Imagine a shield, not of steel or stone, but of an invisible aura that keeps the chaos of wild magic at bay. These Sigils are carefully crafted, either engraved in stones or carved into bits of wood, becoming a powerful tool when in the hands of a skilled magician.
You see, magicians possess the unique ability to draw raw magic out of the gems and channel it into Sigils. These protective Sigils then continuously release magic, creating a
steady aura that acts as a barrier.Their primary role is to ‘muffle’ the unruly waves of magic around them, establishing a zone of calm amidst the tempest. However, let’s be clear: a weak Sigil can be overwhelmed and so,
crushed by the monumental force of wild magic.Now, what's truly remarkable is the effect these Sigils have on living creatures!
Tainted plants—those corrupted by wild magic—
wither and turn to dust within the Sigil’s range. Animals, even those deeply affected, seem to
shy away instinctively, repelled by the aura’s consistent waves.The same goes for humans and beasts tangled up with wild magic. Though they may want to approach, the closer they get, the stronger the Sigil pushes them back. The nearer they get, the more they're repelled by the ordered, rhythmic pulses of magic emanating from the Sigil.
This is why the protective Sigils are quite a common sight in the big cities. They provide a safe haven amid the chaos. Of course,
our wagon is also protected by such Sigil, as we traverse the untamed lands.
However, over time, the power of the Sigil begins to wane. Like a candle slowly burning out, its strength diminishes, which is why we need to plan our stops carefully.
Recharging it in the cities has become a necessary routine for us. The journey demands that we be prepared, ensuring our Sigil is always ready to shield us from the wild magic that awaits beyond the city gates.
