Endurance Month highlights the tenacity and focus of one of the most unique racing formats in motorsport history with new endurance races, a debut car, and one of the most iconic endurance racing tracks in the world, Sebring International Raceway.

Suit up and drive like a member of the Porsche 2024 endurance racing team with the 2024 Porsche #5 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 and a custom Porsche Racing Suit. In celebration of one of the biggest events on the racing calendar, we’re making the Porsche 963 Combo completely FREE for all Forza Motorsport players during its first week of availability. Today’s update also brings improvements to endurance mainstay tracks Laguna Seca and Nürburgring Nordschleife.

We've also added new suits to the Driver customization menu. The Rainbow suit will be available to everyone who plays Forza Motorsport in June. Meanwhile, a new Bridgestone suit can be earned by participating in the upcoming Bridgestone Rivals event.



Update 9 rolls out for download starting Monday, June 10 at 10:00 AM PT / 5:00 PM UTC on Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Microsoft Store and Steam. Spotlight cars and new in-game events begin on Wednesday, June 12 at 5:00 PM PT (12:00 AM UTC on Thursday, June 13).

[h2]Game Improvements and Release Notes[/h2]

In addition to its new endurance-themed content, this update introduces some minor fixes to Forza Motorsport. The list of changes in this version is lighter compared to previous releases as we work towards additional improvements to release during the summer.



In the meantime, we wanted to let you know that we are looking into an issue where shift times can be slightly different based on your monitor refresh rate and PC framerate. The community has provided useful data to help us investigate this problem, and we expect to have it resolved in an upcoming release. In the future, PC players will also receive an option to disable TAA and an updated VRAM estimator. Stay tuned for details on when these updates roll out into the game.

Also, we continue to investigate a bug where many existing and shared livery designs inadvertently appear with matte decals following the addition of the Vinyl Material feature in the previous update. Work on this fix remains ongoing and we will let you know once it’s ready to be released.

We’ve adjusted Practice lengths across all Featured Multiplayer Series to increase event cadence and frequency. This change results in shorter practice lengths.

1988 Lamborghini Countach LP5000 QV: Fixed an issue with visible clipping in cockpit view with FOV set to 65.

1963 Shelby Monaco King Cobra: Fixed an issue where brake calipers are misplaced and not visible from outside the car. Secondly, an issue where wheel lug nuts/fasteners were missing from this car has also been resolved.

Fixed an issue where the thumbnail for the Forza P3 car division is missing from the Free Play Advanced Event Setup menu.

Fixed an issue where glass reflections were showing pink on Maple Valley and Mid-Ohio.

We’ve updated the existing Mobil 1 decal in the Livery Editor and have added 3 new decal variants.

[h2]Get Your Free Porsche 963 Combo[/h2]

Battle your rivals in the endurance race-winning 2024 Porsche #5 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 and show off the factory stripes on the track by wearing the Porsche Racing Suit.



In celebration of the big race, claim the Porsche 963 Combo for Forza Motorsport at no cost from the Microsoft Store and Steam between June 10, 2024 (10am PDT) to June 19, 2024 (4:59PM PDT).

After the free redemption period, the Porsche 963 Combo will be available to buy for USD $4.99 / GBP £3.99 / EUR €4.99 / CNY ¥19.00. Once purchased, the car is added to your garage, with no additional in-game credit cost required. The Porsche Racing Suit can be found in the Driver customization menu.



The Porsche 963 Combo is not included with the Forza Motorsport Car Pass, Standard, Deluxe or Premium Editions.

[h2]Sebring Returns to Motorsport[/h2]

Sebring International Raceway, one of the oldest operating racetracks in the United States, returns to Forza Motorsport to test players with rough, bumpy, and changing surfaces. All throughout Endurance Month (and thereafter), drivers are invited to master its challenging track layouts – the 3.74-mile Full Circuit and 2-mile Short Circuit!



Located in Sebring, Florida, the track first opened in 1950 on a former World War II airfield. It is renowned for its rich motorsport heritage and most famous for hosting the 12 Hours of Sebring, considered one leg of the unofficial “Triple Crown of Endurance Racing.”

Sebring is known to be a terror for even the toughest drivers and is characterized by how its uneven surface combines asphalt and old concrete runways, resulting in a demanding environment for drivers and their vehicles.

[h2]Laguna Seca and Nordschleife Updates[/h2]

Alongside Sebring, we've made changes to two existing tracks in response to your feedback.

The pitlane exit at Laguna Seca has been updated to match its authentic location in the real world and we have fixed corrupt ambient occlusion on some track areas.



In addition, we have adjusted the curbing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife for 2024 accuracy, removed some of the flags across the track and added speaker poles throughout.

To accommodate these changes, leaderboards for Laguna Seca – Full Circuit, Nürburgring Nordschleife and Nürburgring Nordschleife – Full Circuit have been reset.

[h2]Push Your Stamina in the Endurance Tour [/h2]

Endurance racing has long been the crucible in which cutting-edge technology is tested and legends are made. The Endurance Tour will push your speed, strategy, and stamina to the limit across its four Showcase Series. Each series is broken down into two car classes on the Featured Tour menu, each with its own Spotlight car and 45-minute race to complete.



Experience the speed and precision of modern race cars and discover how they have become technological marvels in Pinnacle Endurance. This series features Forza GT racers including the 2017 Porsche #92 Porsche GT Team 911 RSR battling it out at Sebring – Full Circuit and Forza P1 hypercars like the 2017 Porsche #2 Porsche Team 919 Hybrid racing at Silverstone – GP Circuit.



Reminisce the 80s and 90s of American sports car racing in Retro Endurance when big marketing budgets fueled variety and innovation. Start with iconic GTX Sportscars such as the 1991 Mazda #62 Mazda Motorsport RX-7 at Watkins Glen – Full Circuit and switch it up with GTP/C racers and lead a legendary endurance competitor like the 1992 Toyota #99 All American Racers Toyota Eagle Mk III to the finish at Road America – Full Circuit.



Explore some of the highly competitive options available to privateer teams and experience the turnkey racecars they use in Global Endurance. These include Touring Cars at Brands Hatch – GP Circuit like the 2018 Audi #1 Audi Sport RS 3 LMS and Forza P2 racecars such as the 2014 Mazda #70 SpeedSource Lola B12/80, which is primed to leave its mark at Kyalami – GP Circuit.



Celebrate sports car design legend Carroll Shelby in Classic Endurance with the cars produced by Shelby American in the early 1960s. These include classic racers like the iconic 1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, which you can race alongside other Vintage Le Mans Sportscars at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, as well as the 1963 Shelby Monaco King Cobra – ready to battle the field of Vintage Le Mans Prototypes at Daytona – Sports Car Circuit.



Complete all series in the Endurance Tour to get the 1988 Nissan #24 Nissan Motorsports International R88C and leave your mark in the Reward Showcase.



Series within the Endurance Tour do not have to be completed in a particular week – you have until July 24, 2024, to finish this latest Featured Tour. Spotlight cars are available at a discount for the week during which they are featured.

[h2]Spotlight Cars and VIP Discounts[/h2]

Spotlight cars are featured in the Showroom every week, available for you to acquire with a temporary 30% discount using in-game credits. Update 9 will showcase eight Spotlight cars – two each week.



These Spotlight cars can be used in the Endurance Tour, as well as Spotlight Series events in Featured Multiplayer and Spotlight Rivals.



Forza Motorsport VIP Members also get an exclusive 15% month-long discount in the Showroom on the 2023 Cadillac #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac Racing V-Series.R.

[h2]Enter the Open Class Tour[/h2]

With each update to Forza Motorsport, the Open Class Tour gets refreshed with new events and a new reward car. Check it out under the Featured tab in Career mode.



Open Class Tour is where you can continue the journey of your favorite cars. Cars you’ve already upgraded in a different Builders Cup series can be further levelled up in the Open Class Tour.

In Update 9, the Drivatar AI opponents will be behind the wheel of multiple generations of street cars that build into GT racecars. The performance class lineup includes B, A, S and R.



Complete the Open Class Tour before July 10, 2024, and receive the 1970 Chevron B16. Enter the Reward Showcase to battle other cars in its division.

[h2]Compete in the Endurance Series[/h2]

The Endurance Series in Featured Multiplayer ratchets up the strategy and focus of the most competitive drivers for up to 1 hour per race. With a different division each week, these races will require a renewed focus on strategies around pitting, tire compounds, and fuel levels.



Celebrate the big race in Week 1 of the Endurance Series and challenge drivers at Le Mans in ultra-competitive Forza Proto-H racecars. Take on GTX Sportscars in Week 2. Master Forza Touring Cars in Week 3. And finally, leave your battle marks in classic Vintage Le Mans Prototypes in Week 4.

We’re also permanently adding 30-minute-long races to the event rotation within both the Forza Touring Car and Forza GT Series. Going forward, the length of these evergreen Spec Series will cycle between ‘Short,’ ‘Medium’ and the new ‘Long’ races.



Throughout Endurance Month, we’ll be looking at tire wear scaling, pitting, ensuring lobbies are filled and active, and making sure everything is balanced as we intend it to be.

Once you’re properly equipped with the Porsche 963 Combo, be sure to hone your skills at Le Mans by participating in the Porsche 963 Celebration event.



VIP Members – scavenge your prey in the Hatchback Hunt event featuring the 2019 Hyundai Veloster N Forza Edition at Silverstone National Circuit.

Later in the month, look out for a special event courtesy of Bridgestone. Set your fastest lap at Hakone GP Circuit in the 2020 Lamborghini Huracán STO to receive the Bridgestone Driver Suit.

We hope you have fun racing over the next four weeks. Fight fatigue, stay focused, and outthink the rest of the grid! Plus remember to take plenty of breaks, as they will be essential in between those extended stretches out on the track.

It has been exciting to see your response to updates like the inclusion of Nürburgring Nordschleife, the Aston Martin Valkyrie, GT3 cars like the 2019 McLaren #03 720S GT3 and changes to the Car Progression system. We will continue to do updates each month that track against our plan for the game, but we also balance that with shifts in priorities that come up from the community.

A case in point is the Car Progression system. We heard loud and clear that many players preferred the ability to upgrade cars how they wanted when they wanted, and we unlocked all parts at level 1 and enabled exchange of credits to car points to facilitate your builds in the garage.

This was a change that we had not planned for but recognized was a huge priority based on your feedback. Feedback that continues to be invaluable.



A few weeks ago, we published our Suggestions and Troubleshooting Hubs update. To date, we’ve seen over 470,000 votes counted across the series. From car voting, which has led to the inclusion of 50 new racing models released in Motorsport, to Features voting around topics like FOV positioning and Car Progression, to Troubleshooting which has allowed us to deploy hotfixes to resolve your issues as quickly as possible. We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone in the community for sharing your passion with us and knowing that while we don’t reply to everything, we are reading all of it!

So, what’s coming in the next few months? In addition to adding more tracks and specific features like Spectate Mode, Endurance Races, Car Proximity Radar, Forza GT car division changes, and Logitech TrueForce support to name just a few, we’re improving the overall experience of Multiplayer with some significant changes:

[h2]Safety Rating & Matchmaking[/h2]

Motorsport thrives on competition, and we’re making changes in our latest update to improve your experience by more accurately assessing a driver’s safety rating and updating our matchmaking algorithm to match players who are closer together in safety rating. These changes will help ensure that if you are a clean racer you will match with drivers who are going to give you the cleanest racing experience.



First, beginning with this week’s update we have introduced tweaks to how Safety Rating is calculated by increasing the number of previous races that we use to determine your Safety Rating from 10 to 20. This will put a greater emphasis on your longer-term racing trends. A safe racer with one bad race out of 20 will see little impact on their Safety Rating. A player with a low SR with one clean race out of 20 will see little impact on their rating. This also means that it will take longer for players to raise their SR.

In addition to the shift to longer-term racing trends, there will be increased weighting placed on collisions to determine your SR. Players with many FRR penalties will see their SR drop faster than before.

After the first race in Update 8 some players' Ratings may shift due to the change from 10 to 20 races in the SR calculation.

For Matchmaking, we updated the search algorithm to search for a narrower range of safety ratings compared to your own. For example, players with an ‘S’ safety rating should no longer match players with ‘E’ and ‘D’ safety ratings.



To put it simply, we’re making these changes to match fast, safe drivers with other fast, safe drivers and improve the multiplayer experience for those who want to compete fairly.

We are aware that introducing these changes into the current Forza Race Regulations (FRR) environment may create concern, and we are looking at a number of changes to Forza Race Regulations in the near term to mitigate those concerns, but we are introducing the safety rating & matchmaking changes in isolation to measure them effectively and avoid unnecessary spikes in false positives before introducing new variables to FRR.

We’re also aware of the clever exploits that players are using to combat intentional ramming, and working on a solution of our own that we hope to implement in the coming months.

[h2]Forza Race Regulations[/h2]

Near term for FRR, we are implementing changes to how the system handles fault assignments across several situations. Our next two priorities are rear-ended players incorrectly being assigned penalties and penalizing players who repeatedly cause low velocity side swipe offenses.



Next priorities include looking at things like players being penalized for low relative velocity impacts that should be forgiven, seemingly small track cuts that result in penalties that are too large, nearly identical off-track incidents resulting in different penalty times, and players being penalized for unavoidable contact.

As we said above, it is important to the stability of the game that we introduce and test these changes incrementally to limit the number of false positives we see in each update while still making progress on improving the model.

[h2]AI [/h2]

Recently we made small adjustments to the Drivatar AI to correct race start behaviors and provide a smoother experience into turn 1.

The latest update will reduce unnecessary braking by AI overall. This includes cases while the AI attempts to pass, 2 cars wide in corners, at the apex of corners, and on straights.



Future updates will tweak additional areas to support better AI behaviors related to slowing down after being passed by the player, when the player is alongside AI cars, and passing improvements in multi-class and endurance races. That’s right, we’ll also be bringing multi-class and endurance races to Motorsport soon!

[h2]Game Improvements and Release Notes[/h2]

Today’s update introduces new fixes and experience improvements to Forza Motorsport, including tweaks to how Safety Ratings are calculated in Featured Multiplayer, a gloss-matte slider in the Livery Editor, a new Tire Wear scale option for Free Play and Private Multiplayer, and changes to Drivatar AI braking behavior.



Below is a snapshot of the fixes and gameplay changes contained in Update 8. Head on over to Forza Support to find the full release notes for this version:

• Firstly, we’ve introduced a Vinyl Material tool to the Livery Editor which can be used to uniformly adjust all vinyl materials on a car from matte (non-reflective) to glossy (reflective). This includes a reset option to revert all vinyls to match car paint glossiness. Imported designs from Forza Horizon 5 using its similar feature will automatically inherit these values.
  
• We’ve added a Tire Wear Scale option to Free Play and Private Multiplayer, allowing adjustments to the rate at which tires are worn. 1x is the default value. At 2x, tire wear will occur twice as fast. Values range from .5x to 10x. This setting is found in the Event Setup Rules tab and in the Fuel & Tire menu when on track.
  
• We've updated Safety Ratings in Featured Multiplayer by increasing the number of previous races the Safety Rating uses to determine your rating from 10 to 20, and by making on-track collisions more impactful to Safety Rating. These changes will take effect after your first race in Update 8.
  
• In addition, we’ve improved the matchmaking algorithm to search for a narrower range of Safety Ratings compared to your own. For example, players with an 'S' Safety Rating should no longer be matched with players who have 'E' and 'D' Safety Ratings. Groups will be connected to matches based on the player with the lowest Safety Rating.
  
• We’ve removed the 2020 KTM X-Bow GT2 and the 2020 Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 from the Forza GT Series and added them to the Modern Factory Racecar Series in Featured Multiplayer. Meanwhile, the 2019 Porsche #70 Porsche Motorsport 935 has been added to the Forza GT Series. We’re currently working on recategorizing Forza GT racecars into separate spec divisions and expect to push these changes into the game this summer.
  
• Finally, we’ve reduced unnecessary braking scenarios for Drivatar AI opponents. Examples of this include braking while attempting to pass, two cars wide in corners, at the apex of corners, and on straights.

[h2]Mobil Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Forza Motorsport[/h2]

In celebration of its 50-year anniversary, we’re excited to reveal a partnership with Mobil 1, which will include a series of exciting in-game Rivals events starting this summer.



To kickstart this special collaboration, Maple Valley has been updated to “Mobil 1 Presents Maple Valley” with new track signage featuring Mobil 1 branding. Check it out the next time you are racing through the sweeping turns and beautiful, fictional woods of New England.



Numerous fixes and improvements have been made to Maple Valley and Mid-Ohio in Update 8. Check out the release notes for the full overview of these adjustments.

[h2]Career Tour – Track Toys Tour[/h2]

The Track Toys Tour invites you to experience high-performance cars that you could see hot lapping on the racetrack.



Compete in a single-make race series with Ginetta Juniors. This affordable entry point into motorsport for enthusiasts will see you behind the wheel of the nimble yet extraordinary 2019 Ginetta G40 Junior. Despite only 100 horsepower, the lightweight G40 has emerged as the most successful junior racing car on the circuit!



Weekend Warriors sees you racing cars like the exceptional 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS which could be taken to the track on a Sunday before being driven to work the following day. Whether it is on the road or the racetrack, this Cayman GTS tackles every twist and turn at high-speed without issue!



Appreciate the unforgettable shape and undeniable performance of the iconic Caterham R500 in Kit Caterhams. This driving machine must be skillfully handled. Despite its light chassis, the R500 catapults from 0 to 60 in just 2.9 seconds thanks to its 267 horses!



And finally, enjoy a celebration of purpose-built track cars like the aerodynamic 2019 Elemental RP1 in Track Toys. This lightweight car delivers a thrilling 320 horsepower from its 2-liter turbocharged engine! Not only does its massive low-pressure diffuser look truly incredible, but its aerodynamic capabilities create a truly staggering amount of downforce, ensuring you always have full control of the RP1 on the track.



Complete all 4 series in the Track Toys Tour to receive the ultimate racing warrior, the 2019 Porsche #70 Porsche Motorsport 935. This car’s exterior details are inspired by Porsche’s racing legacy, including rims and aerodynamics that pay homage to the 935/78 racecar –nicknamed the Moby Dick – as well as 919 Hybrid LMP1-inspired LED taillights. Enter the Reward Showcase with the 935 to take on a field of hypercars built for the track.

Enter the Open Class Tour with your favorite cars across D, C, B, and A Classes and take on opponents racing inexpensive and highly modifiable production cars that you would expect to see at your local track on the weekend.



Complete the Open Class Tour in Update 8 to receive the 2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupé. Its incredible blend of performance, handling and practicality makes it the perfect choice for those seeking an exhilarating driving experience, especially in the Reward Showcase where you can race with other cars in its class.

With Forza Motorsport Update 8, the Open Class Tour in Career mode has been migrated from the Builders Cup tab to the Featured tab. The Open Class Tour will be found in the Featured tab going forward.

[h2]Featured Multiplayer – Spec and Open Series[/h2]

As mentioned in the release notes, with Update 8, Featured Multiplayer introduces tweaks to how Safety Ratings are calculated, an updated matchmaking algorithm and small car changes to the Forza GT Series with more updates to this division planned for summer.

Set your fastest lap times across exciting new Rivals events in Forza Motorsport Update 8.



Compete for the leaderboard in this month’s Featured Spec Rivals event! Choose your favorite Forza Touring Car and challenge your skills and precision to achieve your fastest lap at Viriginia International Raceway – Full Circuit. Cars have been pre-tuned for optimal competition but can be further adjusted to suit your playstyle.

Later in the month, we’re opening a special Rivals event where you can experience the ultimate track car developed to pay tribute to a world-famous driver – the McLaren Senna – at the same track where he achieved several victories, Silverstone – Grand Prix Circuit. The Senna is one of the lightest and most driver-focused cars McLaren has ever built, with uncompromised performance and aerodynamics that unleash their true capabilities on the racetrack.
