THREADS OF FATE UPDATE IS HERE! Be My Horde 0.7 available now!

Long time no see, right? We bet you thought we ran off with your money and abandoned the project. Absolutely not!

In fact, we've been working hard these past few weeks to improve and polish (hehe) the Be My Horde gameplay before adding extra content. We still want to deliver new levels, enemies, and boss fights! But first, we really wanted to refine HOW you play Be My Horde. Based on your feedback—and once again, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your reviews and opinions—we’ve made a few gameplay changes that make the game... well, less monotonous!



Today, we're excited to release this new update - Threads of Fate! Be My Horde version 0.7 is now live! Below, you'll find detailed patch notes highlighting both gameplay and graphic changes. Plus, we’re announcing a brand-new contest for FANART! Interested? Let’s dive in!

[h2]WE HAVE PERKS[/h2]

Threads of Fate introduces a new feature—PERKS. Now, during your run, after collecting a certain number of souls, you’ll be given the choice of three perks that can grant Moriana new abilities, expand her army, or enhance her necromancy powers.



This system replaces the Scrolls of Fate mechanic. Yes, no more unlocking and picking up Scrolls in the Dominion before your run. The reason for this change is simple—we wanted to make Be My Horde more dynamic and exciting right from the start. Many of you noted in your comments and reviews that the early moments of a run could feel dull, especially if it’s already your tenth run. The gameplay is now far more engaging—perhaps a little more random since you can’t fully customize your build before each run—but definitely more intriguing and unpredictable in the best way possible. It also lowers the entry barrier for new players while still offering a challenge to veterans with the beloved higher levels of Hard Mode.

Perks aren’t just Scrolls in a different form. This new system allowed us to implement many fresh abilities and skills that, when used strategically, can turn the tide of battle! You’ll unlock new perks via a special structure in the Dominion.

Now, speaking of the Dominion, don’t worry—these changes don’t mean we’ve scrapped it. Moriana’s lair still plays an important role. We’ve kept certain structures that provide permanent upgrades, such as increasing the size of your starting army, boosting Moriana’s health points, or enhancing her movement speed. We’ve even added a few new ones, like a structure that allows our necromancess to revive once during a run, giving you one more chance after failing.



Another structure lets you choose the type of necromancy you’d like to wield. There are three options to choose from.

💀 Instant Resurrection, the basic one you're already familiar with, lets you smash the button to quickly resurrect fallen enemies.

💀 Powerful Necromancy is slower but allows you to hold the button to expand the resurrection range, raising a massive group of minions in one blow.

💀 Automatic Resurrection is also known to some players. In this feature, Moriana revives enemies on her own, with the resurrection speed depending on the level of the Abomination (the bloody tree in the Dominion).



And you can also unlock the power of re-rolling the drawn perks in the Dominion, so your base is still a vital element of your crusade.
We’ve even added a new building animation. How do you like it?



[h2]We should leave one important note here: this update introduces very significant changes to the gameplay and progression system, as you can see. To fully experience the new changes, we recommend starting the game on a new save.[/h2]

[h2]MORIANA, MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN EVER[/h2]

We’ve spent a lot of time improving the visuals. Just like with the design, we wanted to avoid monotony in the art. So, our artists focused on variety.



We now have more diverse corpse textures, and the weather effects have been greatly enhanced, allowing for more detailed and atmospheric shadows. We’ve also improved Moriana’s walking animation, and yes, we even made her smile from time to time!



The biggest upgrade, though, is that we’ve added animations to all the minions! Your Peasants and Warriors are now far less stiff... which is unusual for zombies, but who’s complaining?



Of course, these are just the highlights. The full Patch Notes are below.

💀 New gameplay mechanic - Perks; when leveling up, choose 1 out of 3 possible gameplay-enhancing abilities. The strongest ones are hidden behind a time wall of 15 minutes and a selected combination of perks, so be sure to experiment;
💀 New Dominion buildings - enhance perk selection with buildings that increase available perks, grant rerolls, and free perks;
💀 New gameplay mechanic - self revive, if unlocked, on taking lethal damage rise again and continue spreading havoc;
💀 Removed Scrolls of Fate - scrolls of fate are now gone, but in their place, a new system rises. Select what necromancy will be used in the future run.

Balance tweaks:
💀 Reduced movement speed granted by Movement speed Dominion building;
💀 Reduced healing done by corrupting wheat crops;
💀 Changed many prices of buildings in the Dominion;
💀 Some buildings in the Dominion are now locked behind other buildings, not only the Abomination (the bloody tree).

Art:
💀 Added animations for units;
💀 Added new animations for Moriana;
💀 Added new VFXs;
💀 Added new corpses models;
💀 Added two new seasons (Spring and Fall) and new weather effects;
💀 Added dozens of new elements on the level, like trees, bushes, anthills, etc.
💀 Plenty of improvements to other animations and models.

Fixes:
💀 Fixed many UI navigation issues.

JOIN UNDEAD PLAYTESTS

As you know, we’re cooking up some significant gameplay changes right now, and we’re close to finally sharing them with you. However, before that, we need to ensure that everything is - well - polished. So, we’d like to invite you all to our UNDEAD PLAYTESTS.

We will share a new, unique build of Be My Horde with some huge changes on Wednesday. It’ll be available only to those of you who have decided to join the Playtests. With these Playtests, we want to gather feedback before we make this new build public in September. We’d like to give ourselves a little more time to prepare this update properly, and your support will be a massive help! Your feedback will definitely shape these new gameplay changes.

[h2]So, what do you need to do to join the Playtests?

1. Join our Discord server and go to the #Announcements thread.
2. You’ll find a message about Playtests there. React to it with a special emoji to get a unique server Role that will grant you access to the Playtests Thread.
3. There, on Wednesday, we will share a beta password to Steam’s branch with the new Be My Horde build.

The Playtests thread on our Discord server will also allow us to gather your suggestions, answer your questions, and discuss the build. That’s pretty much it! We will share more details on Discord on Wednesday.

By the way, this special build will also be showcased on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at gamescom in Cologne! Yes, a group of us will be there to represent Polished Games, but our stand will be in the B2B section. How are you all doing? We’re hard at work on the next update for Be My Horde, and it’s packed with exciting gameplay surprises. Yes, there will be significant changes in how you play our game. We’re still in the testing phase for some of these features, so we’re keeping details under wraps for now to avoid any potential disappointment… However, we may have already said too much, so let’s smoothly transition (without any awkwardness) to what we really want to share with you—a new video devlog!

Yes, we know you’ve been eagerly waiting for this, but with the launch, we had our hands full. Now, we’ve finally had the chance to edit and prepare it for release. This devlog is special because it was created in collaboration with Davi Vasc, our incredibly talented composer! He’s the mastermind behind the memorable soundtrack for our previous title, Realms of Magic, and, of course, the music for Be My Horde.

In this devlog, we dive deep into how the music for Moriana’s bloody adventures was brought to life. What were the key inspirations? What challenges did we face along the way? And how did we come up with the idea to blend heavy metal with church music?

UPDATE, DISCOUNT, AND YOUR PRIVATE PATH OF SUFFERING

As we pen these words, we're diligently working on the next update for Be My Horde. However, since this takes some time, we thought it’d be a great idea to offer you something smaller but equally superb in the meantime. Without further ado, we have THREE announcements for you!

[h2]BALANCING ON THE EDGE[/h2]

Moriana asked us (and by that, we mean forced us) to tweak some numbers and introduce various changes to the game’s balance. We hear you all, and we read every piece of feedback and review. We noticed that some improvements and polishes to the balance were needed. So, feel free to download the new 0.6.5 version of Be My Horde, where we’ve implemented buffs and debuffs as necessary to enhance your experience. The full list of changes is below:

💀 Increased maximum number of available Scroll Points from 7 to 9;
💀 Blood Dust: Healing urn chance increased from 30% to 40%;
💀 Speed Dust: Increased speed buff duration from 4s to 5s; Speed urn chance increased from 30% to 35%;
💀 Great Plague: Increased spawn chance by 66.6%;
💀 Circle of Death: Increased number of spawned Peasants, Warriors, and Knights from 20 to 30; Increased number of spawned Cavalrymen from 10 to 15;
💀 Poisonous Ashes: Poison cloud duration increased from 7s to 15s; Increased poison damage from 1 HP + 1% Max HP to 3 HP + 1.5% Max HP;
💀 Storyteller: Decreased priest healing from 8 HP + 60% Max HP to 8 HP + 20 Max HP%;
💀 Wooly Boomer: Increased sheep spawn rate by 100%
💀 Swift Decay: Decreased Scroll Point cost from 2 to 1; Increased speed buff duration from 4s to 5s.

[h2]“I LIKE PAIN”[/h2]

To celebrate this minor update, we’re thrilled to announce a new contest—the Hard Mode Challenge! Once again, you can win THE OFFICIAL BE MY HORDE MERCH PACKAGE, which includes a scented candle in a glass cemetery vessel, a mug, a sheet of stickers, a pin, a lanyard, and an extra Be My Horde Steam key.
So, what do you need to do for our Hard Mode Challenge?

1. Update your game to version 0.6.5.

2. Get as far as possible on the highest possible Hard Mode level. Both factors are crucial for your results. For example, a participant with a record of 23 minutes on the third Hard Mode level has a better result than a participant with a record of 30 minutes on the second Hard Mode level.

3. Submit your score by sharing a screenshot of your ending screen with your best result in the Your Score thread on our Discord server.

Also, remember that to unlock the Hard Mode, you first need to finish the game by reaching the 30-minute mark and building a special structure in your Dominion. Then, to unlock each next Hard Mode level, you need to once again reach the 30-minute mark on the lower level.

Past, Present & Future of Be My Horde! Month after launch summary!

How are you? How’s your crusade against everything that is good and alive going? Great? Moriana is pleased with your engagement - as we are!

Looking at the latest statistics, you have been very busy necromancy adepts. Thank you so much for such a colossal commitment!



Exactly one month ago, we launched the Early Access version of Be My Horde on Steam, and we couldn’t have dreamed of a better start! Thank you all for your support. Your reviews, feedback, and suggestions give us the much-needed boost to continue our work on the game. As we mentioned in previous announcements, this is just the beginning of this adventure!

Today, we celebrate. We’ll look back to calmly check out what the hell happened in the last four weeks. We’ll take a look at the present to share with you what the hell is going on in Polished Games right now. And, of course, we’ll take a look ahead to tease a little bit about what the hell will happen. Grab your snacks and drinks - let’s go!

[h2]THE DAY MORIANA MET YOU[/h2]

It happened on June 18th at 7:00 p.m. (CEST). It was evening, but still bright outside. The sun was still fighting the night, and it was quite warm and nice on the other side of our windows. The whole Polished Games team gathered on our internal Discord server for a video call. We live in various places in Poland, so we work remotely. We started counting from 10 to 1, and at the right moment, Krzysztof Dadełło, the Game Director, pressed that magic green button, and… nothing happened because, on Steam, you need to confirm the release by typing the correct command, and we forgot about it. :D

Well, that was anticlimactic after all that countdown, and the champagne was opened too early. However, in the end, after a few more seconds, Be My Horde was available for everybody to try out. We crossed our fingers and spent one of the longest nights of our lives in front of our computer screens. We had no idea what would happen next.

After one month:
💀 Over 8,000 players purchased Be My Horde!

💀 The game received 263 reviews on Steam, with 88% of them positive!

💀 A beautiful community started to grow with all of you great people leaving us plenty of reviews and fantastic feedback!

Our game has been played by many streamers and YouTubers - big and small:
💀 Both Smokaloke and Bonkol had fun becoming the seductive necromancess!

💀 DangerouslyFunny made a video about Be My Horde!

💀 Angory Tom also enjoyed our game!

💀 We’ve been reviewed, among others, by GameGrin, GameSpew, and CD-Action; the latter is one of Poland's most significant game-related site.

For our small indie team, so much has happened that it feels like months have passed since the release. However, apparently, this whole chaos is just getting started…


[h2]EVEN BEFORE THE LAUNCH[/h2]

Be My Horde is a small, simple project that we started working on mostly to learn new things and to gather a crew. At the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024, we hired new people for the company, and we knew we couldn’t throw ourselves into a big, massive project right away. We had to make something smaller to learn to work as a team. So, we put a lot of effort and heart into Be My Horde, but at the same time, we didn’t have big expectations… And then the launch happened.



You can’t imagine how happy we are that so many people met Moriana, our glorious necromancess. However, we think that’s enough talking about the past. Our trip down memory lane ends here, and we’re back in the present.

[h2]WE ARE COOKING[/h2]

The first major update was launched some time ago, and we’re happy it has been warmly received. We gathered more feedback, and as we speak, we are crafting a new update. We want to apologize for not sharing many details. We have that approach that sometimes we are a little bit afraid of showing what we’re working on. Don’t get us wrong; we love to be transparent - honestly answering your questions and letting you look behind the scenes occasionally. But at the same time, we don’t want to share something that is not ready and that we’re not sure we’ll even implement.

It is tempting to say: “Hey, we’re working on the X feature,” to hear your reply: “Oh, that’s great, we can’t wait,” and then find out, through tests, that perhaps the X feature isn’t such a good idea for Be My Horde. And then, we need to tell you: “Hey, do you remember that X feature that you were excited about? Yeah, it won’t happen…”. We really want to avoid that. That’s one reason we’ve never shared any roadmap with you, even if it’s a common thing to do during Early Access. We want to ENSURE that what we’re preparing is good and will meet your expectations.



For now, about the preset, we can share that we’re working on and polishing (hehe) the next major update that will happen in August. We’re thinking more about the first half of that month than the second half, but still, we don’t want to throw any dates in your direction not to disappoint you. What will you find in this closest update? We won’t tell you - sorry. At least not now. However, we think may tell you a little bit more about our plans for the future!

[h2]AND WE WILL BE COOKING![/h2]

We have our general internal plan for Early Access. If everything goes according to plan, we’re considering launching Be My Horde in full sometime in Q1 or Q2 of 2025. As we mentioned many times before, we don’t want to make our Early Access phase too long. We feel like those 8-9 months from the launch are enough to polish (hehe) the game correctly, add much-expected content, and improve the gameplay.

Regarding the content, our plan is to create 2-3 additional levels. Now, the game has just the basic one, the plains, but we want to implement a few more. Each would have its own look, extra mechanics, and completely new enemies ready to be slaughtered and added to your malevolent horde.



At the end of each level, you’ll meet a boss. A powerful unit with unique abilities, challenging to defeat. Killing such a foe would mean that the level has been beaten. Naturally, our first step in this direction would be officially closing the first level you can already play by adding the boss to it. We already have a plan for him and some ideas. Unfortunately, we know he won’t be implemented with the closest major update, but maybe with the next one, sometime in September-October.

Various levels and their bosses will also allow us to tell an engaging and funny… story! Yes, we will add more lore to Be My Horde to share more about who Moriana is and generally prepare a proper script. Keep in mind that it won’t be anything spectacular; our game isn’t a massive RPG with plenty of characters and choices. But we feel and got confirmation through your reviews and suggestions that Be My Horde needs a cool story. Even if it's a simple one!



So yes, we will spend a lot of time improving the gameplay, polishing (hehe) the features, and making the experience of becoming a powerful necromancess much more enjoyable. But at the same time, we want to implement a lot of new content regarding levels, enemies, abilities, and the story mentioned.
