Pizza Bandit Dev Log #2

Hey Bandits, Let’s Talk About Food & Firepower!


We’ve been hard at work refining what makes Pizza Bandit unique — chaotic cooking missions, satisfying combat, and a lot of personality. After showcasing our sushi mission at PAX West, G-STAR, and Taiwan Game Show, it became clear: Cooking is core to the fun. So we’re leaning in all the way.

[h2]🍣 Cooking Missions & Restaurant Upgrades[/h2]
[h3]Sushi Mission — Crowd Favorite[/h3]
We’ve experimented with different mission types, and the cooking-centric ones hit differently. They bring out the humor, chaos, and team coordination better than anything else. Here's a quick look at our sushi mission.



[h2]Restaurant Customization — More Than Just a Lobby[/h2]
We always wanted the Pizza Bandit restaurant to feel alive. We tested a bunch of ideas, but the one that stuck? Decorating, customizing, and upgrading your pizzeria — and making pizzas that’ll help your team.

Now, it feels like a natural part of the story:
• Customize and upgrade your shop layout 🍽️
• Unlock kitchen gear and decor
• Your restaurant level will give you certain benefits in the mission

[h2]Making Pizza in your Lobby[/h2]
We’ve completely reworked how pizza-making functions outside of missions:
  • Loot ingredients (toppings) from missions — you'll need them to craft pizzas
  • Make your custom pizza in the lobby kitchen
  • Pull the pizza from the oven and place it on the table to share with your friends
  • Toppings dictate the type of buff you’ll receive
  • Buffs apply right from the lobby and remain active until you get knocked down during a mission

And here’s the twist — during missions, when you successfully perform cooking actions, you’ll earn Cooking Points. Rack up enough points and you’ll unlock new pizza recipes that come with stronger and more specialized buffs.


[h2]🔫 Weapon Mods & Loadout Expansion[/h2]
[h3]Weapon Modification System Overhaul[/h3]
We’ve moved beyond basic stat boosts. Every weapon in Pizza Bandit now comes with modification categories, and within each, you’ll choose from 2–3 unique upgrades to tailor your build. This lets you make meaningful decisions and allows your gear to match your playstyle—whether focused on firepower, utility, or survival.

[h3]Weapon Ascension (WIP)[/h3]
We’re exploring a new system called Weapon Ascension. The idea is to give your favorite gear a second life, transforming a fully upgraded weapon into something even more powerful, possibly with unique effects or behavior. It’s still in development, but we’ll share more once the system is ready for feedback. 👀


That’s it for now — but we’re not done yet. Dev Log #3 will dive into cosmetics, monsters (old and new), and a few chaotic missions you haven’t seen before.

Pizza Bandit Dev Log #1

[h3]👋 Hey Bandits![/h3]

It’s been a minute — but we’re back! Starting now, we’ll be posting more frequent dev logs (for real this time) to share our progress, talk through features we’re working on, and show off what’s coming next.
We want Pizza Bandit to be something we build with our community, not just for it — so if you’ve got ideas, feedback, or just want to hang with us during development, come join our Discord. We’re always listening.
[h2]⚙️ Quality of Life Updates[/h2]
We’ve made a bunch of small but mighty improvements based directly on your feedback. Here’s what’s new:
[h3]🥊 Quick Melee (with Smart Swap)[/h3]
You asked for a fast melee option while holding a gun — something quick and crunchy.
  • We added a quick melee button (default: V). Personally, I like binding it to the scroll wheel press.
  • Then came the issue: “How do I get back to my gun quickly?”
  • The answer: just right-click, and boom — you’re right back to your the weapon you were holding.

[h3]📦 Seamless Object & Combat Switching[/h3]
You carry a lot in this game — pizzas, relics, and… fish? Switching back to combat was kind of clunky before.
Now:
  • Right-click while holding an object to instantly drop it and go back to your last gun you were holding. (video stills shows it going back to primary weapon, but in the final version it'll be previous gun you were holding before picking up an object)
  • Same logic as melee. Super fast, super clean.

[h3]🎮 Controller & Steam Deck Support[/h3]
  • Controller support is getting better every week, though not perfect just yet.
  • PS controller support is on the way before Early Access.
  • Steam Deck? Yep — it runs! You’ll want to tweak settings for smooth performance, but it’s 100% playable.

[h2]💡Upgrade to Unreal Engine 5 [/h2]
We’ve made the leap to Unreal Engine 5!
That means:
  • Better lighting ☀️
  • Improved environmental effects 🌫️
  • Overall visual polish ✨

We’re still working on optimization and aim to get UE5 running as smoothly as UE4 did, if not better. Although this isn't the final version, here is an example of improvement you can expect.
