The Night Shift 1.0 is Here!

[p]Hey all,[/p][p]It’s finally time. The Night Shift has officially left Early Access and hit version 1.0. This project has been a long road, with engine changes, total rebuilds and plenty of rough patches along the way. But we made it. I'm incredibly excited (and honestly a little nervous) to be releasing the full version of the game today.[/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][p]Thanks to everyone who played during Early Access, gave feedback or just followed along quietly. Your support has helped shape this game in ways I couldn’t have done alone.[/p][p]So, what’s new in the full release?[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Shifts
[p]Version 1.0 adds four brand new shifts, bringing the total to 14 playable shifts. These new shifts take you to previously unexplored areas of the store, introduce fresh tasks and, since this is the full release, yes... there’s an ending. Actually, seven of them.[/p][p]The ending you get depends entirely on the choices you make during your final shift. I wanted to make sure there were different ways to conclude your story, not just one path.[/p][p]Each playthrough consists of 11 shifts, which means no two runs are exactly the same. To keep things dynamic, useful items like flashlight batteries and painkillers now spawn in random locations. Their availability also adapts based on how many you’re already carrying. Low on supplies? You’ll find more. Stocked up? You’ll have to dig a little deeper.[/p][p]In addition to the new content, I’ve gone back through all previously released shifts and made updates across the board. Some shifts got minor tweaks, others had more substantial improvements. You’ll find quality of life upgrades throughout.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
UI Overhaul
[p]The menus, HUD, inventory and task list have all received attention in 1.0. Everything now scales properly across different screen resolutions, and the interface has been polished to be more consistent and easier to navigate. These changes may not be flashy, but they go a long way in making the game smoother to play.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Save System
[p]Due to the scope of changes in this update, existing saves from Early Access won’t carry over to version 1.0. I know that’s a bit of a pain, but the save system has been rebuilt for stability and future compatibility. Loading times are faster now, and saving/loading in general is far more reliable.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Performance
[p]This has been a big focus. Up until now, The Night Shift didn’t perform as well as I wanted across different systems. I’ve spent a lot of time optimizing just about everything, and performance should now be noticeably better across the board.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
And More...
[p]There are a bunch of other small improvements, bug fixes and behind-the-scenes changes that went into this update. From sound tweaks to collision fixes, polish passes and visual cleanups, 1.0 brings everything together in the most complete version of the game so far.[/p][p][/p][p]Thanks again for being part of the journey. Whether you’ve been here since the first public build back in 2023 or you’re just discovering the game now, I appreciate you.[/p][p][/p][p]As always, report any bugs or issues on the Steam Discussion board, the Discord, or the website.[/p][p]Continue reading below, for all the changes, additions, and fixes![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Changelog

Additions/Changes
One Week to 1.0

[p]Hey everyone,[/p][p]We’re just one week away from The Night Shift leaving Early Access and fully launching on Steam. [/p][p]Get ready for August 7th![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]I’m equal parts excited and nervous, but mostly just grateful. This all started as a uni assignment, and since November 2023 I’ve been building it out solo, learning Unreal, solving problems as they came up, and doing everything I could to make something worth playing.[/p][p]The 1.0 release is the full experience. It includes the ending, new experiences, and a ton of improvements based on your feedback. The lighting feels more grounded, the pacing is tighter, the audio hits better, and the whole thing plays with more intention. Read what you can expect in 1.0, here.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]If you’ve already played during Early Access, thank you. Every bug report, suggestion, and kind word has helped get the game to this point. I couldn’t have done this without you.[/p][p]If you’ve been waiting for the full version, now’s the time to wishlist it, or tell a friend who might be into weird, atmospheric, story-driven horror. Every bit of support this week makes a real difference.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Also, if you’re thinking about picking it up, this is the best time to do it. During Early Access, the game includes the Supporter Pack at no extra cost. After launch, that content will become a separate paid DLC.[/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]This is the final stretch.[/p][p][/p][p]One more week, then it’s out in the world.[/p][p]Martyn[/p]

What's New in 1.0 - Coming August 7th 2025

[p]Hey everyone,[/p][p]I hope you're all well! As we get closer to the full release of The Night Shift, I want to share a little of what you can expect on the 7th August.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
New Shifts
[p]There are four brand new shifts to experience in 1.0. Three of these can be encountered in a single playthrough, bringing the total number of shifts in the full game to 14. A standard run will now take you through 11 of them, with plenty of variety between playthroughs.[/p][p]The new shifts introduce fresh tasks, new items to interact with and previously inaccessible areas of the store. Up until now, you’ve only seen parts of the building, these final shifts will take you deeper into the store than ever before, with more mannequins, more movement and more tension.[/p][p]On top of that, there are now seven different endings to uncover, depending on the choices you make during your final shift.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Performance and Stability Improvements
[p]One of the biggest focuses for the 1.0 update was improving performance across the board. During Early Access, The Night Shift struggled to run smoothly even on high-end systems, and that feedback came through loud and clear.[/p][p]For 1.0, I spent a lot of time profiling and optimizing nearly every part of the game. Load times are faster, gameplay is smoother, and performance is more consistent across all shifts. Several areas that were prone to crashing, almost guaranteed in some cases, have been fixed and all known crash points have been addressed.[/p][p]With all of these improvements, The Night Shift is the most stable and performant it’s ever been.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Updated Visuals and Atmosphere
[p]Nearly every part of The Night Shift has seen some kind of visual upgrade for 1.0. From small polish passes to full reworks, the goal was to make the game feel more cohesive, more atmospheric and more unsettling from the very beginning.[/p][p]The storefront has been updated, along with the outside world, other key areas accessible on your shifts, and a number of props and items throughout the game. Lighting has been rebalanced, and the storm outside now progresses naturally across your shifts, adding a growing sense of unease as things unfold.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Audio and UX Enhancements
[p]A lot of small details have been added in 1.0 to make The Night Shift feel more responsive and immersive. New sound effects have been layered into props, interactions and various systems throughout the store, helping everything feel just a little more tactile (and unsettling).[/p][p]The UI has also been given a refresh. Fonts have been cleaned up, menus are easier to navigate, and the HUD layout has been adjusted for better readability. The reticule is slightly larger now too, making interactions a bit more comfortable, especially on a controller.[/p][p]For content creators, there's now a Streamer Mode available that disables the radio in the office to avoid any copyright concerns. Just toggle it on in the settings before you start your shift.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
New Achievements
[p]For players who love going the extra mile, 1.0 adds 10 brand new achievements to unlock. Whether you’re chasing secrets, mastering shifts or exploring new content, there’s plenty to aim for.[/p][p]If you have the Supporter Pack, you’ll get access to one additional exclusive achievement, adding a little extra challenge and bragging rights.[/p][p][/p]
And More...
[p]Over 50 bugs have been fixed in the 1.0 update, ranging from minor visual issues to more serious problems like crashes and progression blockers. Several previously released shifts were also reviewed and updated to clarify objectives, smooth out interactions and reduce confusion in key areas. And much more...[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The Night Shift exits Early Access on August 7th, so 1.0 is just around the corner. Don't forget, if you pick up the game before then, you’ll get access to the Supporter Pack for free as a thank-you for supporting it during Early Access.[/p][p]Whether you’re coming back to finish your shift or stepping into the store for the first time, I hope you enjoy the full experience.[/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]If you haven’t already, consider wishlisting or following The Night Shift on Steam, it really helps the game reach more players and keeps you updated on the launch.[/p][p]Thanks for being part of the journey.[/p][p][/p][p]Chat very soon,[/p][p]Marty[/p]
