NEWS: Upcoming Update 0.0.16

Ahoi everyone!

Gamescom is over and I am glad to announce the content of the next upcoming demo update.
Some things have been shown at Gamescom, so some of you may have already an impression, but there will be a lot more that was not showcased!

I am currently uncertain how much time it will take to polish the update, since it will turn the game pretty much into a new one, so I want to take my time with it.
New Mechanic: Ships!
Previously the ships you could find on the map had no purpose. This changes with the next update. Players will be given a ship which they can use to travel the map and find islands to settle on! Set your course and be on your merry way towards new adventures!
New Mechanic: Fog of War
The map in the next update will be completely covered in fog. You will have to sail your ship through this fog and find beacons who permanently uncover the map.

Lighthouses now also have a purpose: they provide a huge area in which they uncover the map permanently.
UI Overhaul
As you may have seen from the previous screenshot, the User Interface got a complete rework. I have improved the readability by switching to a new font, added a new color scheme together with some juicy animations to improve the gamefeel.

The Tide-Display was also reworked and is now permanently visible and indicates the waterlevel and current tide status. There was also a minimap added to provide you with better orientation.
Map Rework
Speaking of orientation: the map also got a complete rework. It now consists of many much smaller islands. Forests are quite rare and you have to manage your space more carefully. Islands have to be approached by ship and then be claimed to be unlocked for building.

Sadly your current saves won't work in combination with this map overhaul, since it completely changes how the game is played and how different systems interact. But the new map system gives me the ability to avoid this in the future and make changes or additions to the map more easily.
New Buildings
There are also some new buildings and production chains planned, to give you more content to play with and build more cozy, frisian towns!
That's it!
(for now...) I am really excited for this one and will keep you updated about what's to come!

NEWS: Funding, Gamescom and subsequent update Info (0.0.15)
Hey everyone!
There hasn’t been a lot of info from my side lately, which is why I’d like to get back to you with a fresh announcement, because a lot has happened in the past months.

First of all I’d like to subsequently drop some info on the last update from spring, 0.0.15: (its not a lot, just for the sake of completeness)
 • New system for placing fences
 • Minor Bug fixes

With that off the table, let’s get to the more exciting news!
Funding
I am very happy to announce, that I received some funding from the Gamecity Hamburg, in the form of their “Games Lift Incubator”-Program. With this I am able to lay down a solid foundation for the further development of Frisia, which makes me very happy!
Gamescom
I will also attend the Gamescom in Cologne, DE, this year as part of a combined program, of three universities from germany in which my current university is a part of! So if you want to meet up, I will be at the "Home of Indies” booth in the Indie Area, on Friday, August 23 approximately from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM!
Coming updates
For the purpose of Gamescom, I’ve been working on a few updates, mainly interface improvements and onboarding. But there are also new exciting features, which I will hopefully get to share with you in the coming week!

Until then. stay cozy everyone!

The new color customizer gives full control to the players. You are now able to choose the colors for your buildings completely free with the new color wheel. There is also now an option to copy the color scheme from one building to another, saving you a lot of time when trying to get the same colors for different buildings.

The general visual appearance was also slightly changed to bit more vibrant and less gritty look.

This Update adds a completely overhauled Road Building System, which should feel much more natural than the previous one.

It also adds an new building: the church. This building can be unlocked by finding the sunken church and aquiring its ancient church bell. The church will sound its bells, whenever the flood is setting in.
