "heartfelt and funny" and the mechanics as "ridiculously fun" by media and playtesters.

Releasing As An Open Alpha Demo for Wider Community Testing

Since its debut in September last year, the closed-alpha demo of 'Cyber Paradise' has been rigorously playtested and streamed, with the count exceeding over 100 sessions. This iterative process has resulted in over 100 new, improved versions of the game. Sze, the developer, emphasizes, 'These weren't just minor bug fixes. The game has undergone several fundamental changes. Each playthrough brought fresh insights, significantly propelling the game's evolution.'

"This journey has been a collaborative effort, greatly supported by fellow game developers, streamers, and playtesters. We're now thrilled to present the open-alpha demo, inviting a wider audience to experience and actively contribute to the ongoing development of 'Cyber Paradise'. The game will undergo further changes for sure, and the team is excited to see where this large-scale playtest will lead the game."
