Rocket League's upcoming Extra Modes tournaments won't have their own ranks

Rocket League tournaments are set to receive yet another makeover for the start of Season 4, and it's good news for players who like a bit of two on two action or any of the game's addicting Extra Modes.

Psyonix says it wants to build on the "esports feeling" of Rocket League by increasing the amount of weekly tournaments from 73 to 143. Within that weekly schedule will be a slate of 3v3, 2v2, and random Extra Modes tournaments - so get ready to battle it out in Rumble, Dropshot, Hoops, and Snow Day.

While the standard tournaments will have their own ranking system, Psyonix has confirmed that players will not earn their own Extra Modes rank for tournaments. Instead, players will enter these competitions at their standard rank, but you won't lose or gain MMR from these matches. Tournament credits and winner titles will still be on offer though.

Introducing Creator's Garages Launching With Athena

Starting tomorrow, Rocket League's first Creator's Garage will hit the Item Shop starting with the one and only Athena! There's no better way to kick off this new series of bundles than with Athena — one of Rocket League's top personalities and a core member of the community.

Creator's Garages will have unique collections of existing Rocket League items gathered and curated by creators from the Rocket League community. Athena is the first in a long list of creators to be featured throughout this year and 2022.

Hit your Athena Flicks in style with Athena's Garage, featuring seven items. Here's everything included for 2000 Credits:

  • Octane (Orange Painted)
    Shisa Decal (Certified Scorer)
    Standard Orange Boost
    Yamane Wheels (Black Painted)
    Luminous Trail (Titanium White Painted)
Dueling Dragons Goal Explosion (Titanium White Painted)

Be sure to use Athena’s Support-A-Creator code "ATHENAART," or a creator code of your choice while in the Item Shop to help support your favorite personality in the Rocket League Community.

In addition to Athena's Garage arriving tomorrow, she'll also be the first Rocket League content creator to release a song on electronic music label, Monstercat! Listen to "Eternal" by Athena & smle as the Rocket League main menu track starting tomorrow, just before the song's official release on August 6 (click here to pre-save!). The "Eternal" music video will also launch with the single on Athena's YouTube channel, featuring a few other Rocket League personalities. Stay tuned for the track in the Item Shop as a Player Anthem coming soon.

Athena's Garage will be available for a limited time beginning August 5 at 9 a.m. PDT (4 p.m. UTC). You can check out Athena's Twitch streams here. Be on the lookout for more Rocket League Creator's Garages in the future!

Auriga Item Series Arrives Today

Rocket League is nearing the end of Season 3, but a new Item Series will arrive before it reaches the finish line. Be on the lookout for items from the all new Auriga Series, which will start appearing as Blueprints starting today!

The Auriga Series is led by the latest car, Dingo — an enforcer with classic stylings and an Octane hitbox. Dingo comes with four Decals, and the Series has additional Decals specific to this new car. The Auriga series features more than a dozen all-new items, like the Glitch and Astro-CSX Wheels (which both have Special Edition variants), Humid Haze Animated Decal, and more! It also has two new Black Market items: Encryption Decal and the Inamorata Goal Explosion.

Don't forget, items from the new Series can be unlocked two different ways: Blueprints or the Item Shop. If you receive a Blueprint after a match, just use Credits to build the item from the Blueprint to add it to your inventory. These items will also begin appearing in the Item Shop, so be sure to check it out in the coming weeks.

For new players, here's some quick info on how Blueprints work:
  • Players receive a Blueprint for an item after some Online Matches.
  • Blueprints show you exactly what item you can build.
  • Look out for Blueprints that unlock Painted or Special Edition item variants.
  • Blueprints, and the items you get from them, are tradable to other players on the same platform.

Rocket League gets James Bond's suave Aston Martin DB5

James Bond is classy, Rocket League is classy, so it shouldn't come as any surprise that the two are coming together. Specifically, Rocket League is getting James Bond's Aston Martin DB5, which appears in several of the films: Goldfinger, Thunderball, GoldenEye, and a bunch of others...

Rocket League is getting James Bond's Aston Martin

Rocket League is getting another familiar vehicle for you to add to your garage. Developer Psyonix has revealed that it's collaborating with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Aston Martin to bring James Bond's Aston Martin DB5 to the game on July 29 across all platforms.

You'll be able to find 007's Aston Martin DB5 in the item shop alongside the silver paint finish, engine audio, wheels, and a Reel Life decal. You'll have to be swift if you want to pick this one up, though, as 007's Aston Martin DB5 is only hanging around until August 4. The car won't be the last you see of Bond in Rocket League, though, as Psyonix says more content inspired by the iconic action film series is coming to the game in the future.

We've seen a few familiar sets of wheels in Rocket League of late. Earlier this year, Psyonix revealed that the studio had signed up to a multi-year partnership with Formula 1, with an appropriately named Formula 1 fan pack following with heaps of familiar-looking cars and decals.
