Kiyo Playtest Update & End Date

Hey guys!

We have 2 important news regarding the playtest!

Firstly, the build has just been updated. The game has had a couple of performance fixes and small adjustments to the gameplay. The biggest things can be broken into two categories:
  • The first one is an option for making your own keybindings on a keyboard; we’ve received a lot of feedback on how players wanted to adapt the controls to their liking, so it was one of the biggest things that needed to be done; remapping the bindings on controllers is possible as well, but it would need to be done via the Steam Input system.
  • Plenty of Linux-oriented stuff has been added to the respective build of the game; this means that the game should run on more distros, including the older ones.

Secondly, the playtest has a finishing date set and it will end on the 15th of March. We've got plenty of feedback, but we count on you to provide more. Especially considering that you like the game, which makes us extremely happy! After the playtest, we’ll take some time polishing the game up and preparing a proper demo release, which shouldn’t be far in the future. Wait for a proper announcement on this one!

Thanks for reading and for playing, have a good one!

Kiyo is a part of Metroidvania Fusion!

Join The Resistance, fight evil bunnies!

We’re happy to announce that Kiyo is a part of the Metroidvania Fusion event on Steam!

We got chosen to represent a cool niche in a genre that’s known for putting emphasis on many different areas of gaming, such as puzzle solving, combat or exploration. Kiyo’s all about stealth and it presents a more linear approach to the story. While our game isn’t a metroidvania in its purest form, we reckon it could be considered to be one. We really hope that you’ll like the game. Trying it out is free, as it’s undergoing a playtest.

If you wanna try something a bit different, give it a shot! If you like it, feel free to wishlist it and tell your friends about it!

Kiyo's public playtest starts TODAY at 5 PM GMT!

The Resistance’s search has brought results. You, human, will take control over the body of Kiyo - an anthropomorphic lynx, ex-predator. Your ultimate goal: to destroy the evil BunnyCorp and restore the natural state of things. But for now, let’s start with small steps.

The test build will become the demo build over time. We need your help and feedback to make it as good as it gets. In the current version of the game, you’ll get to know how the story begins, will pass a tutorial section and will be able to take on a first mini-level. Aside from this, you’ll have plenty of venues to explore. The purpose of the playtest is to iron out all the bugs that are about to be found.

Join our Discord server to share your feedback and have a good time! 🙂

The playtest of Kiyo features:
  • Tutorial level and first mini-level
  • Most of the main gameplay mechanics are introduced: sneaking, archery, ninja rope, and cat vision. What are they? See for yourself!
  • Two city neighbourhoods which you’ll be able to explore freely
  • Working metro system
  • Various indoor locations
  • The beginning of the adventure is revealed
  • Xbox controller recommended

Thank you all so much in advance for giving Kiyo a shot and seeing if you like the game. It’s a massive undertaking for our small team and we hope that you’ll realise Kiyo is something special. Cheers!

  • In case of input loss, switching to the menu and back to the game should solve it
  • It requires a decent video card, and if it doesn't run smoothly there's a LowSpec option in the Video page of the menu.
  • If playing on a laptop, please make sure the discrete GPU is selected by default for OpenGL programs (easy instructions for Nvidia)
