We joined COMICUP 31, a doujin event held in Hangzhou, China on May 17–18.
In addition to demo play sessions of Animaloid Girl and the distribution of doujin books, we also ran a special collaboration featuring 8 Japanese indie game titles.

As new releases for COMICUP31, we distributed the Chinese-language editions of two books:

• Animaloid Girl Track.2208, an illustration and setting materials collection
  
• Animaloid Girl Track.2408, a visual story book
  

Translation is handled by flankoi, known for their work on ghostpia and Return to Shironagasu Island.

From the perspectives of “character,” “worldbuilding,” “atmosphere,” and “uniqueness,” we’ve selected 8 Japanese indie games that the Animaloid Girl team deeply respects.

Each of these titles will have free postcards available at our booth!
For this campaign, we specifically invited works rooted in Japanese anime and manga culture.

To help attendees discover each featured title, we handed out “latest edition postcards” for free.
They were so popular that most of them were gone by the second day!

This playful and layered card set includes:

• SNS-style frames based on the fictional social platform KOWLOOOOOOOON featured in the game
  
• Character photo cards inspired by instant film (cheki-style)
  
• Background cards of real-life Hong Kong locations for “pilgrimage photography”
  

Our decision to attend COMICUP this time was driven by a desire to help more people learn about Animaloid Girl.
We were deeply encouraged to see so many visitors come specifically for Animaloid Girl and the other featured titles.

We will be exhibiting at the Japanese indie game event “DREAMSCAPE#3”!
This is a real event featuring only visual novels and will be held on May 24th in Shinjuku.

At the event, we will be launching a brand-new ZINE titled “Kowloon Core.”
Its concept is: "Tracing the development of Animaloid Girl through columns and interviews to delve deeper into the essence of the work."



This folded booklet is printed using the retro-style “Risograph” technique in four colors, giving it a warm, textured finish.

You’ll be able to experience a more refined version of the dialogue scene from the TOKYO INDIE GAMES SUMMIT 2025 build.

This particular scene captures a single day from the calendar-based progression of the game’s year.
It portrays a moment between the girl and the protagonist—passing each other by, struggling to put their feelings into words, yet quietly caring for one another.

The girl, facing anxiety over her gradual transformation into an Anima, finds a glimmer of hope through the protagonist’s presence.
It’s a scene that explores emotions difficult to express—uncertainty about the future, and the quiet, fragile belief that something good might still be waiting ahead.

This new merch set includes two clear overlay cards—perfect for taking photos that blend with real-world scenery—and a background card featuring real Hong Kong locations that inspired the world of Animaloid Girl.

The set was planned by PANDRI-DON, with beautiful card designs by Chosuido, the creators of ghostpia.
We also received production and card specification support from Eiri Kondou of Internet Eden.

All Animaloid Girl merchandise is designed to enrich and expand the world of the game.
The new “Outing Clear Cards” are based on Kowloooooooon, the in-game social network used by the girl.

The logo features a neon-inspired design, and the extra-long “o” is a nod to the lucky number 8 in Hong Kong culture.
The airplane icon reflects the iconic angle of planes descending near the Kowloon Walled City—this SNS is imagined as a fictional platform born out of Hong Kong.

We imagined the girl using this SNS to post snapshots of her outings—maybe she wanted to share a moment from a place she visited, or send a message to someone far away. That little story became the spark for this item.

Many of our previous merch items also carry subtle elements that deepen the lore of the world.
If you already own some, we hope you'll enjoy piecing things together and letting your imagination fill in the gaps.
