We are truly humbled to see so many of you play the demo for our upcoming squeak-quel, Tails of Iron 2, during Steam Next Fest. Your ongoing enthusiasm and support mean the absolute world to us.
[h2]Your Feedback Matters![/h2]
The Steam Next Fest was a great opportunity for us to hear your honest thoughts and feedback on our upcoming action-RPG, especially considering the new gameplay mechanics we’ve added, largely based on community responses to the original game. On the whole, we’re delighted to see an overwhelmingly positive reaction, with just one element - the weapon sharpening mechanic - seeming to need a little tweaking based on popular consensus. Having taken on board all of your feedback, we’re pleased to confirm that the whetstone sharpening will receive the following adjustments ahead of the full game’s launch later this year:
- Whetstones will now act more like weapon buffs; when used, they will increase the weapon's damage output for a limited time, similar to the poison mechanic in the original Tails of Iron.
- Weapons will no longer dull, resulting in bounce back and the inability to hit enemies. This has been entirely removed.
- Managing the ‘health’ of the whetstone is no longer a requirement.
- Whetstones are now purchasable at the shop and can also be found in the world and as an enemy drop.
We strongly believe these changes significantly improve the weapon sharpening mechanic, providing further accessibility and flexibility in gameplay. We’re truly grateful for your feedback, which has again proven invaluable as we continue to refine the game. And with that in mind…

Originally, the Tails of Iron 2 demo was only supposed to be live for the duration of Steam Next Fest. However, due to the overwhelming response and to provide more of you with a chance to play, we’re excited to announce the demo period has been extended! This gives you more time to explore, battle, and experience the opening of Arlo’s epic saga of revenge against the devastating Dark Wings.

Whiskers of Winter’s ‘tail’ of Arlo’s fight against the ferocious Dark Wing Bats is an intense experience, featuring a semi-open RPG world set across six varied biomes to explore, and new animal factions to discover. - Challenging combat
Building upon the series’ trademark hardcore combat, Tails of Iron 2 features enhanced weapons gameplay, including four elemental effects (fire, ice, electricity, and poison) to imbue Arlo’s arsenal with unique abilities to use against foes. - Giant Monster Hunting Side Quests
To tip the balance against the new fanged army of Dark Wing Bats, Arlo can track down and overcome 15 gigantic and challenging beasts to harvest their cadavers for rare upgrade materials. - Improved base building
Construct and upgrade the devastated settlement of Winter’s Edge to gain access to more powerful items from the smithy, tastier meals at the kitchen, a wider range of powerful traps from the shoppe, and more! - Day and night system
Arlo will face different foes depending on the time of day, with more enemy types added as additional monsters are hunted down and vanquished.
