The Crew Motorfest News

Year 2 of The Crew Motorfest is coming in hot with Season 5, and with it comes a variety of new patch notes! Our latest patch introduces the long-awaited FREE map expansion of Maui, as well as the brand-new Year 2 Pass, which includes the new Chase Squad Playlist, along with 7 Chase vehicles and 13 additional vehicles, which will be released through monthly drops! The new editions will be available at 9AM UTC and 6PM UTC on Steam

Season 5 introduces one of the most exciting expansions yet that is free for all players, the Island of Maui! This vibrant tropical paradise is now part of The Crew Motorfest for all to explore to their hearts desire.



Connected to O'ahu by a network of seamless bridges, Maui not only offers an expansive new playground for racers but also a breathtaking environment filled with lush landscapes, curvy mountain roads, and exciting new playlists.



From the misty Bamboo Forest to the winding Road to Hana and the dramatic cliffs of the volcanic Haleakala, Maui is packed with diverse terrains that will test your driving skills and truly push you to your limit. Not only is the world of The Crew Motorfest expanding but the experience of it also.

[h2]Environment Improvements[/h2]
To support the new volcano plume, we required an overhaul of the cloud and volumetric system allowing for far distance volumetric shadow and volumetric rendering. We also redefined the 3D details on the volumetric system which enhances the realism of the volcano plume and clouds across the game. It's a great achievement being able to see our volcano plume from across the different islands while still looking amazing!



Another great addition to our weather tech is improved lightning, with controllable placement of lightning strikes. If you are lucky, you might just see some lightning in the volcano plume, with this we also support cloud to cloud-based lighting strikes and cloud to ground, creating some epic lightning scenes all around you! They integrate better with the new cloud system too!

To pair with the dramatic weather, we overhauled the rain, and rain splashes in earlier seasons. Combined with we have some great weather experiences for players to enjoy.



Regarding weather directly, we added new weather day variations and some stunning colour grading which brings many beautiful and unique looking moments throughout the game as you play.



The eagle eyed among you will also spot we now have stars in the night sky to shine next to the moon, adding a great balance to the nighttime visuals. Speaking of nighttime visuals, some of those world and road assets reflect your headlights back at you via retroreflection, for features like reflective road signs, cat's eye and road markings, making it easier to see your path and the road up head.

[h2]The Chase Squad Has Been Unleashed![/h2]
With Season 5, The Crew Motorfest is bringing the intensity with the adrenaline-fueled action of the Chase Squad! As a member of the Chase Squad, you'll team up with Murdock, Glitch, and Samanta, joining their crew to take on the streets in a brand-new playlist that features heart-pounding pursuits. Your journey starts as a rookie, but with skill and determination, you'll ascend the ranks and become a revered member of the Chase Squad.



The Chase Squad Playlist introduces a fresh rivalry between the squad and street racers, blending tactical driving with high-speed chases. Expect relentless action as you work with your team to battle for asphalt supremacy. Whether it's mastering precision takedowns or high-speed drills, the playlist offers a wide variety of challenges designed to push your driving skills to the limit.

The Chase Playlist is part of the new Year 2 Pass offer, available separately or with the new GOLD and ULTIMATE Edition of The Crew Motorfest.

[h2]Made in Japan 2: New Rivals, New Challenges[/h2]
Made in Japan Volume 2 takes players back into the neon-lit world of JDM culture with even more intense night racing and drifting challenges. This time, the stakes are higher, and players must prove their worth against a new wave of street racers to unlock the coveted Liberty Walk Honda NSX (1992). As you progress through the Made in Japan 2 playlist, you'll face off against rivals from around the world, each vying for supremacy on the streets of Maui.



Once you've completed the playlist, the Rivals Board becomes available. This feature allows players to challenge different rival factions in thrilling head-to-head races across the island. Each rival brings their own style and racing strengths, pushing you to adapt and master different techniques. Each rival race encounter is different, as each time you decide to battle your rivals a new generative path is created from the position you engaged your rival from! Creating a wealth of racing route diversity and thoroughly increasing the replayability of Rival races!

The more rivals you defeat, the closer you get to unlocking exclusive rewards, including special edition vehicles like the Pontiac GTO Rival Edition and Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm Rival Edition.

With Season 5, The Crew Motorfest introduces exciting updates to Custom Mode, giving players even more control over their racing experience. Custom Mode is more exciting than ever! Offering more competition with dedicated leaderboards for every vehicle discipline. These adjustments make for a truly personalized experience, whether you're aiming for a casual joyride or an adrenaline-filled challenge.



What makes Custom Mode even more rewarding is the introduction of Prestige Tickets, a brand-new in-game currency. Earn Prestige Tickets by completing custom races, participating in Summit Contests, and tackling Main Stage events. These tickets unlock exclusive rewards, including rare vehicles and customization options from past Summit Contests. [h2]Quality-of-Life Updates[/h2]
The Quality-of-Life updates for Season 5 builds upon the improvements that have been gradually introduced throughout Year 1. These updates aim to make gameplay smoother, more intuitive, and fun for all players.



Season 5 Focus: Looking ahead, Season 5 and beyond will introduce even more exciting quality-of-life improvements such as:

• Rearview Mirrors: A long-awaited feature that will allow players to see behind them for improved awareness, especially during races. This feature will be available on New Gen Consoles and PC only.
  
  
• View Parts in the Car List: Players will soon be able to see installed car parts directly from their car list, making vehicle management and optimization more seamless.
  
  
• Prestige Tickets: A new currency allowing players to earn Prestige Tickets that can be used to purchase previous Summit rewards.
  
  
• Bug Reporter: An upcoming feature that will allow players to report bugs directly from within the game, improving issue tracking and resolution. Allowing players more visibility, transparency, and clarity regarding quality-of-life features being implemented and bugs being dealt with.
  
  
• Merging: A merging system will be introduced, allowing players to combine 3 parts of the same rarity, combining them into the same part of an upgraded rarity.
  
  
• Legendary Set Half Bonuses: Legendary sets now have activation steps. This new system will reward players with 50% of the bonuses if they have 3 parts of a legendary set equipped and 100% of the bonus if they choose to equip the full set.
  
  
• Grand Race Modifiers: Alongside a new Grand Race section on Maui, we will provide more depth to the Grand Race during Year 2, and it starts with Season 5 and the addition of modifiers with the long-awaited "No Collision" modifier. You can expect more modifiers, as our teams listen to your proposals and see how they can be integrated to offer an entertaining experience for all.
  
  
• PlayStation 5 Pro: The Crew Motorfest will be enhanced for the PlayStation 5 Pro when the console launches on November 7th. The game will run at 60 FPS with an average resolution of 1696p during missions, upscaled using the new PSSR technology. Maximizing the console's capabilities, The Crew Motorfest will reach an unprecedented level of visual quality on consoles.

[h2]Year 1 QoL Recap: Elevating the Motorfest Experience [/h2]
Throughout the first year, Motorfest introduced several quality-of-life updates designed to make racing and exploring O'ahu more enjoyable for players. Here’s a quick recap of the standout changes:

• Custom Show Improvements: Buy cars directly from the show, view winning cars, dynamic spawn points, and a new Custom Show Calendar.
  
• Main Stage Updates: Themed weekly challenges with automatic rewards and new leaderboards.
  
• Grand Race Enhancements: Vehicle categories are now visible with clearer reward notifications.
  
• Difficulty Adjustments: Difficulty levels displayed in all menus and can be changed mid-event.
  
• Faster Car Loading Times: Quicker access to your vehicle collection.
  
• Multiscrapping: Ability to scrap multiple perf parts of the same rarity in batches in your vehicle upgrade menu.
  
• Replayers Toggle: We gave you the ability to toggle Replayers (also known as Ghost Cars) on or off.
  
• Cara Frequency: Ability to tweak CARA's voice settings:
  - Switch Guidance ON/OFF
  - Switch Playlist Introductions ON/OFF
  - Switch extra voice lines ON/OFF
  
• Part Swapping: Given players the ability to switch parts between vehicles of the same category, with just the click of a button!
  
• Map Filters: We upgraded the map filters with new presets that show you the activities linked to specific Main Stage tracks so you can navigate your way through your progression easier.
  

These enhancements have already made The Crew Motorfest more streamlined, responsive, and fun, enhancing both the gameplay and overall player experience.

[h2]Year 2 Commitments: What’s Next? [/h2]
Looking ahead to Year 2 and especially Season 5, the team is gearing up for even more QoL improvements that will continue to enhance the experience. Some of the key updates to look forward to include:

• Rearview Mirrors: A significant and long-awaited update, rearview mirror functionality will provide players with improved situational awareness, giving a better view of competitors and the environment behind them.

• View Parts in the Car List: Players will soon be able to see installed car parts directly from their car list, simplifying the process of managing and optimizing vehicle setups.
  
• Prestige Tickets in the Summit: While not a quality-of-life change but instead a new feature, Prestige Tickets will be available to earn in the Summit for players completing challenges during the Summit.

[h2]RPG Enhancements [/h2]
We are aiming improve the experience of our players that are always on the lookout to kit out their favourite vehicle in the best parts possible. Here’s a quick rundown of some new features that we are hoping will achieve this.

• Merging: A merging system will be introduced, allowing players to combine 3 parts of the same rarity, combining them into the same part of an upgraded rarity.
  - This allows players to farm Legendary parts of a specific type at a much faster rate in exchange for spare parts and bucks.
  
• Legendary Set Half Bonuses: Legendary sets now have activation steps. This new system will reward players with 50% of the bonuses if they have 3 parts of a legendary set equipped and 100% of the bonus if they choose to equip the full set.
  - This will allow players the opportunity of more flexibility and opportunities to maximize their performance in their own creative way.
  - This means you can combine the effects of 2 Legendary sets on the same vehicle, which was not previously possible.

One of the most important content landing onto the islands of Hawaii through the Year 2 pass is the Chase Squad and its dedicated playlist

Players will join Murdock, Glitch and Spam as the fourth member of the squad and learn the ropes of the chase in a new playlist featuring adrenaline-fueled night pursuits. They will have to show to everyone they’ve got what it takes, ascending from rookie status to becoming a revered member of the team.

Let’s take a closer look at what the Chase Squad offers and how players can join in on the action.

"For the Chase Squad, we wanted to bring the fantasy of the chase that players love, while adding a twist to the experience with a different approach. We introduced the rivalry between the Chase Squad and the Street Racers, organised as a new Motorfest experience.
As a player, you will join the Motorfest Chase Squad and progress from rookie to full member of the team. From mastering the basics of squad driving to immersing yourself in relentless, brutal and uncompromising chase action against street rivals.

We have pulled out all the stops to deliver this unique playlist, including: a visceral and impactful musical approach (embodied by an original creation with Carpenter Brut), new game modes featuring spectacular chases and takedowns, a very special line-up of highly customisable vehicles that are enhanced at night, and open-world activities against rivals to continue the highly crafted playlist experience."

Chase Squad is all about high-speed pursuits, adrenaline fuelled chases, and precision takedowns. Let’s take a look at what you can expect when first diving into the playlist.

First up, Murdock and the squad will take you out onto their training grounds and teach you the art of precision target smashing. Once you're ready, then you'll face your teammate Glitch in a high-speed chase drill. Next, no more babysitting it’s time for a real test.

It's time for your first patrol. Follow the intel from Sam in the chopper to the destination to locate your target and get ready to head into pursuit. Once Sam has spotted a speedster it’s now up to you to catch them!

Sound good? Well, what are you waiting for? The Chase Squad is waiting for you!

[h2]Rivals Chase [/h2]
But the excitement doesn't stop at the playlist!

Players will embark on a spectacular hunt to seek out, outmanoeuvre, and take down their street racing adversaries in dynamic face-offs across the entire island. From sleek speedsters to rugged road warriors, players will have to master the chase squad fleet and demonstrate their prowess on the asphalt.



The open-world aspect of the Chase Squad introduces a unique twist to traditional racing gameplay. Instead of confined tracks or scripted events, rival chases happen in the open world of Motorfest. These pursuits can take you through city streets, rugged mountains, or coastal highways, creating unpredictable and thrilling chases where every decision matters. You'll need to use every bit of your driving skill, area knowledge, and strategy to catch or outrun your rivals.

[h2]How to Unlock the Rivals Board [/h2]
To unlock the Rivals Board, players must complete the Chase Squad playlist. Rivals Board then, becomes available, opening up the world of high-speed pursuits and relentless rivalries.

[h2]Launching a Rivals Chase [/h2]
Once you've unlocked the Rivals Chase, you can select a target and begin the hunt using the provided intel. Your task is to locate the rival in their preferred territory, tracking them through the open world until you finally flush them out. Once you’ve caught sight of them, the chase begins. Stay on their tail long enough, and you’ll get the chance to engage in a high-speed rival showdown.



Each rival presents a unique challenge, with different cars and racing styles. You'll need to adapt your strategy based on your opponent’s strengths, making every chase a thrilling test of skill. Pick your rival, choose your car, and prepare for an intense, head-to-head pursuit.
