Volcanic Wastelands Update Coming Soon!

Attention Jumpers!

The dev team has been hard at work to bring you a meaty content update on Tuesday, July 23. What can you expect? More details will be shared next week but we can confirm a new map in Volcanic Wasteland, a new boss in the Scorcher, and lots of QoL improvements and bug fixes.

Here’s a sneak peak at some concept art and some gameplay from the new map and the boss:





Refuel your jetpack and get ready to slay the Scorcher on Tuesday! You’ll need it to fly over those lava pools. As always, please share any of your feedback or impressive runs in the Midwest Games Discord or over on the Steam Discussions tab.

[h3]Improvements and Additions[/h3]
New unlock reward animations now appear at the end of every run for any achievement you finished.

End of run menu overhaul.
- Includes animated display of unlocked achievements and statistics from the run.

Achievement progress meters now implemented in various places for easy reference.
- Shows on currently locked jumpers in the jumper select screen
- Shows on currently locked permanent upgrades in the Upgrades menu

All permanent upgrades are now visible.
- The locked ones now have a locked icon to their left and the upgrade unit boxes are hidden.

Banishing achievement created to unlock in permanent upgrades menu
- "Reroll Roulette" - perform 100 store rerolls
- Can be purchased 3 times for a total of 3 possible banishing options in the end of wave stores.
- Your remaining banishes are listed on the button itself

Amber counter is now hidden by default to save space. Only appears when you collect amber and then goes away again.
- New SFX when amber is collected.
- New particle effect on amber.

Visual and audio improvements to the Ordinance Drops
- Fixed some UI not going away properly behind the ordinance drop store menu
- Ordnance drops include goo, amber, and a special chest drop (based on the tier of hive you defeated)

More decor and visual updates to levels.

Item drops now animate out of their eggs instead of just appearing.

[h3]Achievement Updates[/h3]
A number of achievement requirements have been lowered to give quicker access to some permanent upgrades.

- A study of bombadiers - reduced from 400 bombardier kills to 200
- Attractive - reduced from 10 collected magnet power ups to 5
- Critically Acclaimed - 8000 critical hits to 4000
- Cyborg - robotic arm relics collected from 100 to 25
- Honorary Doctorate - total health pickups from 400 to 200
- I can take a hit - 1000 damage taken to 200
- If you can dodge a... - 400 melee attacks dodged to 10
- Laser focused - 8000 kills with the laser sights equipped to 4000
- Lots of ordovician autopsies later - 2500 kills to 1000
- 5k fanatic - renamed to "Relay Runner" - changed from 5000 distance traveled to 500
- Thats a lot of damage - 8 million damage dealt to 4 million

[h3]Bug Fixes [/h3]
Fixed high resolution text option not being selectable with keyboard/controllers

A number of codex entries that had been missing or copies of other objects have been given a more thematic "coming soon" message. Will be given full entries in a future update.

[h3]Achievement Fixes[/h3]
"Goo Economist" can no longer go into the negatives when spending goo at high difficulty levels
  • Description slightly modified for clarity: Save a total of 10,000 goo from store price reductions.


    • The sources of store price reductions come from 3 sources: Flash Drive relic, Free Store Reroll permanent stat upgrade, and Haggler's Coin relic
  • Any save files that were in the negatives have been converted into positives.

The 3 "reach 100% in " achievements now can be completed on any run (previously only obtainable in the first run)
  • "Personal Space" - reach 100% bonus attack range
  • "Faster Equals Better" - reach 100% bonus attack speed
  • "Jetpack Joyride" - reach 100% bonus jetpack duration

"Truly Untouchable" achievement is again obtainable
  • Avoid taking damage for an entire run

[h3]Bug Fixes [/h3]
  • Fixed a freeze related to leveling up at the same time as destroying a Hive Spawner.
  • Fixed the Sprinter Jumper's primary weapon.
  • Fixed visual Overshield bug when upgrading while it was depleted.
  • Added missing details to a few relics.

[h3]Changes[/h3]
  • Minimap blips now update faster.
  • The Crushers' movement speed has been buffed to make them more of a threat.
  • The Frozen Tundra variant now correctly spawns ice variants of smaller enemies.
  • Collapsed different rarities of the same relics on the relics screen in the store.
  • Poison Grenades now have an attack radius indicator.
  • Renamed a number of relics

  • New Jumper art for Aerial, Huntsman, and Demolition Jumpers.
  • New art for a number of relics
  • New art for different types of Hive Spawners.
  • Added the word "goo" next to sell prices of equipped weapons.
  • Added icons to the player stats panel in the store screen.
  • Added Jetpack related stats to the player stats panel in the store screen.
  • Additional UI improvements and minor bug fixes.

Hive Jump 2: Survivors is out now in Early Access! We hope you enjoy all that Hive Jump 2: Survivors has to offer from enemy-frying jetpacks, waves of swarming bugs, and tons of alien goo for strategic upgrades.

[h3]What is Hive Jump 2: Survivors? [/h3]
Hive Jump 2: Survivors is a sci-fi, action-packed, survivor-like, bullet heaven. After a squad of intrepid jetpack jumpers is decimated in an intergalactic ambush, a lone survivor sets out for vengeance while fending off endless waves of killer insects.

Play as different jumpers for unique builds and abilities. Collect amber and alien goo as precious resources to earn upgrades and mow down the hordes however you see fit. Your secret weapon? Jetpacks! Strap in, dodge incoming hordes, and maneuver around obstacles - one gory run at a time!

[h3]Why Early Access and What's Next?[/h3]
Launching in Early Access allows us to keep building on the game with our players to bring the best version forward. Your feedback will help us create a worthy successor to the original Hive Jump, this time with a fresh survivors-like gameplay!

We also want to share what's planned for Early Access. While below is accurate today, things can change and the feedback that you all provide can influence what we prioritize and what we don't.
