The best community maps for Citadelum

Ave, citizens of Rome.
Only a few days have passed since the launch of Citadelum, and we can already proudly say that Rome is expanding its glory and dominion in all the territories of the empire. Thank you all for playing and sharing your experiences to make our little indie reach “plvs vltra”.

In addition to the historical campaign of 10 levels and the Sandbox Mode, which offers freedom in choosing the various parameters of the game, Citadelum has a powerful editor to create maps, missions and campaigns. We have gone through all the creations of the community, and in this devlog we offer you our favorite creations.
Stranded
A small map set on an island in the Mediterranean (Mare Nostrum), and with limited resources. Did you know that we initially thought this would be a good prologue for the game? In Stranded, space management and bridge building become the protagonists.
Frozen Lands
The possibility of exploring a Nordic biome, covered by ice and snow, where the possibilities of cultivation are greatly reduced. Our citizens must trade with other nearby settlements to obtain basic resources; a new experience closer to survival games.
Alien Planet
It's the craziest map we've seen in Citadelum, and a proposal for those players who want to take a break after the historical scenarios. What would happen if a Roman colony was moved to an alien planet and forced to mine its surface resources? It's time to check it out... and yes, it includes combat against aliens.
The Swamps
Klaatu Barada... ahem! A map for fantasy fans. Experience the construction of a settlement in the swamps and face the army of the undead. Will the Roman legions be able to wipe out the skeletons that populate this cursed area?

So far we have highlighted some of the first maps created by the community, but we would like to make more content like this. Leave us your best creations, historical or fictional, on Steam Workshop and don't forget to play the maps of the rest of the community.

Citadelum (PC) Review

I’m always a fan of a good simulator, whether it’s zoos, theme parks, farms, or city-building. When the Roman city-builder Citadelum was brought to my attention, I knew I had to jump in, and I’m so glad I did. Citadelum blends strategy, simulation, and style to create an addictive experience that I can’t seem to put down.

Citadelum is what happens when you blend SimCity with Age of Mythology and then ramp things up to 11. The game takes place in Rome, and you need to build a functional city for your people. However, what is deemed functional varies as your town evolves and your residents demand more. What I thought was going to be a peaceful sim game turned into a little ball of chaos when things like armies and angry Gods came into play, but more on that later.

As Citadelum begins, players focus on building homes for working-class citizens known as Plebeians. The first essential structure to build is a Forum, and everything in your new city must connect to it in some... Read more

Build Rome, share Rome, play Rome. Citadelum editor.

Ave Dominus,

Citadelum will be out next October 17th, and the team is working full steam ahead in the final touches, some bug fixing and polishing. We are truly excited about the final result, you will be able to play very soon on Steam.

But today, I want to share something on a personal side. Since Citadelum editor was announced, I let my imagination fly with the possibilities included. It is not only about playing Campaign. Sandbox or Battle modes, but giving the player the power to create their own maps and campaigns, and share them with the community, is something huge.

This is a unique opportunity to recreate some of the lesser known episodes of the roman empire, or even to change History at will. What I did, even before I had access to the game, was researching some Historical events I would love to play. I am not spoiling the surprise -you will be able to download and play it after release- but this was an amazing opportunity for studying art depictions of “that episode”, reading ancient maps, and even exploring the terrain (thanks to Google maps). Fortunately, you can find detailed depictions even in university papers, for free on the internet, if you are not willing to visit the library.

Then it is up to you. Will you stay true to the events or change History? We have a wonderful community, and I am sure some of you are already thinking of the Gallic Wars as Julius Caesar, Germania, Britannia… or go back in time to the Punic Wars.

We also want to communicate to everyone that our free Prologue will be available for a limited time. So, if you haven't done it before, now is the perfect time for download and play the first two campaign levels. Remember you will be able to save your progress and continue in the final game. Once the Prologue is withdrawn, you will only be able to play it on special occasions, such as festivals and sales.
