[p][/p]
New 3D Characters Bring Berlin to Life
[p]
Work on the OMSI DLC Berlin Line 186 is moving forward steadily. While the route is currently in an intensive testing phase, today we want to highlight one detail that adds authentic Berlin atmosphere: brand-new 3D characters created specifically for this add-on.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The spotlight is on three figures dressed in Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) uniforms. These characters were specially modeled, textured, and implemented into OMSI for this DLC. The aim is to make the cityscape along Line 186 feel even more realistic and lively.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]They will be placed at key points along the route, such as major transfer hubs or busy stops. This adds a realistic touch to Berlin’s public transport daily life and helps make the map feel truly authentic.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]We’re showing both shots from the development phase (3D editor with WIP textures) and early in-game scenes.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Please keep in mind that these are work-in-progress images. Modeling, textures, and placement may still change before the final release.[/p][p][/p][p]These extra details help Line 186 shine not just in driving experience, but in atmosphere too. The combination of route design, vehicles, and a lively environment creates the distinctive Berlin vibe that makes this DLC special.[/p][p]We’ll be sharing more behind-the-scenes insights from the testing phase soon.[/p][p]

OMSI 2 Add-On | News Berlin Line 186

[p]OMSI 2 – Berlin Line 186 – WIP Images from Steglitzer Kreisel[/p][p]The work on the assets required for the upcoming OMSI Berlin Line 186 add-on is nearing completion, while the beta testing is already in full swing.[/p][p]A particular highlight of the new Berlin map is the Steglitzer Kreisel, with its unique structural and traffic-related features. Today, we’re sharing the first images from ongoing development, showcasing the exterior of this iconic structure.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The high-rise on Schloßstraße in the Berlin district of Steglitz has shaped the cityscape since the late 1960s. At around 120 meters tall, it is one of the most recognizable buildings in southwestern Berlin and will be an unmistakable feature in the add-on.[/p][p]Recreating it presented the development team with significant challenges.[/p][p][/p][p] [/p][p]In addition to the characteristic high-rise structure with its entrances, podium, and retail spaces, the traffic-specific peculiarity had to be faithfully reproduced: selected bus lines drive directly into the building, loop around in a closed circuit, and start their next route from there.[/p][p]Such a concept is rare worldwide and can only be found in a few major cities, such as Taipei, Toronto, or Cincinnati. This uniqueness makes the Steglitzer Kreisel a special experience for OMSI players.[/p][p][/p][p] [/p][p]The real-world condition of the building has also been considered. Since 2015, the tower has been undergoing extensive renovation, with scaffolding and construction tarps shaping its appearance. This authentic detail is deliberately reflected in the add-on, ensuring high recognition for those familiar with the area.[/p][p]The lower building complex houses numerous shops and a hotel, all recreated with attention to detail, adding extra atmosphere to the area.[/p][p]The images shown are from the ongoing development (Work in Progress). Details may still change before release.[/p][p][/p][p] [/p][p]In one of the upcoming news updates, we will also give you a look inside the building, which is currently under intensive development.[/p][p]We are excited to hear your feedback on this unique building of Line 186.[/p][p]It won’t be long until you can drive through the Steglitzer Kreisel yourself, though we cannot announce an exact release date yet.[/p][p]To make sure you don’t miss any news, follow us on Facebook, check our website regularly, or subscribe to our Telegram channel to be notified as soon as a new update is released.[/p]
