[p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]Watch the video or read the transcript below:[/p][p][/p][p]Well, I hate to break it to you but you’re dead.[/p][p]At least you were briefly.[/p][p]What you are now, it’s a little harder to say.[/p][p] [/p][p]Simply put you’re a vampire.[/p][p]Risen from legend into the cold dark night.[/p][p]We call ourselves Vetostryx, after the undead emperors of old.[/p][p] [/p][p]It’s Time To Believe In Monsters, because you are one.[/p][p] [/p][h2]Legacies[/h2][p]As a Vetostryx, you belong to a Legacy, a bloodline composed of vampires descending from a progenitor known as a Revenant.[/p][p]Revenants are unique in that they are the only vampires who are not passaged by another vampire.[/p][p]A Legacy is passed down from legator to legatee, and each Legacy shares a signature animal form that all its members can transform into.[/p][p]Different regions tend to have their own predominant Legacies.[/p][p]On the Isle of Gallow, and in Britain more broadly, these Legacies are the most common:[/p]

• [p]Annwnian: Dream hounds said to be cursed by the Welsh Otherworld.[/p]
• [p]Apostatic: Rejected claimants to the bloodline of Judas.[/p]
• [p]Baohan: Deadly but tragic fatales.[/p]
• [p]Borru: Betrayed souls said to be bound by universal fate.[/p]
• [p]Camian: Tortured Scottish Lords.[/p]
• [p]Iscariot: The officially recognised and sanctified bloodline of Judas.[/p]
• [p]Mercari: Tricksters and thieves who often form the power behind the throne.[/p]
• [p]Minervae: Old English Nobility with an apparent connection to Ancient Rome.[/p]

[p] [/p][h2]The Enigmata[/h2][p]While Legacies are important. the faction you choose to join is far more significant. Vampiric society is ruled mainly by the Enigmata, an often-uneasy alliance of four Estates:[/p]

• [p]The Disciples of the Bone Shepherd: The First Estate, sinister priests and followers devoted to finding personal salvation through adherence to divine will.[/p]
• [p]The Kerrogan Collective: Ruthless scientists dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge above all else.[/p]
• [p]The Fettered Way: Spiritual vampires who seek enlightenment for themselves and all vampiric kind.[/p]
• [p]The Whispering Monolith: Cunning suits who hoard data, forge backroom deals, and wield corporate power.[/p]

[p] [/p][h2]Peregrines[/h2][p]While most accept the status quo, there are some Vetostryx who shun the Enigmata, becoming Peregrines, outsiders.  Peregrine groups, called Hordes by the Enigmata, share little beyond their separation from mainstream vampiric society.[/p][p]On the Isle of Gallow, two Peregrine Hordes are known to be active:[/p]

• [p]The Lumeia: Cultured scholars and academics driven to temporary states of madness by their strange appetites.[/p]
• [p]The Brotherhood of Stygian Wisdom: Terror-cultists and vampiric extremists who commune with the Primordial Darkness and seek the end of the world as we know it.[/p]

The bulk of this story is written with only some revisions left to be done. [p]Harrowed World is taking a bold step into the realm of dice, character sheets, and imagination. Work has officially begun on a tabletop roleplaying game adaptation of the dark gothic setting, tentatively titled Harrowed World Tabletop. While the name may change as development progresses, the project promises to deliver an immersive experience that captures the haunting beauty and deep depths of Harrowed World in a new way.[/p][p] [/p][p]The upcoming TTRPG will adapt the lore of Harrowed World for pen and paper play, starting with the insidious vampires of the setting. Players will step into the shadows as these immortal predators, navigating ancient power struggles, secret pacts, and blood-soaked intrigue.[/p][p] [/p][p]But vampires are only the beginning. Over time, Harrowed World Tabletop will expand to include the full array of creatures that populate the world, from magical folk to the mysterious Beholders, humans who possess the rare ability to sense the supernatural. This gradual expansion is designed to keep the world growing and evolving, allowing players to explore every dark corner of Harrowed World.[/p][p] [/p][p]While vampires will take centre stage initially, interplay between different creature types will be a key part of the experience. Whether through NPC interactions orchestrated by a game master or direct play between player characters of different creature types.[/p][p] [/p][p]This emphasis on cross-creature dynamics adds layers of storytelling potential, allowing groups to craft campaigns filled with uneasy alliances, supernatural scheming, and moral dilemmas that blur the line between monster and human.[/p][p] [/p][p]Instead of adopting the widely used d20 system, Harrowed World Tabletop will feature a custom-built system created specifically for this world. The decision serves a dual purpose, avoiding licensing complications while also giving creative freedom to design mechanics that fully embody the dark and disturbing tone of Harrowed World.[/p][p] [/p][p]While details of the mechanics remain under wraps, the plan is for flexibility and narrative depth to take precedence over crunch heavy gameplay. The goal is to create a system that feels fluid, dangerous, and emotionally charged, where every roll of the dice carries weight.[/p][p] [/p][p] [/p][p]The project is still in its early stages of development and is not yet playable. The announcement comes earlier than originally planned due to growing community interest and discussions that encouraged pulling back the curtain sooner than expected.[/p][p] [/p][p]Fans eager to get involved will have a chance to help shape the game’s future, though not right away.
