New Mountain "Baifushan" & Supporter Pack DLC

Hello Riders,

Today is the day! Please welcome Baifushan, the newest member of our Lonely Mountains family.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Baifushan

Baifushan is a free update to the game, available now on Xbox and Steam. It is inspired by the beauty of Chinese mountainscapes and might be the most gorgeous mountain we ever made - it is definitely the biggest.

Baifushan offers four new trails with two slopes each, new challenges, new achievements, full multiplayer support for racing, team mode, quickmatches, private tours, and leaderboards. We spend a lot of time working on this mountain and we hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Supporter Pack DLC

For everyone who wants to support the ongoing development of Snow Riders we are now offering a supporter customization pack. It doesn’t give you any gameplay advantages but you are getting a whole bunch of awesome gear and accessories together with our eternal gratitude for helping us to keep working on the game!

Supporter Pack DLC

We also set up some new bundles with additional discounts:

Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders is getting a new mountain next month and a whole bunch more throughout the year, including a game editor

Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders is getting lots of new content in 2025, studio Megagon Industries announced today. The wait won't be long either: a new mountain will be added on April 9 in a free update, bringing the total to four. Like the existing slopes it'll boast four trails, each with harder variations and challenges. Apparently "it's the most beautiful mountain we've done yet". I can't wait to tumble graciously down its slopes...

Roadmap, Patch & Award Nominations

Hello Riders,

We hope you’re all doing great. We have a bunch of good news for you today!
Roadmap
First, we took some time to develop a roadmap for this year based on your feedback. Please be aware that this doesn’t include everything we are planning, but mainly the things we can commit to and that we can already announce. It might also change over the year based on your feedback and because game development rarely goes as planned.

Spring:
 • New Free Mountain: On April 9th we will update the game with a new full-fledged mountain. It will come with 4 trails, blue and black slopes as well as new challenges, multiplayer and leaderboard support. We don’t want to spoil the biome yet but we believe it’s the most beautiful mountain we’ve done yet.
 • Supporter Pack DLC: A lot of you reached out and asked if there is a way to further support the development of the game, so we created a nice cosmetics pack that will go live together with the new mountain. Of course, the cosmetics have no gameplay influence but you do get our eternal gratitude for helping us to keep the game alive!
 • New Trick and Free Ride Challenges and Improved Accessibility Update: We don’t have a date yet but we will add two new Solo game modes to the game. One new mode that focuses on doing the most awesome tricks and we will also bring back the classic and beloved Free Ride mode from Downhill. More details on the new modes will follow in the future. We will also add a lot more accessibility options to the game like auto acceleration, button/key mapping, etc.
Summer:
 • PS5 Version: We’re working hard on bringing the game to PS5 as well. We don’t have a date yet but we are hopeful that it will happen sometime in summer.
 • Multiplayer Update: We’re trying to bundle together some of the most asked-for multiplayer features into one big update. You will be able to set your private matches public so that they will also be available in the quick match queue, allowing you to play with your friends against or with the community. We also want to improve the tour system, allowing for tours to feature blue and black slopes together and you will be able to vote together on reshuffling the trails.
Autumn:
 • New DLC Mountain: We don’t want to spoil anything yet but we plan to release a new DLC mountain later this year.
 • Multiplayer Update: We also plan for another big multiplayer update that mainly features improving the friends and social features in the game along with some bigger changes to the matchmaking system.
Winter and Beyond:
 • PC In-Game Editor & Community Maps: Saving the best for last! We will release an in-game editor for community maps. When we started the development for LMSR one of the first things we did was to create our own editor that runs in the game and we have been using it ourselves to create all the trails in the game. Unfortunately, it will take us the better part of the year to polish it to a point where we can give it to the public and there is also still a whole bunch of things we need to figure out but we hope we can deliver it next winter.

Of course, we are also constantly working on improving the multiplayer, performance and the UI.

We hope you like our plans. If you have any questions, thoughts, feedback, or ideas the best place for discussions is our Discord. And please remember, just because something is not on the list doesn’t mean it will never happen, it just means that we can’t commit to it or announce it yet.
Next Point: Version 1.0.6.
We also just released a new version for Steam and Xbox. It’s more of a Hotfix actually and most changes are just in the backend (improved analytics and error reporting) and don’t affect the actual games.

But for the record, here is the patch log:

20.03.2025 Version 1.0.6. Hotfix Fixes
 • Minor: Fixed challenge icons in the trail selection not being updated correctly.
Improvements
 • Major: Improved automatic renderscaler for more stable performance on Xbox S.
 • Minor: Improved the settings layout and added options to choose between performance and quality mode in the startup settings on Xbox.
German Video Game Awards
One great news we kept for the end! We are incredibly proud to announce that Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders has been nominated at the German Video Game Awards for Best German Game alongside the amazing Enshrouded from our friends at Keen Games and Thronefall from Grizzly Games. And we are also nominated for Best Studio together with Gentle Troll and Aesir Interactive!

This would never have been possible without all of you and the love you all showed for the game!

Thank you all and if you want to hold your breath together with us you can watch the award show live on the 14th of May.

You can check out this page to see all the great nominees! https://deutscher-computerspielpreis.de/nominierte/

That’s it for now and see you on the mountains!

Patch - v1.0.5

Hello Riders,

Greetings from sunny Berlin! We hope you’re all doing well!

We just released Version 1.0.5. for Steam and Xbox.

The most important changes are the new display settings which should also fix a lot of reported performance problems. Display settings don’t get reset anymore, and we added an optional frame rate rate limit to reduce GPU usage, support for variable refresh rates, monitor selection and more.

There are also a lot of other smaller fixes and changes concerning the multiplayer and the UI in general. Have a look at the full patch log if you want to know more.

Changes:
Fixes
• Critical: Fixed bug that reverted display settings on every restart.
 • Critical: Fixed a bug that players were stuck on "Initialize Graphics” after the latest patch when they had turned off the imposter generation.
 • Critical: Fixed various level loading issues that lead to endless loading screens in multiplayer.
 • Critical: Fixed level not loading when the ghost file got corrupted. We are still unsure how the ghost files get corrupted though and added more logging to better understand the issue in the future.
 • Major: Fixed automatic mode for render scaling, which always chose the lowest resolution in many cases.
 • Major: Fixed an issue that the main menu environment scene was sometimes not loaded correctly.
 • Major: Fixed an issue that broke the spectator mode when another player left the match.
 • Major: Fixed a bug that sometimes host and clients didn’t load the same level or slope.
 • Major: Fixed that challenges were not shown as achieved in the endscreen for very close results.
 • Minor: Fixed that sometimes the wrong loading screens were shown.
 • Minor: Fixed Team Mode video explanations not being available in the How To Play screen in the pause menu.
 • Minor: Fixed that environment assets were visually fading in when switching between players in spectator mode or when respawning.
 • Minor: Fixed wrong timings for sound effects for challenges in solo mode.
 • Minor: Fixed that settings page tab buttons were making the wrong sound.
 • Minor: Fixed missing localization for the “Enter Lobby Key” pop-up text field.
 • Minor: Fixed that dropdown options sometimes were hard to select.
 • Minor: Fixed gloss effect being broken for achieved challenges in the trail selection when hovering between different trails.
 • Minor: Fixed that message pop ups for events like host migration would sometimes not appear correctly.
 • Minor: Fixed that times on checkpoint lines and on the endscreen were sometimes not in sync.
 • Minor: Fixed that ready up button was not selected by default after a multiplayer race.
Improvements & Polishing
• Major: Added support for variable refresh rates on G-SYNC / FreeSync displays.
 • Major: Added optional frame rate limit to reduce GPU usage.
 • Major: Previously selected screen settings (resolution, fullscreen mode) are now applied right when starting the game, not at some point while loading the menu.
 • Major: Simplified display settings to only show quality / performance mode on console.
 • Minor: Added settings option to choose a monitor.
 • Minor: Confirmation dialog is now shown when critical display settings are changed.
 • Minor: Settings options now have explanation texts.
 • Minor: Loading screen now shows the name, mountain and slope you will play next.
 • Minor: "New best time" display in solo mode when crossing a checkpoint now has a sound effect.
 • Minor: The end score display for Team Mode now has a "counting up" sound, and a "threshold crossed" sound for bronze, silver, and gold.
 • Minor: The “AFK timer” and “end of race timer” now have a notification sound.
 • Minor: The next trail in a tour starting now makes a slightly different sound than before.
 • Minor: Polished the Finish screen layout so that it doesn’t overlap with the “end of race” timer.
 • Minor: Added controller icons for Switch Pro Controller.
 • Minor: You can now also manually override the controller icons used in the game.

We wish you all a great start into the week and as always let us know if you run into any issues, but any feedback is highly apprechated!

All the best,
your Megagons
