Alpha 3

Alpha 3 has arrived! Though unfortunately it doesn't contain all the features and additions we would have liked to add into Alpha 3, we've fixed a lot of bugs and improved some things for QOL! We look forward to sharing with the community some upcoming features and improvements with Alpha 3.1 in a future news post!

Added:

  • SCAR Assault Rifle


Fixes and Improvements:

  • Changed the UI - it is now more fluid and easier to navigate and use.
  • Fixed nullptr crash.
  • Fixed lighting bug with Wall Lamps
  • Clothes no longer hold any items. Inventory is now strictly held on the player.
  • Player inventory size increased to account for singular inventory storage space.

Greetings Survivors!

Alpha 3 is currently only available through the temp_ beta branch, due to a temporary issue with Steam (we are currently unable to publish it to the main public branch). We are working with Steam to resolve this issue ASAP!

As a result of this, Official Dedicated Servers may be delayed to the Alpha 3 update, and will be updated ASAP as well!

Developer company name change (does not affect game's development!)

Greetings survivors!
We wanted to let everyone know, that we have changed our company name to Bytewerkz, from Smartly Gophered Games. The reason for this change is simplicity, an easier to remember name, as well as opening the company up to other potential software development opportunities in the future (not strictly limited to game development, as the previous name was). We will begin updating the website, as well as Steam, Discord, Twitter, and everywhere else with our new company name and branding. Rest assured that we have not stopped development on Your Journey of Survival or Project Speed 2, and that development is indeed still full-steam (no Steam pun intended)-ahead!

This is not an update for the game, but rather a small little announcement to let everyone know that we've updated the Artwork for the game on Steam. This artwork features a nice, painted background, with a cozy and isolated cabin in the foreground.

Alpha 2.2 - Graphical improvements, bug fixes, new achievements, and more!

Greetings Survivors!

We're pleased to be releasing Alpha 2.2, which brings some graphical improvements, bug fixes, new achievements, PVP improvements, NPC improvements, and more official servers!



Added:
  • Achievement: Kill a ranged enemy
  • Achievement: Kill 5 ranged enemies
  • Achievement: Kill 50 ranged enemies
  • Achievement: Kill 100 ranged enemies
  • Achievement: Green Thumb
  • Achievement: Green Fingers
  • Several more NPC spawn locations, and more NPCs at cave
  • Bullet drop


Changed:
  • DirectX12 renderer is now default. You can go back to DirectX11 by using a custom launch parameter, -dx11, in your custom launch options on Steam when launching YJOS.
  • Server rental button now redirects to our website's rent a server page, which lists our official server host providers


Bugfixes:
  • Character clipping through world
  • Multiplayer lag causing inventory to disappear in servers
  • NPCs no longer drop ludicrous amounts of loot (such as 1k meat on Deer, and several hundreds of bullets on Barbarians and Aggressive Survivors)
  • Armed barbarians ragdoll no longer glitches if clipping through world and flies out of the map
  • Lightning crashing games if running some AMD GPUs
  • Garbage collection crash
  • Sky flickering or having seam in multiplayer servers with ping above 150 ms
  • View distance not being affected by graphical settings
  • Almost non-existent long range draw distance in multiplayer
  • Water breaking the game if swimming with gun equipped
  • Server Steam Sockets error upon player crashing or abruptly disconnecting/getting booted from server
  • (WORK IN PROGRESS, NOT TOTALLY INFALLIBLE) - AI now flees/attacks upon sound, instead of a trigger sphere. This should help with AI getting stuck or standing in one place, in most cases no longer essentially letting you murder it with an axe (such as deer, or aggressive survivors/barbarians)


Along with this, we've also partnered with 4NETPLAYERS to bring several new official servers to YJOS, in different parts of the world! You should now see them in the server list.
