Guild Esports' academy to launch in second quarter of 2021

Guild Esports, the organisation backed by footballing icon David Beckham, has finally revealed details on its promised academy system. Guild says the academy will "set the gold standard in the esports industry" and will launch in the second quarter of 2021.

In an investor Q&A document, spotted by Dexerto, Guild says that its academy system will consist of "an online portal" and a "physical athlete-development system that has been closely modelled on the success of the Premier League and inspired by David Beckham." The former England international has also been "actively involved" in creating the academy system, according to Guild.

The online portal will provide gamers with resources to help their development. This will include gameplay coaching as well as guidance and training on aspects such as nutrition and psychological support. Guild's headquarters will also be home to on-site facilities for "top academy players" to use.

Rocket League codes: every new cosmetic code

One of the best things about Rocket League is how highly customisable the game's cars are. From goal explosions that send popcorn kernels flying all over the arena to animated black market decals that get everyone going, Rocket League has it all. But did you know you don't need to splash the cash to nab some flashy cosmetics?

Like other free-to-play games, Rocket League hides codes in announcements, trailers, products, and broadcasts, that, if caught, can be used to unlock decals, wheels, banners, antennas, and more. So if you're stuck looking at a garage full of rubbish blueprints and an empty wallet, you'll be glad to know there's an easier way of getting your hands on limited edition skins.

So, here's everything you need to know about Rocket League codes, including which ones are active, which ones have expired, how to find them, and, more importantly, how to redeem them.

Rocket League bug results in players getting nothing from loot drops

The loot box experience can be a cruel mistress for many players. Oftentimes the dreams of shiny golden goodies materialising in a ray of light are dashed, as you are instead presented with... a common. 'I might as well have gotten nothing!' you cry out in frustration, as once again the RNG gods have forsaken you. Well, Rocket League players are now reporting that they are getting just that: nothing.

Reddit user u/Tony-Two-Hands took to the vehicular soccer game's subreddit to show off their not-so-hot drop. The video clip uploaded shows the player opening up a rare drop. The lights show that they are set to get a common item, which would be a disappointment in itself.

However, the item that finally rose from the platform was, well, 'none'. Nada. Zilch. Psyonix community lead Devin Connors was quick to weigh in, initially boiling the issue down to a problem with PsyNet.

PATCH NOTES
CHANGES AND UPDATES

Trade In Update
• Trade Ins are now managed in their own section in the Garage
  • All Trade In-eligible items fall into three categories:
    • Core Series Items
    • Tournament Items
    • Blueprints
  • The Trade In menu displays how many eligible Trade Ins you have, sorted by category and rarity
  • Trade Ins still operate the same way as before:
    • 5 Uncommon = 1 Rare
    • 5 Rare Items = 1 Very Rare
    • 5 Very Rare = 1 Import
    • 5 Imports = 1 Exotic
    • 5 Exotics = 1 Black Market
  • Tournament Items and (revealed) Blueprints can now be traded in regardless of series. The Tournament Item or Blueprint you receive from a Trade In is directly tied to the series of the items you traded in.
    • For example, if you trade in three Ignition Series Blueprints and two Ferocity Series Blueprints, you'll have a 60% chance to receive an Ignition Series Blueprint and a 40% chance to receive an Ferocity Series Blueprint.
Player Trading Eligibility

  • The ‘Uncapped’ option at the bottom of the list will ignore the framerate cap when Vertical Sync is disabled, but may cause screen tearing for some players depending on hardware configuration
General
• Nintendo Switch support for cloud syncs will come in a future update
