Greetings warriors of Calradia!

We’re back again with another development update. This time, we’re taking a look at some of the recent changes that made it into 1.5 and 1.5.1.

So, let’s get to it!
DIPLOMACY IMPROVEMENTS
We recently introduced some huge improvements to how the AI calculates and votes on war and peace decisions. This change looks to address some of the issues that led to snowballing; prevented factions from recovering once they were on the back foot; and in some cases, could lead to long periods of inactivity on the world map. Now, the AI tries to make much more logical decisions when it comes to voting on war and peace. To learn more about this, you can head on over to our forums where the developer that worked on it shared a detailed post explaining the changes: a link can be found in the description below.

https://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?threads/diplomacy-developments.429850/
DEATH SYSTEM
No matter one's station in life, the Danse Macabre unites all. And now, this applies in Calradia too! From growing old and passing away peacefully, to being run down on the battlefield while still in one's prime, nobody is safe from Death’s embrace!
CAPTAIN ASSIGNMENTS
Companions can now be assigned to formations from the party screen. Once a battle begins, the companion will be assigned as the formation captain, providing formation-wide perk bonuses to their troops. If the captain dies or flees during battle, the next eligible companion in the same formation will take over as the new captain.
PARTY TRACKER
You can now keep track of your own clan parties and faction armies on the world map. A marker is automatically created for each clan party and faction army which you can choose to keep on screen at all times by clicking the small circle at the top of the marker.
FIRST-PERSON CAMERA FIXES
Many of the clipping issues while using the first-person camera mode have been fixed, allowing you to become fully immersed when experiencing Calradia through the eyes of your avatar.
ENCYCLOPAEDIA FAVOURITES
You can now keep track of encyclopedia entries by marking them as favourites. This will make the favourited items appear at the top of their respective lists.
BARBERSHOP
Started courting? Getting a little tired of that shabby beard? Perhaps you want a new haircut to reflect your change in status? Well, it’s time to head to the new culture-specific barbers that can be found in the centre of each town to freshen up your look… for a small fee of course!
NEW STURGIAN OUTFIT
After visiting the barber, why not treat yourself to some new threads? This new light tunic features Slavic style patterns from Sturgia’s finest embroiderers.
WORLD MAP CHANGES
A number of visual and gameplay changes have been made to the world map.

On the visual side, the geometry and texture details have been improved, visual problems with settlements have been resolved, and small details like roads and paths have been added to make the world look more realistic.

Gameplay-wise, pathfinding has been improved, some settlement placements have been moved, and some village production types have changed for balance and lore reasons.
REPLAY SYSTEM
Finally, we want to take a quick peek at a multiplayer update that is in the works. The replay system will allow players to save replays of their multiplayer matches. Right now, the system has basic functionality and is lacking some UI elements, but eventually, it will be similar to replay systems that can be found in other multiplayer games.

And that’s it for Development Update 3!

Thanks for watching! Leave a comment below to let us know what you think and we’ll see you next time.

Gamescom 2020 Online Event Recap

Greetings warriors of Calradia!

With the merriments of the Gamescom 2020 Online event behind us, we want to take a moment to reflect on the weekend’s proceedings. But before we continue, please allow us to give a massive thanks to everyone that was able to take part! We had such a great time interacting with and playing alongside you all, and it was amazing to see so many of you come to share in our celebrations.

And for those of you that were unable to attend, don’t panic! We’ve got your back with links below to VODs of the live streams that you can watch at your leisure.
Live Streams
On Thursday evening, we kicked things off in true Gamescom fashion by inviting HandOfBlood to guest host a special stream for our German community. The stream featured both singleplayer and multiplayer gameplay, with assistant producer, Falk Engel, and level-designer, Paul Kaloff, alongside for the ride. You can watch the VOD of this live stream here: https://youtu.be/SdgX1FJd34Y
On Friday afternoon we continued proceedings with a Developer Workshop hosted by level-designer, Gökçen Karaağaç, and engine lead, Murat Türe. In this stream, we looked at the Map Editor tool that we hope to share with you all very soon! You can watch the VOD of this live stream here: https://youtu.be/ovQiJfeQB8s
And by Friday evening, it was guest host ESO’s turn to step forward and carry the banner for our English speaking community, with Mount & Blade creator, Armağan Yavuz, on hand to discuss some of the changes since launch and our plans for the near future. You can watch the VOD of this live stream here: https://youtu.be/4dixWUtlSNE
To bring things to a close, on Saturday evening we invited NerdrageFred to stream our Play With Developers multiplayer event featuring Captain, Siege, Skirmish and Team Deathmatch gameplay. You can watch the VOD of this live stream here: https://youtu.be/SBQEzJ7q6M4
Badges
Three new multiplayer badges were introduced and up for grabs during the event:
 • Gamescom Champion: 4 of these badges were handed out to the winners of the daily PvP events. You can find out who those winners are below!
 • Manhunter: 14,611 players earned this by killing someone who had this badge, or the TaleWorlds developer badge equipped.
 • Call to Arms: 2,264 players earned this badge by winning 5 matchmaking games during the event.
Daily PvP Competitions
On each day of the event, a new multiplayer challenge was issued for players to score the top kills in solo or group, captain or skirmish matchmaking games. Congratulations to DadFneih, Hairless the Fool, Goldry Bluszco, and {INFAMOUS} 1or3 each of who has won an Intel Core i7 8700K CPU and has been awarded the Gamescom Champion badge for emerging victorious in those challenges.

And for all you numberphiles out there, here are some stats from the weekend’s PvP:
 • Total kills across all game modes: 1,195,837
 • Skirmish Kills: 205,244
 • Captain Kills: 456,842
 • Skirmish Matches: 3,243
 • Captain Matches: 3,235
Character Portrait Competition
We know that multiplayer isn’t everyone’s cup of tea so we decided to host a Character Portrait competition that invited players to get their creative juices flowing in the game’s character creator. Each day a new theme was announced, with entries being judged by a panel of game developers. Our congratulations go out to Bilal33890946, Levente Horváth, Cem Temeltaş, and vickie21579 each of who won an Intel Core i7 8700K CPU and will see their creations added to the game in a future patch!

And that’s it for Gamescom 2020! Obviously, this wasn’t the same as being in Cologne and getting to meet you in person, but we hope that you enjoyed what we had to offer nevertheless. Thank you again to everyone who took part and make sure to follow our social media channels to keep up to date with announcements on similar events in the future!
