Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders News

Post-Launch News

Hello Riders,

Thank you everyone for your support on launch day! We’re all very happy about all the great feedback. We had over 125k players on Day 1 and have an unbelievable metacritic of 92%!

We wanted to give you a little update on the most important things we’re working on.
  • Leaderboards: Unfortunately the leaderboard servers didn’t survive the number of players yesterday and we need to do some optimizations before we can bring them back up again. We are working hard on it but we don’t have an ETA for the fix at the moment.
  • Quickmatch Issues: Although multiplayer works mostly fine we are tracking a whole bunch of unregular issues, especially in the quickmatch. We’re trying to fix what we can at the moment and it would be great if you keep the reports and log-files coming as some of them are really hard to reproduce for us.
Also please feel free to join our Discord and use the looking-for-tours and become-friends channels to organize private tours as they seem to be a lot more stable. There are also audio channels you can use for better communication.
  • Racing Timer: For some unknown reason our racing timer (which starts when a player takes too long to reach the finish line) is completely broken. We’re working on fixing this right now.

We will keep you updated on these issues and will inform when a new patch will go live in the coming days. In the meantime we hope you still have a good time on the Lonely Mountains and please keep your feedback, ideas and suggestions coming.

Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders review

The creators of my favourite extreme downhill biking game, Descenders, went on to make an extreme snowboarding game, and now the creators of my second favourite extreme downhill biking game, Lonely Mountain: Downhill, have made an extreme skiing game. I'm not going to pretend to be surprised by this: all of these sports are good because they're fast and dangerous, especially at sharp gradients...

Hotfix - v1.0.1

Hello Riders,

After only 4 hours we got our first hotfix live. It adds support for Steam Timeline for Game Recording (see screenshot below) and addresses the following two issues:
  • Reduce the frequent short freezes / lag spikes that appeared especially in the beginning of multiplayer matches
  • Very rare crash / softlock on the loading screens

Additionally the version number is DECREASING... the previous version should have been 1.0.0, but we messed up and set it to 1.0.2. before - not its correctly set to 1.0.1 - however besides some confusion we hope there is no harm done. ;)

Have fun exploring the mountains and remember to leave a review - that helps us tremendously!

Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders out now!

Hello Riders,

After four years of hard work Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders is finally out today for Steam and Xbox! Thank you to everyone who showed us your support on this journey!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

The base price for the game is 24.99€/$24.99 and it comes with a 1-Week 10% Launch Discount for you.

If you like the game, please leave us a review. It would mean the world to us and it really makes a difference for the Steam recommendation algorithm. If you experience any bugs, have feedback or any other questions please let us know on the Steam Forums or even better in our Discord.

One important note. A lot of people wished for a better way to speedrun the game and while we have been working on a “Hot Start” feature, unfortunately, it didn’t make it in time for release. We hope we are able to release it soon but of course, we will first take care of all high-prio bugs that come in.

We really hope you all enjoy our snowy Lonely Mountains and see you on the slopes!

Lonely Mountain: Snow Riders has a new release date and it's next week

Lonely Mountain: Snow Riders was one of the best demos I played last year, because it felt so good to gracefully slide down its white-powdered mountains (and clumsily crash into a tree). It might have been one of the best games I played last year, who knows, but it was delayed into 2025. Now it's got a fixed release date again: January 21st.
