Queen Remy's model: keep or replace?

Hi all!

As promised, in version 0.14 we’re going to see a lot of Queen Remy. But this got me thinking about her model. It’s one of the first models I have chosen and from time to time I think about whether it’s the best one for Her Royal Majesty.

So I’d like to hear your opinions: let me know if you think the model should be changed. Some of you have been playing the game for more than three years now and may have grown attached to the current model. On the other hand, she may be just a little too plain for her role in the story. So please let me know your thoughts and if I see that most of you would like to see a new model, I’ll consider looking for alternatives and present them in a second post.

Bear in mind, though, that the final decision is mine based on artistic considerations so please don't consider this an abiding vote.

Version 0.13 is here!

I don't want to repeat the full feature list, you can find it here. However, there are some minor additions to this version which were not specified in the previous Release Notes:

1. In the army Vs. army combat you now have three additional formations to help you gain some flexibility in combat.
  • Shield Wall Formation (granted by Sumia in your palace): Units adjacent to each other take reduced damage.
  • Flank Formation (granted by Dian in your palace): When an enemy unit is attacked from opposite sides, it takes increased damage.
  • Berserk Damage Bonus A friendly unit attacking without adjacent allies gains an extra damage bonus.

2. Following the inclusion of formations, when starting a new game, you may now play the game with a more strategic approach: After conquering Oryenguk and Marbia, you can plan your next move toward dominating the Eastern Sister. Here are a few strategic options to consider.

  • Heading North to Geoyanguk: Capturing this region unlocks Queen Xeneny’s powerful Fame bonuses. Extreme fame or infamy can significantly boost obedience or productivity across your fiefdoms.

  • Advancing West to Tinpingia and Waikokipia: Securing these areas improves your army’s mobility, enabling faster troop movements. This allows for more efficient control over obedience and minimizes the downtime when troops are away from your fiefdoms.

  • Marching South to Hawatia and Limtinia: Bringing their queens into your council unlocks the Shield Wall and Flank formations, granting crucial tactical advantages in Army vs. Army MK2 combat.

3. Unfortunately, the Codex will be released later.
4. Thank you all for your ongoing support! If you’re enjoying the game, I would greatly appreciate it if you could leave a review. As a small independent developer, your feedback helps me gain visibility and stand out.

Version 0.13 final status

In the story "How Much Land Does a Man Need?" by Tolstoy, a peasant's greed for more land leads to his demise, as he dies trying to claim more than he can use. When I approach the end of a version, I feel like Pahom, the story’s protagonist: only I’m not driven by greed, but by the desire to push more content into the version: Another scene. Another animation. Another dialog.

Anyway, content wise, the version is near complete. All dialogs, images and animations will be ready tomorrow. What’s left are the somewhat less “shiny” tasks of adding gallery scenes, music and lewd sounds in lewd scenes, proofreading, playtesting, reviewing the tutorial etc. Additionally, since we have added a Codex, codex entries need to be added as well (though this might wait for a later date).

As I have written in earlier posts, the quest in this version is about Karder who visits the Pirate Clans in order to secure their cooperation when the Khan’s navy crosses the Sea of Knives. Additionally’ we’ll meet the Harsh Edge, his divine daughter and will “reunite” with his little sister, Alyn.

I may be able to squeeze in a lewd scene with pregnant Jada, but that may or may not happen.

But after finishing this version, Karder will be ready to cross the Sea of Knives. It’s happening.

Looking at the new features, there are a lots of new surprises:

1. Codex. This is something which was requested many times in the past for various reasons, with the most popular being; how many children did Karder sire? And how do I know what bonus do my Council Wenches provide? So now the codex will provide statistics for this question, along with lore and information on all the Wenches, non-Wenches important characters, Deities, fiefdoms and more.

2. Threat Level and Covert Ops screen. Since the first days of the game, enemy fiefdoms attacks were always completely random. As of version 0.13 each fiefdom will be assigned a Threat Level (based on the ruling Wench) which will increase gradually. In order to mitigate the threat, you’ll be able to bribe enemy generals (with gold), execute a Preemptive Strike (“spending” troops from the main army) or declare Martial Law in your adjacent fiefdoms, thus forcing the enemy to cancel their raid plans but losing Morale (= productiveness) in your adjacent fiefdoms. In other words: the metagame will be less random, allowing you to plan your khagante’s growth better.

3. MK2 Combat formations. The Army Vs. Army MK2 combat, where you fight in 3 Vs 3 against the enemy will become the default option (can be changed in the game settings). In order to make it more interesting, the following “formations” were added.

Berserk: if your unit (i.e. on screen soldier) is not adjacent to any other friendly unit, it does more damage.
Shield Wall: if your unit is adjacent to another friendly unit (not diagonally), it receives a defence bonus.
Flanking: if two of your units attack the same enemy unit, they receive a damage bonus.

Don’t worry, I’m not trying to compete with Total War, just make the army combat slightly more interesting and fun.

4. Nicer nodes on the minimap in quests. Unfortunately there is no new minimap in version 0.13 so you’ll have to replay a quest to see this.

5. Moving during a miniquest can now be controlled from the keyboard keys instead of clicking on the on-screen arrows.

6. Toggleable Incest. This is something I hear from time to time, some of you prefer not to have it in the game. Incest is now toggleable in the Fetish settings but the default is on.

That's it for now, now I'll go back to finish this adventure filled version. I’ll publish an ETA by the end of the week. Let’s fucking go!

Version 0.13 status

Hi all!

Version 0.13 is going to be the last version before Karder crosses the Sea of Knives and reunites with Queen Remy. So in this version I'm trying to tie all manner of loose ends to make the reunion as exciting as possible: Karder is going to meet with Queen Remy's daughter Alyn, get to know The Harsh Edge (who, you'd be surprised, looks exactly like beautiful young woman) and in addition there's also a quest in the Pirate Clans, filled to the brim with alluring pirate ladies and many game related enhancements.

If this wasn't clear, version 0.13 is probably going to be the biggest version ever.

All this comes at a price: the version will not make it to September and will be released in late October/early November. I hate delaying a version and perhaps I should not have added a quest to this one (and simply focus on the meta story going), but I just couldn't refuse those hot pirate babes, and hopefully you'll fall in love with them like I did.

From a game enhancement perspective, 0.13 is also filled to the brim with new features, which will be detailed in a future post, but as a teaser, here are their names:

- Codex

- World Map Fiefdom Threat Level

- MK2 combat formations

- Toggleable Incest

- Improved minimap nodes

- Keyboard controlled Minimap

Last but not least, an original pirate-themed soundtrack. Let me know in the comments if you'd like some musical samples!

Stay tuned!

0.13 update

Version 0.13 is going great! So much content planned, it might be the biggest update yet. As you might have guessed, the new update will take Karder to the Pirate Clans. As many have you noticed, there are three unconquered fiefdoms left (Ganguk, Taishing and Cheunia) and since they are so small I can't think of any feasible scenario where they dare to defy Karder or pose any significant threat, hence they will be known collectively as the Pirate Clans.

Karder will visit the Pirate Clans to bargain for a safe passage over the Sea of Knives and go on a pirate themed adventure with no "Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!!" or "Matey" but a lot of other exciting shenanigans of the nautical criminal nature.

If you missed the tiny ladies, there's one coming up in the form of Ktani the halfling and her crow who loves shouting "cocksucker!" whenever it can. I will reveal the rest of the cast in the coming weeks, but trust me it's going to be hot. We're also working on many gameplay features such as a codex (including the number of bastards Karder sired), Threat Level indicator for the world map, allowing you to manage risks of raids, new music tracks of course and many more. Come visit me in Discord (https://discord.gg/zP5FH9x8hv), I post a lot of stuff there.
