We’re excited to let you all know that Don’t Stop, Girlypop! has been selected to feature in Games Under 5 Hours Fest![/h3]

Short Games. Lasting Impact. That’s the slogan for this event and we’re all about it, girlypops!!! Not all games need to be endlessly long to make a mark. After all, we’re all busy bees, so sometimes we just need something short and sweet 🐝

Don’t Stop, Girlypop! is a Y2K arena movement shooter that is entirely based on speed! The faster you move, the more damage you deal and the more you heal. We’ve made speed a core part of our gameplay and have even included an unique wave-hopping mechanic, a combination of a classic bunny hop with a modern slam, dash, and double jump that lets you maximise your speed and precision.

Since speed is such a key feature in our game, it was always our destiny to be a short, punchy, and impactful movement shooter, which is why we’re a perfect fit for the Short Games Showcase ❣️

Don't Stop Girlypop puts the 'slay' in Doom Slayer with its first Steam demo

When you think of boomer shooters, you tend to think of gritty, grimdark affairs. It's the same with most games that feature guns as their primary mechanic. However, Don't Stop Girlypop challenges those preconceptions, offering a vision of what a Quake would look like if tit was designed by a teenage girl in the '90s. Equal parts pink and punishing, this high-octane fever dream of a shooter is one of the best ideas for an indie game I've seen in a long time, and I'm itching to play it. Luckily, a demo just released on Steam, so we can see if the gameplay lives up to the aesthetic.

Don't Stop, Girlypop! is a glittery, Y2K heart attack of a boomer shooter, with a great demo you can try now

In the late '90s, early 2000s, there were two distinct flavours of aesthetics: boomer shooters, and Y2K girlypop vibes (for the sake of this argument we will ignore every other aesthetic that existed at the time). Boomer shooters like Doom and Wolfenstein were bloody, gory, and had a real "video games are gritty and cool now kind of vibe." Conversely, products aimed at young girls were often glittery, pink, featured leopard print, and were often about love and harmony. Don't Stop, Girlypop! is a game that combines these two vibes, and it is very good (and stressful).

Don’t Stop, Girlypop! is a Y2K arena movement shooter where standing still is not an option! You’ll take on the role of Imber, a half-faerie half-something native of the planet Xyzanthynum. Their planet is being drained of The Love, a vital natural resource keeping the planet alive, by an evil mining company called Tigris Nix. Not cute :’(

You’ll need to take on their nasty Ormyk drones with firepower, fashion, and the power of love. The faster you move, the more damage you deal and the more you heal! Go with the ★~flow~★ with the unique wave-hopping mechanic, a combination of a classic bunny hop with a modern slam, dash, and double jump that lets you maximise your speed and precision. Become a Y2Killer with an arsenal of guns that each have alt-fires which combine symbiotically with each other.
