Greetings, everyone!
I’d like to share some exciting news: all the texts for the next update have been sent for voice-over! We ended up with 25,000 words — for comparison, Early Access only had 7,000. For the final version of the game, we're aiming for 50,000 words — about the same as in the first Gothic.

We don’t pad the dialogue with fluff — we aim to make every conversation engaging and meaningful. And now, you'll finally be able to dive into the main storyline, with events that carry greater significance for all of Boreya.

That said, some patience is still needed: voice recording is not a fast process. And I still have a lot of work to do — not on quests this time, but directly on locations, balance, monsters, bosses, and much more.
The remaining tasks aren't too complex, but there are a lot of them. So please — if you haven’t left a positive review yet, consider doing so on Steam. Some people lower the rating simply because they assume the project has been abandoned.

Of course, it hasn't been abandoned — it's being worked on daily, for at least 8 hours a day, and sometimes up to 15.
We’re doing everything we can to speed up the update, but I promised myself not to work at the expense of my health — otherwise, the game might not see the light of day at all.

I honestly can’t wait to see you play and read your feedback.
I’m already really happy with how the game is turning out.

The update may be delayed another 2–4 months, but it will be truly massive compared to Early Access. Nearly the entire game world and its quests will be available — except for the swamps, which will be added in the final update (but that one will come together a bit quicker).

I’ll try to show up with news more often, even if I’m not great at it :)
But please don’t judge me too harshly — I’m working hard on the game, and I really don’t like spoiling content ahead of time.

As for the voice acting, at the moment it only applies to the Russian version of the game.
We currently don’t have the budget to create English voice-over, but I really want to make it happen. I'm thinking about how to solve this and will try to secure funding, because I truly want the Western audience to experience our beautiful culture — and honestly, the RPG is turning out really well.

Attention, news to break the silence.

I've started noticing negative reviews claiming that the developer has abandoned the project. I have no idea how people come to such conclusions, but oh well.

The game is not just not abandoned—it is being developed around the clock. Since frequent and small updates turned out to be impossible, I ask for your patience. However, in return for the long wait, you will receive much more content than originally planned.

I have decided to release not only Scarlet Yar and its surrounding lands but also the winter mountains, Cold Yar, and even part of the Dark Forest. This includes a massive chunk of the story (over 60%) as well as a ton of additional quests.

Right now, I am in the process of polishing and refining the quests and their texts. My main goal is to send the texts for voice acting as soon as possible, but for that, I need to finalize the quests: finish those that are still incomplete, test the ones that are ready, and ensure that everything is in order with the texts and objectives. Often, during testing and development, I have to significantly change the text or the storyline—removing certain details or, on the contrary, adding new ones.

Voice acting is actually the main reason I can't release updates frequently. I need to send as much text as possible, but before doing that, I must be sure that it won’t change later. Because of this, I have to complete as many quests as possible before starting the voice-over process.

And since quest development is a very tedious and time-consuming process, it takes up most of my free time, which is why I can’t show much gameplay content. Initially, quests are created without final polish—temporary models are used, locations are incomplete, and these elements are only replaced at the very end, after sending the texts for voice acting. This is why I haven’t been showing much, even though the amount of content added to the game is enormous—from new quests to a complete overhaul of the combat system.

At this point, 85 quests have been written, of which 50 (including those in early access) have already been programmed and implemented into the game. For the next update, I need to program another 20–25 quests, followed by another batch of 20–25 for the next update. This will push the total quest count beyond 100. For comparison, Gothic 1 had around 100 quests, and those who played it know that this is quite a lot for a relatively small world.

Once the quests are complete, development will speed up significantly, and I will be able to showcase more content: screenshots, videos, combat system changes, new enemies, bosses, and more.

Hi, for everyone interested in the development progress: everything is fine, the game is being worked on, and the plan to release it in 2025 remains unchanged, so there's no need to worry. I'm focusing on the quality and scale of updates rather than their frequency, so please be patient. What matters most is not when updates come out, but when the game is released, and according to the plan, it’s happening this year.

I’m not releasing minor patches right now because there’s no point; while I’m working on the rest of the game, things could break multiple times. The priority remains new content and quests, and polishing the game will take place after all the story chapters are completed.
