May 2024 Development Log

It's the end of the month, and time to update you on our progress!
We are nearing the final stages of development, focusing mainly on fixing various bugs, testing, and optimizing the overall experience.

Additionally, the development team has confirmed that the game will officially launch in late July this year!


Here is this month's progress report:[/h3]


[h2]Control Optimization and Click Mode[/h2]

We've added a "click" function to move and place ingredients in the game!
Since the release of the Demo, players have reported that dragging operations can cause hand fatigue over long periods.
Although reworking the system took some time, we now support click operations!

Players will be able to switch cooking operation modes in the settings interface.
This feature has also been updated in the Demo version!

[h2]Bug Fixes[/h2]

[h3]
The following issues have been fixed, and the Demo version has been updated accordingly:
  • In drag mode, clicking on an empty container caused it to shift.
  • Holding the fast-forward function caused the game to freeze in certain story segments, requiring the player to release and press again.
  • Adjusted bubble messages so they no longer block the button to pick up the noodle strainer.
  • Fixed translation errors in some Japanese dialogues.
  • Corrected judgment errors in some story branches after serving dishes.

[h2]Game Optimization[/h2]

Thanks to everyone who played the Demo and filled out the survey; we have received all your suggestions!
Here are some optimizations we've added:
  • Added click operation mode for cooking (based on player suggestions, see above for details).
  • The settings interface now allows you to review tutorial images.
  • Added dates, chapter names, and immersive sound effects at the beginning of each chapter.
  • You can now double-click to skip the fixed opening animation after the second chapter.
  • Added broth and soy sauce residue to plates and bowls after the food is finished, as they were too clean before.
  • When clicking, the cursor's chopsticks now pick up items.
  • Some text has been bolded for easier reading.
  • The sound effect for text appearance has been lowered to protect players' ears.

It's time for our end-of-month progress report again!
The writing of the storyline is finally nearing completion, so we've started to have some extra resources to optimize visuals and interactions.

Finally, we have some time to work on visual dynamics!
Whether it's popup interfaces, ramen bowls, or plates, they now have jelly-like lively animations!

We've received feedback that hardly anyone finishes the soup in ramen! (Especially with thick soups)
And the plates look too clean after eating.
So, we've made some minor optimizations.

The achievement system has been gradually implemented into the game, and you'll be able to meet them in the official version!

In previous DEMO versions, many players felt the font was too small, or the gray text for whispering was hard to recognize.
We've optimized fonts for some languages to reduce the burden on players during gameplay.

The game is still in ongoing development, and amidst our busy schedule, we're here to update the development log again.
The main focus this month has been on narrative writing and integrating some interface resources.

[h2]1.Story Writing and Design[/h2]

The initial draft of the story writing is now complete, and the early text has been finely revised and submitted for translation.

Now we can devote most of our time to system functionality and special effects performance, among other areas.

[h2]2.Interface Resource Integration[/h2]

This includes the official interface resources for the dialogue history review, as well as common pop-up resources, replacing some of the original temporary assets.

[h2]3.Chapter Selection Interface Optimization[/h2]

In the official version, chapter selection is a very important feature. Last month we integrated the resources, but there's still much work to be completed.

In addition to adding transition effects and unlocking chapters according to the player's journey, we will also continue to update animations and joystick operation support, etc.

Since the storyline has been completed, we expect to finish all the functions of this interface by next month.

Happy Lunar New Year~
Even during the holiday period, we've been hard at work on development. The main focus this month has been on writing the story, but there are also some visuals we can share with you in advance.

[h3]In the final version, the game consists of multiple chapters. (Only the first two chapters are available in the DEMO version)

Players play on a chapter-by-chapter basis. Although there is no save/load function within chapters, each chapter can be conveniently experienced at any time. Additionally, story branch chapters will also be displayed here.

[h3]The Master finally has a portrait!

In fact, the game is narrated from the perspectives of two main characters. It seems that in the DEMO version, many players were confused about whether they were controlling the Master or Homura. This will be corrected in the official version by revising the store's description and marketing materials to minimize misunderstandings.

Furthermore, we are revealing the design drafts and some screenshots of "Aster" and "Zoro" in advance!

Aster is an old friend of the manager, and Zoro is Aster's colleague and partner.

[h3]The current script has already exceeded 30,000 words, and the final version is expected to have at least over 60,000 words. Translation costs have also skyrocketed, and the development team says it's time to tighten our belts~

January 2024 Development Log

Thank you all for the numerous suggestions and feedback after the release of the demo. The development team extends our utmost gratitude. We will continue to work hard and aim to complete the game as soon as possible.

We also invite those interested to join the conversation on Steam's discussion boards or in our official Discord group. Your encouragement gives us the motivation to keep pushing forward!

[h2]1. Dialogue Review Feature[/h2]
(The image above is a temporary interface; it will be updated once the artwork is finalized.)

[h3]This feature was actually planned from the beginning, but couldn't be implemented in time for the demo. It's now fully functional and will be complete once the interface assets are in place.[/h3]


[h2]2. Chapter Opening Animations and Sound Effects[/h2]

[h3]Many players suggested making the transitions between chapters feel more ceremonial. So, we've added date displays and some weather-related sound effects (like the sound of rain) at the beginning to enhance the immersive experience.

Additionally, from Chapter 2 onwards, players will be able to skip the opening animations to avoid waiting too long.[/h3]


[h2]3. Enhanced Immersion[/h2]
[h3]The store manager has finally found the lid! Now, when you throw ingredients into the pot, you'll cover it with a lid to work some delicious magic.[/h3]


[h2]4. Rainy Day Effects[/h2]
[h3]Certain chapters will feature rain effects and sound. A bowl of ramen is perfect for a cool, rainy day![/h3]


[h2]5. Planned Support for Cloud Saves and Achievement System[/h2]

[h3]To make it more convenient for players to play across devices, we've spent some time perfecting the cloud save feature and achievement system. We plan to offer around 20 standard and hidden achievements for players to earn.[/h3]
