American Truck Simulator reveals Wyoming DLC and graphics overhaul

American Truck Simulator's long haul from west coast to east coast continues into Wyoming soon, as developer SCS Software has just confirmed the setting of the next piece of DLC. The studio has revealed a load of screenshots of the digital Cowboy State, and taken the opportunity to debut American Truck Simulator's visual overhaul here, too.

Both of SCS's truck sims are getting a new, more realistic lighting model with their respective 1.40 updates, and that means the studio has had to overhaul the existing visuals in order to match the new lighting. As with Euro Truck Simulator 2's Iberia DLC, ATS's Wyoming is the first location built from the ground up to look its best under the new lighting.

And it looks mighty nice. Wyoming is one of the least-populated states in the country, but its combination of prairies and occasional mountains makes for a gorgeous way to show off the new lighting under a beautiful sun. You can see some more of those images over on the official site.

Introducing Wyoming

After much guessing and debate, many of you came to the conclusion of which state we showcased in our recent teaser trailer. Today we are excited to share with you the U.S State which will be arriving next...
Introducing Wyoming for American Truck Simulator
Wyoming may be one of the least populated states in the U.S, but that doesn't mean that it lacks spectacular places to visit and see. Home to some of the country's most breathtaking national parks, Wyoming is best known for its red-walled gorges, hot springs, historic prairie towns, pioneer history, and historical attractions.

So why the Bison? Wyoming designated the American bison as the official state mammal in 1985, and to this day you can still find large herds of them grazing across the prairies and protected land which is designated for the conservation of wild bison since their decline across the U.S.

We are happy to share with you these very early development screenshots from Wyoming! Plus as you can see, all of them taken in the new light system. Please be double sure to keep in mind that everything shown is under heavy development and might not represent the final product.

We look forward to sharing more development news about Wyoming in the future; and the beautiful landscapes and new road networks that will arrive with it. Please keep in mind, that this DLC has only just begun to take shape.

Until then, however, be sure to check out the official Wyoming Steam store page with early-development screenshots, and if you wish to support us, be sure to add Wyoming to your Steam Wishlist!

Trucking is a unique job in that you live inside your place of employment - well, okay, maybe that's not so unique in 2020, but you get what I mean. You've got to do something to make the rig feel like home, and up until now American Truck Simulator has been limited in that regard. Luckily, SCS has rectified the issue with a whole lot of tchotchkes and garbage to fill your cab.

The Cabin Accessories pack is $3.99 / £2.89 / €3.99 on Steam, and adds over 100 items to personalise your cab with. There are fuzzy dice, dashboard hula girls, and even leaf-shaped air fresheners to hang from your rear-view mirror. You can also just fill your cab with food, from hamburger wrappers in the passenger seat to cereal boxes and water bottles.

What do these objects do for you? Well, um... You can look around, and see them. Like, they'll be there in your cab while you're driving around. Listen, I've spent more money on worse times than that.

The Freightliner Cascadia® has arrived!

Its virtual implementation in our game also includes a wide array of configurations including 12 chassis variants, 14 engine choices, 13 transmissions, 4 different cabin types, 4 interior trim options, and loads of other customization options. Whatever journey you have in mind, there will be a Cascadia® ready for the job! As a bonus, we are also including a unique paintjob as seen on Freightliner's promotional videos. This is available for the ownable 53' box trailers.

Bringing this iconic truck to the virtual roads of American Truck Simulator wouldn't have been possible without the help of the team at Freightliner Trucks, who has helped us recreate the Cascadia® in great detail. A big thank you, of course, goes to all those involved in this project here at SCS Software, from the very first contact to creating the 3D models, interiors, texturing, bug testing, and more, it wouldn't be possible without you!

We were also provided with the opportunity to rent an imported Freightliner Cascadia® and record the needed sounds for a day. You can watch a video of our recording session here! The generosity and collaboration of all companies involved have allowed this project to progress to where it is today.

The Freightliner Cascadia® arrives as a free DLC add-on for every owner of the American Truck Simulator. Find the latest update on your Steam Client (which may require a restart for some users) to receive this new addition to your library.

Be sure to share your first journey on the virtual roads with Freightliner Trucks (Twitter, Instagram) and us (Twitter, Instagram) using the hashtag #MyCascadia. We can't wait for you take a drive of for yourself.
