It’s been a while since our last update, but only because development has been in full swing!

Today, we’d like to share a closer look at some new cards and give you a glimpse into the card game mechanics. While animations and sound effects are still in progress, we’d love to hear what you think so far. Take a look!

Now, let’s talk cards. As you know, each enemy deck is unique, with its own set of cards. Designing them is a blast, but the real fun is turning both new and familiar ducks into playable cards. Here’s a sneak peek at some freshly baked ducks:



As you can see there are some new entries and some familiar faces. This batch is about music, which one is your favourite?

Hello deck ducks!

My graphic friend has already left for Christmas, so this news has a simple screenshot as its cover. But hey, we’re all friends here—no need to stand on ceremony, right?

We've been very busy with the development of PPD - A Quite Quest, and let me tell you we're happy with how it's coming along! We're having a blast working on it and we can't wait for you all to try it out. Everything's on schedule, so it's confirmed that in the second half of 2025 it'll be ready to leave our craft workshop.

Before leaving you with a couple of new gifs, I want to wish everyone a merry holiday season and a happy new year!

Summer is ending, and we are back, working harder than ever!

Things are getting serious. We can't wait to reach the end of the development cycle and show you the finished game. Creating a project like this has always been our dream, and it feels amazing to sit at our desks and go wild with ideas. And you know how wild our ideas can be, don't you?

Now, do you want to see some progress?

We plan to add three types of characters: main characters (essential for progression), optional characters (unique but not essential), and extras (mostly there for flavor and to fill the scene).

We’ve created some pretty crazy characters and are having so much fun designing them and writing their dialogue. The hard part seems to be naming them... When you have quite a few characters to interact with, you eventually run out of names!

Now that I think of it, maybe you can help with that. I'm not promising anything, but if you leave a comment down below, there's a chance we might pick one of your suggestions to name an NPC in the game. How would you like that? Or maybe we should make it a contest?

One last thing: we're still deciding whether to set up a closed or open beta demo—or whether to have one at all—for testing the game. It may take some time, but I suggest keeping an eye out!

Today we want to touch base with you and thank you all for the support you never fail to grant us.

In just 3 weeks or so, the game has gathered 4k wishlists! (Pretty impressive by our indie, self-funded standards.)

Not only that, but thanks to the buzz from the announcement trailer and all your interactions with social media posts, gifs, images, and so on, we even attracted the attention of Rock Paper Shotgun, who decided to write a nice article about Placid Plastic Deck!

Now let's take a look at what we are working on, shall we?




As you might have noticed, in our game, card battles always happen between different decks because no two decks are the same. Since all decks are unique, we are drawing quite a few cards. We thought you might want to take a sneaky peek:



Each deck has its own board, and when our beloved protagonist Zoi is challenged by an opponent, they simply join their boards together and play. That means we need to model quite a few boards. For now, we are focusing on the details of YOUR board, as it's the one you (almost) always have before your eyes.

We want to give it a tactile feeling, and I must say that passing the turn is pretty satisfying...

Like many an addled follower of the games industry, I have recently fallen under the spell of Balatro, and especially, its jokers. The mechanics and overall presentation may be exquisite, but it’s the thrill of discovering another mutant jester modifier that has me lunging for the Steam Deck in my sleep. Well, now those jokers have competition: ducks.
