Unveiling New Environment Concept Art

Hello Exoborne Community!

Congratulations on completing stage 4 of the RE_HACK ARG and gaining access to the weather satellite!

Three new concept arts have been unlocked, which showcase more details about the environment in the game.

We designed the first one to evoke the familiar feeling of walking down the street in a regular suburban neighbourhood but with the forces of nature having drastically altered parts of the environment.

The second one showcases the US Southern-style architecture, which you will frequently find in Exoborne.

Here, you can see how both nature and humans are utilizing the ruins of the old world.

The third picture captures the intensity of a combat situation as a storm is quickly approaching. In Exoborne, you will always have to weigh the risks versus the rewards. Getting too greedy can be fatal!

This image was developed using a technique called ‘photo bashing’, where we use our photo references or 3D assets, layer them, and then paint over them.

This is a fast and efficient method to create concept art, especially when dealing with numerous details and objects of varying dimensions and wanting to maintain a realistic style.

Until next time, see you in the apocalypse!

Meet Petter Mannerfelt, our Creative Director

Congratulations on solving the third stage of the Exoborne ARG!

This one was a little more challenging but once again, you showed us that you are up for the task!
The first unlock is a dev diary with our Creative Director Petter Mannerfelt.

Petter shares a few words with us about his passion for gaming and our ambitions for Exoborne.

The second unlock is a concept art where we want to show you the intensity and variety that we will bring with the combination of the Exo-Rig abilities and the forces of nature.

The third unlock is another concept art that illustrates how the extreme forces of nature have changed the landscape. In Exoborne the world as we know it has been turned upside down and you will need to use your Exo rig abilities to traverse the ravaged environment successfully.

Making-of the Announcement Trailer Part 1

Hello Exoborne community!

Great work in solving the first challenge in our RE_HACK ARG, which unlocked the first part of our Exoborne announcement trailer’s behind-the-scenes series.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

For the announcement trailer, we got together with our good friends at Platige to create a trailer that sets the tone for what you can expect from Exoborne.

One of the things that was important for us was to capture the extreme force of nature unleashed by a tornado and the motion that would occur if someone would get sucked up by it.

Easier said than done, but we are always up for a good challenge!

Platige’s motion capture facility has a stage that is 20x13 meters with a height of 8(!) meters.

It is equipped with specialized cameras for pinpointing precision capture of body, face, and finger movement.

With such a large stage, we could capture the high-flying movement that was required for the announcement trailer.

As work continues on Exoborne, we are also utilizing motion capture technology for the game itself, and to ensure that it’s the absolute best it can be, we have built our very own state-of-the-art motion capture facility.

At a secondary location in Malmö, Sweden, we are housing a 21x9 meter mocap stage, which enables us to do all the advanced movements expected from a game like Exoborne.

This stage is equipped with specialized cameras used to capture the body movement of our motion capture actors in extreme fidelity, capturing even the slightest nuances of movement.

We also use wireless head cam systems to capture detailed facial animations.

Additionally, we also have an Xsens suit, which works as a portable motion capture suit, letting us capture movement outside of the studio.

This is perfect for capturing motion in environments that would be difficult to replicate in the studio.

We will be sharing a lot more details about the process around capturing motion for Exoborne in the future, so please stay tuned for that!

Until next time, see you in the apocalypse!

Upcoming Tarkov and Warzone rival is "a different level of commitment"

New tactical open-world extraction shooter Exoborne is developer Sharkmob's answer to the likes of Escape From Tarkov and Call of Duty Warzone DMZ. Set in an apocalyptic United States where extreme forces of nature run rampant, you'll have to head out and scavenge for supplies and resources, bringing back what you can find to craft more powerful gear including the signature Exo-Rigs worn by your squad. At GDC, we spoke to narrative director Martin Hultberg and executive producer Brynley Gibson about its plans for the game and why players should be interested.
