Paradox Launcher update - v2020.1

Hey City Builders!

Coming to you today with a very small, but important update.

We just released a patch for our launcher, which greatly reduced its loading time for players using Steam Workshop mods.

Like I said... it's short and on point ;)

Stay creative! Stay awesome!

Version 1.12.3

  • Fix for Campus DLC: Campus Area buildings that are snapped to paths do not create University Efficiency for the city
  • Fix for Modern City center DLC: Updated MCW2W 14 buildings' materials and removed color bug causing a bluish tint where it should be white
  • Fixed: Custom Map Theme list only shows themes for the first map
  • Fixed: Unable to load/start game on Lagoon Shore map
  • Paradox Launcher implemented

So here's the deal: We know that nobody likes having to click a couple extra buttons to play the game, but we've given it a LOT of thought and we have some solid reasons why we want a launcher
  1. Looking for a sale for some expansions but you hate social media? (Or don't follow us, which makes us sad) Now you'll be able to see big sales straight from the launcher
  2. It enables us to share exciting community announcements, news, updates, etc. with much more ease. Especially if you give us marketing permissions so we can send you an occasional cool email
  3. In the future we'll be able to manage giveaways ;) more on that later
  4. It facilitates account creations, which helps us understand our players better. Meaning, we can make the game better!
  5. A bunch of other planned features that are all about making things better for you
  6. And for full transparency, there is some important data that we get out of this. Like better tracking on how many people are playing. Which means our Community team gets more money, which we then get to spend on giveaways, contests, supporting modders and YouTubers and Streamers, and other great stuff that I can't spoil the surprise for ;)

Additional comments, in response to your feedback:

"We appreciate the feedback. We are listening, and we're working hard to make sure this launcher benefits players. Again, we have solid reasons to implement a launcher, which will result in a better game experience for players in the future =) I promise you that

I personally think that some people are over exaggerating the launcher's advertisement purposes. We tell Cities players about Cities content. However, we respect your opinions and welcome your feedback on what you do and don't want to see. I encourage you to make your voice heard! I'd hope you can do it without so many hearts though ♄♄♄♄♄♄

And I'm going to put a stop to one false rumor. This has nothing to do with taking private info. We get some basic telemetry, but we're not installing spyware.
